TammyTown: I hope that those who were put off by this give it another try, once you know what to expect and know what people are doing it gets a lot easier to sift out the noise, ignore what's not important at least to you, and move on to the other stuff. But I know it's jarring at first.
I'm probably going to skip MU, barring special circumstances (like the hydra game). I simply don't have the time to have Day 1's like that.

I like my non-game interactions with the MUers that I've had such with, but I found playing to be something of a chore. One of the highest points in DSD 3 was hitting the Interlude; the excitement really came back for that.

On an unrelated note, remind me to apologize for harassing CSPVG and company for involvement levels in games. Nothing like being on the other end of it to bring a point home.

FWIW, I made the post-game suggestion (the most useful kind of suggestion!) to yogs that 5 days probably would've been plenty for a D1 with 17 players vs. 7.5. Long enough so everyone has some kind of record, but not so long that it has 1500+ posts on its own.

Esp. given the blended crowd.

Keep in mind the pace of posting in MU games, at least in my experience, is at least somewhat balanced by how fast it moves. Games are sprints more than marathons - this one had the sprint pace with a more marathon length.

trentonlf: Out of curiosity what were your reads in the game?
ugh unfortunately I was still at page 12 or 13 and in the forming stage. I don't usually get a fully formed idea of reads that early, most people exist in a kind of null soup as I feel my way about. Usually after the midway point on day one, no matter what format I'm in is when I get a set of reads.

My biggest suspects going along were bookwyrm and tom.

SR made a post last night which indicated he was interpreting something said as town, so that went away. Drealmer's answer about wanting and expecting a gog pace made sense so that went away too this morning.

Fable and ubermensch were starting to raise in my suspicions.

I did meta dya this morning and my memory was wrong on how persecuted she felt as town, but I had no idea what to do with her.

Newcomb, stanari, nacho, RW were town reads I was starting to feel pretty good about. Nacho wasn't group scum, that much I knew, no matter the role.
Yeah, Tom was in Dante. He was Falsifier, the vig (who shot the symp but didn't know he hit scum until after game.)

Bookwyrm - I completely understand. It is hard to keep up when you're busy, and when there are meta expectations for you to be really active. Mafiascum has a very similar pace, some games are worse, and I can't play as much as I used to because I'm just too busy. People don't expect everybody to be really active though, and some people end up playing catch up a bunch. Sometimes screaming at the spammers to stop shitposting helps keep down the noise ;)
Big hugs for everyone if you want or need them after that game

I told a friend my reads before asking for the rand and boy was I embarrassed when all five people I called scum were town. Proving the old adage of "never ever play mafia while in a bad headpiece", I suppose.

Anyway. Thank y'all for a game that was nice while it was. Would enjoy another game with you guys sometime, preferably when I'm actually not useless.

e. also the door thing was hilarious

Very sorry to see the game end prematurely. yogsloth undoubtedly put a lot of effort into it, and it's a shame things didn't work out.

Hat's off to all able to keep up, and manage to get through the overload of posts; was pretty distracting and tiresome, even for an observer. But, as is the case with yogsloth's games, it was fun to follow, and had me curious about how things would play out. Perhaps he can give us a variation of the game when he's recharged.
Ouch :(
Sorry the game ended like that... I know yogs will have put a tonne of effort into it and will probably be feeling shit...

I can't say I blame any of the Gog players for struggling, I struggle with the pace we have here sometimes and most of our games probably don't reach that many posts though the entire game, nevermind Day 1...

It does largely seem to be a pacing issue, I suppose as a dedicated mafia community MU probably takes it a little more seriously, here it's a small sideline and there are other forum things going on to read and post in so there's not as much banter as the game seemed to have...
I had written my reads, hit post to hit the locked thread.

Timing was crapola as I had guests arrive ehile I was reading Yogs "mea culpa" and just finished putting the baby to sleep. Now want to send some PMs.

To at least try and make light of it...

As I put it on the list my only scum reads were microscopic - with the Zork exception: Wyrm and Stan. Had Newcomb as microscopic town, and Nacho lock town.

From the banter in here, and reading between the lines it was Trent, Wyrm, Newcomb and Nacho?
Trent, dya, Wytm and someone else I do not remember off the top of my head but neither Nacho nor Newcomb...uber. It was uber.

Uber huh... had Uber as Null, but I wrote it was hella weird that he disappeared after I frowned at him, right after he said he was horrible scum for freezing...

Is there a thread over at MU sumwhere?

And what were you, my friend? A super nice, helpful townie, no doubt, eh?

PM Yog to get a link to the Role list, which includes who got what.

I hear so much about jesters... never actually googled what the heck they are.
No MU thread about this game, Brasas. Only one Yog made was the game thread and that is locked.

Sorry for my part in bickering, imagine it didn't help the mood.

Glad I was right about book and was right to question Nacho''s claim, though I fell for his response and would have gone along with things
