Microfish_1: 3. Giving a good talk to a new player about
mechanics does not a good town-player make.
phaolo: Eh true.
Oh well, at least his explanations were helpful. ;)
(and noone disagreed about the info)
Microfish_1: Thank you for your thoughts and answer.
phaolo: Uh.. you messed up this quote, that was Catte.
True. :-D
Sorry about that!
If I had been so lucky as to draw scum, and if you think that gogtrial was also scum, do you think that we would be arguing over and around each other like this, making such a big production out of nothing? This seems like you are going for the low-hanging fruit here?
Groans. No role PM discussion please. You haven't yet, but please don't.
++++++
Vitek: Phaolo vote is leftover, I have no intent to lunch him (right now).
I think I would be willing to lunch Lift until there is good explanation for his actions.
Then why not unvote and vote someone you want to vote?
Vitek: I am currently most interested in trent because I still find his statement off, even more considering you never were proper mafia and it feels like he is avoiding explaining it a bit.
Then it would be Joe who seems to be very off his game and acted bit jumpy so far but it is hard to get better read tehre as he seems to be very busy outside the game and it could possibly be used as excuse for his behaviour.
Lift would be my number 3 ATM I think.
As for Micro, do you feel like he is making over attempts to lunch you? I see him arguing him with you and it could be said you both are investing similar energy in it so maybe you are the one making overt attempts toget wagon going on him. ;-) (are you?)
So far I find Micro arguing with you to be similar to way he did in #67, my only experience with him and he tended to get too invested in his arguments there as well and to be contrarian to himself so I am bit wary of calling him scummy for it as there it was useful to our mafia team and it is possible it is same here. I can't deny I find some of his point a bit doubtful though (stating how you are likely wagon and later backign off).
Ouch. True, but ouch. Yeah, I do tend to like to win an argument, even if my logic stinks.
What i said (paraphrased) was that there seemed to be a majority pool of people who doubted gogtrial, and I didn't see this happening to others. Hopefully I haven't been played by scum :/
my name is magike catte: Wait what? Is this about GH's RVS vote? I couldn't think of anything funny to respond with at the time and given that it's an RVS vote it didn't really occur to me that it
needed addressing since.
Oh. Thank you.
gogtrial34987: I can't figure out if that's just his playstyle growing, with some OMGUS-feeling from me due to being the target, or something more nefarious...he went straight on to bringing up "the consensus"
I've been trying to grow my playstyle. That it seems different is perhaps a good thing, from a game where I was so awful and pro-scum (as town)? Similarly, some of what got me set up against you was an omgus reaction to your early question which you later mostly explained away.
Re consensus Phaolo is voting you. Blotunga in 148 expressed what i saw as doubt. Joe questioned him (part of what made Joe look bad, yes, but it was there). Lift in 133 mentions you being the 4th vote on Joe, which I misremembered when I was thinking about this. Vitek wondered if you were scum in 119.
So yeah, rereading people's impressions of you a) I grossly misremembered, thought you did say you weren't used to not being town-read or some such, b) there never was a consensus, but more of a handful of people questioning you, of whom Joe is probably scum and should be removed from the equation. Some people are doubting lift the one time when I thought he might lean town, so this might mean that my lift-dar should be inverted. This leaves Blot, Vitek, Phaolo, and myself, who have expressed some interest at some point and I have been shown to (and now realize that I) have bad logic.
That leaves Blot, Vitek, and Phaolo, who do not a consensus make. At risk of contradicting myself again, it seems that i really should go with research instead of gut feeling based on impressions from memory. :(
gogtrial34987: I think you took the wrong lesson from mafia #66 (which I assume is where this comes from).
Making a big performance out of "claiming town", completely without context (you, mafia #66, post #135, will get you a lot of scrutiny. Acknowledging that I'm not seen by everyone as town, as a result of an action I took (me, this game, post #98) - or responding to a newbie without context asking if I was trying to be seen as town (me, mafia #67, post #84) gets much less. We even had a discussion about this in #67. Context is everything, but more, what I'm doing is acknowledging explicitly that my usual play style gets me seen as scumhunting, and thus town, which might not always be warranted.
You are correct about the game. I got burned badly at that point.
Ah, I see what you mean about context. I guess I had been using a one-size-fits-all approach and I should know better. To rephrase to make sure I understand your point, it isn't as much
what is said so much as the
way and the
context of what is said?
TBH, with IRL being extremely stressful these last months (since mid-july), I have forgotten many of the details of previous games. This isn't said as an excuse, but just as a comment.
gogtrial34987: So, consider the question answered: trent does not support his fellow scum.
Does that make you nervous?
Thank you for the information. I appreciate it.
No, it does not in the slightest make me nervous. Why should it? I'm not scum and if he doesn't go out of his way to back up his teammates, it doesn't matter to me personally in this game. What it does tell me is that he is not backing you because of your being on the scum-team together.
Well, I guess after doing a re-skim of what I thought were the salient points, I need to (oh, how I hate to give up my theory, once adopted!)
un-FOS gogtrial (this line is not a vote). There just isn't enough evidence at present against him, and what there seems to amounts to the proverbial hill of beans, so why am I letting myself be distracted by an argument with someone who is -- based on his actions and words thus far -- trending more likely than not to be non-scum?
