Catventurer: he's harping on Lift being helpful too much, but there's the Barbossa Mafia Code Guidelines in the way.
This is a pretty dishonest read, for three reasons. Firstly, you once more miss the point that I was making : not that help was provided, but that help was phrased as if Csanjuro was certified town (without stressing to them what the difference of roles entail), which could have different reasons (and those who understood my question have addressed these). Secondly because if some people didn't keep wrongly re-phrasing my question as "why would a townie even help out a potential mafioso" I wouldn't have to keep re-clarifying the same thing (the first point above) again and again, re-clarifications which you call "harping". And thirdly, because my point isn't mud-slinging, it's a concrete question that was asking for a concrete answer, that would clear the point once and for all (ie: does Lifth's help in other games, where he was town, also address newcomers in a way that sound like they're certified townies). Clear, verifiable questions do not help the mafia. At all.
PookaMustard: You've been absent for two days now
Is that the case with Ambitionz too ? I think we have nothing from him. Was he announced absent ?
csanjuro: sorry sorry, is that I don't understand quite clearly how to play
Have a look at this whole conversation, where we accuse each others of being potentially mafia members, and where we accuse each others of accusing each others in bad faith. If you're "town" according to the private message you've received from Pooka, then tell us which ones of us seem, in your opinion, to be making a point in good faith, and which ones of us seem, in your opinion, to be making their point in bad faith. Or which arguments seem to make or to not make sense to you. And if you are "mafia" according to the private message you've received from Pooka, well... just pretend to do all that honestly, but actually try to sneakily misdirect people. But again, if you are mafia, I doubt you'd be asking us (unless you already grasped the benefits of it and are toying with us).
If it helps, simply answer these questions :
1) Does any player seem less honest than the others, in the way they make and present their arguments ? Can you point out why ?
2) Would you have expected, in post 47, Lifthrasil's explanation to assume less that your intent is to help Town win and to mention more how the game is being played by the mafia-side ? Or do you think that suspecting Lifthrasil of knowing your affiliation is a deliberately dishonest interpretation of post 47, aimed as falsely accusing Lifthrasil of knowing more than a town player would ?
3) Do you think that Joe casting a random first vote on an absent player is different from casting a random first vote on an already participating player ? Do you think Joe is suspicious for doing that ? Do you think that it is suspicious to say that it is suspicious ?
4) Do you think that a joke like "I'm a mafia member, lol" is indicative of being a mafia member ? Do you think that suspecting a player for having made that joke (arguing that a town player wouldn't make it) is legitimate, or sounds like a dishonest suspicion ?
These questions are difficult to all of us (I'd assume), so we're all speculating. It's shots in the dark, and we usually all end up ridicule for them, in retrospect, at the end of the game. But they are still reflective of our impressions (or what we want people to believe are our impressions). It's the dialogue through which we gauge who is sincere. I'd even say, it's less about being factually right or wrong, but more about the reasons we give for our impressions. Being correct is a bit less important than being sincere and honest. Or sounding so.
I hope I didn't make it sound more complicated than it is. Basically, participate in the (hopefully laid back?) discussion. Other players : maybe ask direct questions to involve newcomers in the debates and get them started ?
