JoeSapphire: ohhhhhh it's that thing

I thought everyone was just playing chicken.

Doesn't the even-number-of-players-means-an-eventual-no-lunch rule only work in a game without power roles?

Or is it a different rule?
I think what's happening is a mixture of both? And yes, I think in the strictest sense it's only definitely the right thing to do in a game with no PRs.

JoeSapphire: so we COULD be at NL-1 right now?
Hmmmmmm, just in case present votes are counted as NL:

Unvote

Everyone watches with mild amusement as Reagan talks to himself while setting up his stand: "Don't want a repeat of last time, what with getting caught with my wires crossed and my pants down....no sir"

Vote No-Lynch

Leoric_AKA_Leo: Vote No-Lynch
If that's a real vote it needs to be bolded to count.

I'm playing chicken, reporting that I'm here, and generally having a good time before getting down to business.

Sigh. Four votes for No-lynch? To the townies among the NL voters: you want us to lose the game, do you? Also, you're setting a bad example for the newbies.

To the new players: no-lynch on Day 1 is very, very bad for Town. The only way we can reliably gain information is by lynching people, looking at their flip and then discussing their wagon that led to their lynch. Yes, on Day 1 it is far more likely that we mis-lynch than that we lynch scum. But it gives us something to work with the following Days. Without a lynch on Day 1, we start just as clueless into Day 2 and scum wins eventually. There are sometimes reasons for a no-lynch on later days. But on Day 1 ONLY scum profits from a no-lynch.

vote Joe

He's the one who jumped at ZFR's joke vote and started a no-lynch train.

Also, it's Joe. He is always suspicious! ;-)

No. You can have power roles as long as they don't affect parity. i.e. they don't affect 1-lynch-1-NK cycle. So you can have Cops, Trackers... etc and it would still be right to vote NL if the number is even.

In a closed setup like this, where you don't know what roles are there, it's very bad.

You of all people should know though that a "false positive" NL mistake is much worse than false negative. i.e. lynching someone when the correct play is NL only decreases town EV slightly. On the other hand, NLing when the correct play is to lynch someone greatly decreases EV.

Alright, I'll bite. Was your No Lynch vote a tacit admission that you don't have a role that affects parity? Whatever you are, you aren't a doctor, a vig, or etc?
