Are there many people who have never played mafia before?

Every time I play with new players I think "We should warn them about how disorienting they're probably going to find it!" and then I forget to. WELL NOT THIS TIME!

Don't worry if you don't know what tf is going on! A lot of us have been playing together for years and have a lot of shorthands and injokes which we will forget to explain. Don't be afraid to ask us if we're not making sense - or straight-up ignore us if it seems like we don't deserve your attention ((probably we don't)).

Primarily this is a game and we're here to have fun! It's a game of violence and we have fun by ganging up on each other and throwing each other out of the game. It seems harsh but we seem to like it!

I haven't played this game in years and never have on GOG before, so I definitely don't know what is going on.

Should I consider Catte being listed as Sanspoof a joke, or a mod slip?

I told him to be beloved Sanspoof, who is actually a catte and therefore adheres to his aesthetic, instead of Salvador Limones a few hours before the game started.

Of course, he'll tell you that it was all HIS idea and he'd thought of it way before I said anything, but only one of us is here right now so who's the credible one, eh?

I would be inclined to believe Joe's story of the name change. As Catte is a cat and so is Sanspoof so the character change makes sense.

My reason for calling it out was just to give an excuse to throw out my vote on the RVS(random voting stage).

Disclaimer: You seem to know the basics of mafia so if at any point I explain something that is completely obvious to you I do apologize. I have never played outside of GOG so im never sure what mechanics of the game are Mafia standards or just GOG hi-jinx.

The sign-up thread still has maxleod listed so that's probably true.

Before I go to work for today, one mod confirmation: Catte's change to Sanspoof was a last-minute pre-game change of heart by him. He PMed me and asked whether he would be allowed to change his character. And since the characters are public anyhow and everyone can read the official character list in the OP, I allowed it.

I'm very pleased to have caused such rampant speculation on the first page. But yes, I just changed my mind and Joe was the one was gave me the push to do so.
