This works for most roles, afaik, but for some the mafia wiki seems to advise revealing the role early on...even perhaps on D1.

Almost any PR is Neutral by this definition. Roleblocker. Vigilante...
Heck even Doctor becomes "Neutral" since he can protect a Mafioso from a Vigilante or SK.

For me the win condition is what matters. If your wincon is same as Town, you're Town.
If your wincon is different, but you can still win alongside Town (Survivor, Lyncher, Jester), you're Neutral.
If your wincon is mutually exclusive with Town's wincon (SK, Mafia, Hidden Lover pair), you're Scum.

I'll be busy the rest of today playing tabletop games with my Saturday group, I'll try to check in when I can. I will be available all day tomorrow though, well most of tomorrow as I will be playing WoW.

Actually I got told Hidden Lover Pair is neutral if the pair is scum and town because then they are like the servants of N'Zoth' indiscriminating slaughtering Alliance and Horde until only them stand anymore.

Sure, trent's multi-agreements with me might seem strange, but the third line of flub's post is plain wrong. If you stretch trent's statements and I squint I can kinda see him Town-reading me with his agreements, but I I never townread him.

And now this. Neutral? OK, this role might not be the most useful one, but it's much further from "Neutral" than say a Compulsive Visitor.

If the only way for them to win is to have Town lose, then they're Anti-Town (aka. Scum), regardless of what the flavour makes them.

Which won't be consolation for Town who lose too.

The fact that they're against Mafia makes them a Third Party. But Scum is what they are.

As ZFR says in Post 531, and also as I said before: my own role also can be useful to scum as well as town, and I am not neutral.

Neither would I.

Heck, I dislike that my own role can help scum if the choices made are wrong....but we have little choice but to play the hand we're dealt as best as we're able.
