Ultimately how your posts are perceived by all the players is what matters. Even if your intentions are good, the way you write or talk about them can make the difference between it being Towny or Mafia. Yes, even the same concepts, ideas, suggestions. How you approach them can make a big difference.

It's something even I'm struggling to master. I could have a good idea that would work, but the way I frame it makes it surprisingly sus. That's just Forum Mafia for you. We can talk about it post-game so it's all clearer.

honestly, i don’t really know who to lynch: if i suspect frost, then i have to suspect pooka, but after their D1 wagon lead against scene, i deem it unlikely that they’d push a wagon against their own, unless it was pre-planned of course- and then the inactive/ less seen players i just have no read on at all so they could be potential scum too… ugh…

also!! someone asked me (i believe vitek?) as to why i looked into lift and not frost N1. i investigates lift because a few people had begun investigations into lift and so i investigated lift to potentially ‘debunk’ those theories because i personally couldn’t really understand why people thought lift was mafia during D1. HOWEVER, why not frost? they already had a lot of attention on them, and YES, i could’ve proved or potentially debunked said theories on frost N1, however a lot of attention was already frost and so i figured that would continue on into D2, and maybe frost would slip up due to their messy posting. in retrospect, investigating frost would’ve been a lot easier for us D2, however there’s not a lot i can do about N1 now.

could somebody/ anybody at all run me through their thoughts on Az, Micro and Catte and why they could be scum? i want to look at them before voting.

While it was a joke in relation to this game specifically as post #1 specifies no bastard rules, I have seen bastard elements used where ninjas really did follow the Stock Ninja Weaponry Trope. It's not something that I really liked as the role is pretty powerful even without that.

A more serious answer...

The way I have always treated the gunsmith is that he owns a gun-sniffing dog (actual thing) and just shows up at the suspected person's house at 3am with his dog. This means that it doesn't matter that the gunsmith can never detect the ninja moving around at night because he doesn't have to. Charlie the gun-sniffing dog with let him know if there is a gun there or not. (Yes, I'm making dogs more powerful than they are, but the alternative is that the gunsmith is randomly grabbing people at night and doing pat downs.)

I voted Micro in #611. Not in the most visible manner but I did.

No neither of us got confirmation about the other's alignment. I asked for it and dedo said if it was meant to be there it would have been in the pm.

But I believe this is just to make us doubt each other. Pretty obvs that catven is town.

I don't expect to have gotten any night flavour, and didn't. The pratice has by and large fallen out of fashion.

I missed this before, but during that infamous historical period, the mafia had a strictly prescribed heirarchy that the lover was at the bottom of - to prevent the lover from rogue-nightkilling their partners, but also so the lover couldn't have done anything about it if the mafia got wise.


As I understand it the poisoner would elect to handle the shared factional kill, and the victim would take a whole day to die.
So if the poisoner took the kill Night 1, then a different mafia took the kill Night 2, there would be no deaths Day 2 and two deaths Day 3.

Poisoner seems to make sense here, as they'd foil the gunsmith and be super effective against the doctor.
And also explains why it appears the mafia have by proxy targeted me: a truly terrible and shameful nightkill target.

Vitek - is there anything in the way your role is described that suggest poisoner? Like maybe it says "if your target is to die that night, they will not die" something like that which might hint at what we're dealing with? I guess it's not super urgent but

I have no clue because I always ran Lovers as Town/Town, but I do think that the games here are far too small to warrant running Mafia/Mafia Lovers. Even if it is to balance super powerful mafia roles, it would be better to tone them down a bit and not do Mafia/Mafia. This is just my opinion.

I can see Mafia/Town work in a smaller game if the Mafia Lover has a secondary ability, which is balanced by giving them a Town Lover that would essentially have mafia immunity. The entire Mafia team is going to have an insensitive to not kill the specific town-aligned person.
