bucktoothgamer: Didn't linger on the point very long but I do wonder the reason for deflecting the idea of ZFR and Trent having overly friendly "debate". If someone was to peg those two as scum, hunter made a quick attempt to throw off the scent.
avatar
dedoporno: I read that as tongue-in-cheek remark that was supposed to bring up another friendly duo rather than pull away attention from the first one but maybe I misunderstood. I do hope you're not pointing it out of it only because it concerns yourself and Joe.

And as a side-note - don't be too palsy-walsy with Joe, mkay? I know he's attractive and muscular but he's spoken for ;)
Like I put in the previous post, there is no hiding my bias with taking note of the deflection as it did point the finger at me. The point still stands that it was an comment with the purpose of saying(even if tongue in cheeky) "don't look at these two, pay attention to those two". I probably won't use my vote on hunter just based on that, but will have to re-read their posts again to see if I there reads any other strong affiliation to the other two.

On your second point, I will try and resist. I need to start conversing with the rest of the group for sure.

ZFR: No. Claiming on D1 especially is bad.

Either the person who claims is Town, in which scum get valuable info, or he's scum, in which case what do you expect him to claim? That he's scum? His real role? We'll get false info from him
That is why you weigh the claim alongside all their other posts.

As for if a town claim gives scum info: Town shouldn't be reckless, but sometimes imo you need to take risks to reap great rewards.

ZFR: It's done when you're close to Lynch as a last resort. Like airbags. But having airbags inflate should never be a driver's goal.
This is what I meant...get people to claim range, and then judge their claim.

Or should we wait till near EOD, pick someone then, and risk another mislynch like last game?
avatar
ZFR: Now that I look at it, it wasn't very OMGUSy...
What do you think? As someone who has played instead of modded.
I, as mafia, knew he was sincere so it might have coloured my reads as well, but I personally did not find it much OMGUSy. Most time I found him fairly clamly trying to explain himself and felt a bit resigned, not lashing out at his voters.
It is my only experience with blotunga I think so I can't tell how is usual behaviour is but it doesn't gel much with your "he is prone to OMGUS as town".
But it doesn't automatically make him scum either.

ZFR: Yes, I'll be honest I found your reaction a bit opportunistic too, without committing to a vote.
If finding your case weak but trying to figure out if there is anything to blotunga's reaction is opportunistic then I suppose I am opportunistic.

"If it is crime to love one's country, then I am guilty. And if it's a crime to steal a trillion dollars from our government and hand it over to communist Cuba, then I'm guilty of that too. And if it crime to bribe a jury, then so help me, I'll soon be gilty of that. "

GymHenson: That said, should we suspect anyone who builds ANY wagon before the 24 hour mark before EOD or what?
We suspect those who jump on weak wagon for even weaker reasons, that's for sure.

avatar
GymHenson: I meant single claims of a few people at most only, and preferably those the player base suspects the most...not a mass claim....plz stop trying to make it look like a worse idea than it is.
Suspect most? I thought you voted him because he is as good lynch as any.
What good is to you single claim if it is basically from random person?

avatar
dedoporno: (Vitek even referenced a lot of things I did :D)
Brilliant minds think alike.

Vitek: Suspect most? I thought you voted him because he is as good lynch as any.

I was suggesting that people should reach consensus on who is most suspect...as long as they get someone...anyone...to claim range. As others seem to want to only get those to claim whom they suspect and I am more willing to get anyone to claim range I figured it'd be a nice compromise.

Also what good is it? Because I suspect everyone, and on early D1 I am pretty much more in the dark than usual, so TO ME near anyone is as good as anyone else to get to claim range.
(well unless I had/have a strong enough suspect...then obviously i'd prefer to get a wagon building on them)
Vote GymHenson

Vitek: First tell me, what do you think of ZFR's case?
The closest we have to a solid case on D1. It's not every game that we see a case like this on D1, and I agree with ZFR's sentiment: pretending to ask about the inner workings of the scum is something I remember doing myself, so the reasoning for why ZFR finds blotunga scummy strikes a chord with me.

ZFR: Vote GymHenson
Now yer talking....anything to get this game moving.

(Also a suggestion: if yer town and doing it because yer stuck in the box/sameish mindset of how some GOG mafia players seem to be stuck in, I suggest trying to think outside the box once in awhile.....playing the game according to a certain mindset can be helpful sometimes, but it's a double edged sword as well and can bite one on the behind as well)

No friggin way!

Thanks for opening my eyes.

Joke all ya want....the scum team, if they're competent and have been playing awhile, likely know such sorts of player's reactions to this and that........and by sticking to one "mold" of how to play it only helps them as they can then know best how to "make the monkey dance to their tune".

That is part of why I mix it up in how I play every now and then....makes me much harder for scum to gauge and manipulate I am betting.
I guess not knowing the previous games does have its advantages. I can see everyone from above, from an unbiased, naive perspective.

GymHenson: That is part of why I mix it up in how I play every now and then....makes me much harder for scum to gauge and manipulate I am betting.
It also makes it much harder for Town to figure out if you've been the same as usual, or if you're hiding something. And also doesn't help you in surviving past D1 even when you're Town.

Granted, I think you shouldn't be lynched, at least not right now. But you make the prospect of lynching you on D1 so...I dunno, compelling?

Pookina: Granted, I think you shouldn't be lynched, at least not right now.
Why not?

I'd put more money on him being scum than blotunga right now.

Well I play sadly all time the same. Because I am such good hearted person on borderline to naive, that I have problem trying to gauge reactions, seeing lies or recocnizing when I get manipulated, that my psychotherapist advised me to playing this game so I get better understanding humans.

Well luckily for me this time I am just here to enjoy the show because of this awesome fluff.

Pookina: It also makes it much harder for Town to figure out if you've been the same as usual, or if you're hiding something.
Even if so, I feel the good aspects of the play style(and the enjoyment I get from playing thusly) are worth it...well more often than not anyways.

(Also despite my changing it up, there are some telltale signs of my scum play that I sometimes exhibit even if I don't mean to....and i'm hoping the more observant town are observant enough to pick up on them)

avatar
Pookina: And also doesn't help you in surviving past D1 even when you're Town.
If you mean at all, then I somewhat disagree.....as in a few games iirc the scum team didn't know how best to handle me due to my "unique" play style.

People are free to vote or suspect me all they want.....if I were in their shoes I know I would....although as I said imo people need to not conform so much to one mold so much in these games. But of course to each their own as it should be.

++++

@ZFR-Post282: That eager to get me out of the way? o.0 ;)

(I kid.....I am assuming it is more likely you tunneling due to your own playstyle than you being scum...though my suspicion is raised a bit)

ZFR: Why not?

I'd put more money on him being scum than blotunga right now.
Based on previous incidents, I think the games where GH was lynched early had him turn up Town more often than scum. Plus, usually his scummy or towny levels are more visible on later days.

For instance, in The Shining game, he was already on thin-ice even before SPF sealed his fate. In a game like the first Harry Potter one or wherever he breadcrumbed as cop, he was just that obviously Town. So I think that either way, he's gonna be revealed sooner or later and there won't be a need to waste him early.

I must have missed the conversation on why he's scummy, though. Any posts I should read about him?
