HypersomniacLive: You take that back this instance, mister!

don't have a smart phone.

You all said that you last played here 4yrs ago. Have you been playing forum/online mafia anywhere else since? If yes, do you mind sharing where?
And have you observed/followed any of the games that took place after you stopped playing here?
Also, have you been playing mafia in the physical world? If yes, do any of you play together?

Now off to read what you all have been talking about.
1- withdrawn!

2- me neither!

3 - I haven't been playing mafia online since, no. I also haven't observed any of the games since I left, I was just thinking about doing so when this game began: I did reread some of the games I played in and hosted, which was very enjoyable as most if it I had forgotten. one of the games I hosted I had absolutely no memory of whatsoever! Long time since. I have played a little bit of live mafia since, but not at all regularly. Maybe once or twice with sirP, rabbit and ele. Damnation I only know from gog.com.

what are your thoughts? Why do you ask?

---

yes! damnation is playing. I had thought to include damnation in my lists of lurkers, but when I skimmed the game I found three posts in close succession and concluded that I just haven't been paying attention. But no harm in calling up.

Damnation! What have you found most interesting about the game so far?

Also Vitek, do you think you're being too quiet? Are you enjoying the game so far?
Ha. Because you brought it up, and adalia had recommended it to me, I've just been reading a bit of game 23 - Mitser Krypsyn's high school mafia.

No flashes of inspiration that will be useful for the game, but it made me laugh that some poor bastard ended up on a private-chat-masons team with flubbucket. roleclaimed day one saying "this day chat is not at all useful to town it is just a curse" [interpolated]

May I also request reviving Bucket's rather charming nickname for trentonlf: "Trentwithatentinhispants".
Pure poetry!

JoeSapphire: I was just reading the endgame of game 11. Vitek mentioned that he'd never been lynched on gog. Is that still the situation?
No. :-(

My scumteam at this minute:
SPF
cristigale
aaaand ele, ZFR or Joe (for making way too many lists and sucking up to me)

Vitek: No. :-(
aw! I'm sorry. Who did it?

Can you have too many lists? I have several answers to that question:

1 - no
2 - nope
3 - the more the better
4 - nuh-uh
5 - perhaps if you're insane and everybody around you is awful
6 - never

Your percentages are off slightly.

I'm 95% horseshit and 10% snugly lovey cuteness.

JoeSapphire: boo no-one likes predictions you're all boring.

bler144: Ok, now that HSL has shown up for enough to have a superficial read, I'll bite (with a bit of OMGUS): ;)

Flub is mafia
...<snip for justice>.......
This is patently unpossible.

I won't quote my PM, but the phrase Orange Pylon of Justice could be included.....possibly.

Krypsyn’s high school game was a blast. I had a ton of fun as the Strongman, I even gave Krypsyn all the details on how I wanted the night kills to happen lol. That game and flub’s milk game are my two favorite games I’ve participated in.

Something I forgot to do earlier:

Unvote HypersomniacLive

Vote ZFR

As of this moment the vibe I’m getting is ZFR is trying too hard to appear as town and over explaining his posts. Nothing in particular that he’s said or done, just what gut feeling I’m getting.

Anyone else getting that vibe from ZFR or do y’all think I’m off the mark?

HypersomniacLive: OK, things are mostly back to normal now (nothing major since afternoon; finally had a decent home-cooked meal, and a nice hot shower, yes!).

Just skimmed the current page, and I read this:

Good News.

Now please post some astute observations......unless you're scum.

HypersomniacLive: How the frak do you people manage to browse here on a regular basis using your phones, let alone post, and remain sane??
The GOG forum is a particularly unpleasant experience on mobile as it appears to have no optimisation done whatsoever. The chat feature is almost unusable.

Porn sites work fine on a mobile phone........

so I'm told.

I use my phone 75-85% if the time to post on GOG with and can attest it’s a giant PITA. I use to hav a workaround for chat, but the workaround doesn’t work anymore :-/

While I technically have a smart phone, I don't do internet on it. When I'm mafia posting, I'm either at a full blown PC or on our iPad (and only acting in a very limited manner). I don't know how other people do it either.

ZFR is over explaining his posts? Not what I'd have pegged him with, nor who I'd have pegged for that.

Not saying he's town, just that I wouldn't have placed him as over explaining.

JoeSapphire: aw! I'm sorry. Who did it?
I would rather not remember.
But if you insist I can use this mafia doll to show you where it touched me.

Exactly.

If you had to lynch one person right now who would you pick and why would it be Joe?
*comes to post, sees a number of new post-replies*

Please allow me to rant about the downgrading of the forum replies notification system for a moment - #@$%&!! Being in a mafia game made me realise how bad the change from the bell notifications is. If anyone feels the same way, please add your vote to this wishlist entry, and consider filing a support ticket; if enough people complain about it, GOG might change it back.

Back to the game.

OK, that was quite a bit to go over, and my eyes have started to itch, but good to see the game state has moved out of pure RVS. Let's start with the brig mechanic which has monopolised most of the discussion, then I'll go over specific posts, and comment/ask questions.

Being late to the party, there isn't really anything new to say/add; things I've thought have already been said, and questions I had have been asked, except for one.

After reading the mod's clarifications, rereading the description in the OP, and factoring in past experience, I'm not sure how feasible it is to use it on D1, and actually benefit from it, as Bookwyrm627 seems to suggest. He makes arguments in favour of using the mechanic, but there are a few too many assumptions there (will try and go over them tomorrow). One of his arguments is that it's controlled by the town. While that is the case, how certain is he that town will not only achieve consensus on two fronts, but also make the right decision on each one, especially on D1? And as bler144 pointed out, what do we learn from it if we get it wrong?

I'm also worried that the process of reaching consensus might out a PR, so I'm with cristigale here - if we're going to use it, we need a plan to make it work (which introduces another consensus requirement); it's not as simple as "Yeah, lots of pros, let's do it!"

Small reminder - even if we manage to agree on whom to brig, majority-lynch still requires 7 votes; the issue of new majority auto-dropping by one vote, with all that comes with it, occurs only when the starting total of players is an even number.

@mod

From the OP:
Cylon players in the Brig may not talk to other Cylon players.
[emphasis added]

Is it safe to assume that mafia has already been given the link to their scum-chat? If yes, does the above mean that the brigged player is deprived from their writing privilege, but still retains their reading one?

Since I've not played with any of you before, the answer (assuming people are truthful) to my questions will factor in to my reads.

Go back and read Posts , [url=https://www.gog.com/forum/general/gog_mafia_reboot_battlestar_goglactica/post89]89, , and [url=https://www.gog.com/forum/general/gog_mafia_reboot_battlestar_goglactica/post137]137, he keeps on referring back to previous games to explain his actions. If he had just mentioned in in post 55 and maybe even 89 as well and let it go then it wouldn't be a big deal. But, he goes on and mentions his behavior in past games where he was town in two more posts to explain why he is doing something. Trying to say "Hey look I've done this before and I was town must mean I am town now", or that is the impression I get. There's no need to over explain what you are doing based on previous games unless you are trying to do the LAMIST. That's what I mean by over explaining and it doesn't sit well with me, feels like a scum player trying too hard to show they are town.
EBWOP

Not sure how the formatting got so messed up it should be Posts 55, 89, 120, and 137.
