Actually, guns were introduced to Japan in 1543 thanks to Portugal and is also when gun manufacturing started in Japan. (Some sources add that China introduced firearms earlier, but there was no widespread use.) Although the firearms would have been very primitive by current standards, they would have given an advantage during that time period. Ninjas were spies, snipers, and guerrilla fighters. They would have used guns once they became available.
