So it seems that there is a fair amount of grumbling from the assembled stomachs, as well as the parties claiming ownership of the stomachs, and it is certain that it is soon time for a good hearty plate of something or other, but at this time Miss Pookie Mustard, who is not said to be much of a hot headed doll until this day, jabs a finger toward Large the Lift, and all the guys and a few of the dolls jump back at that, all quite thankful that they are not the ones having fingers jabbed in their direction, and Miss Pookie Mustard calls out in a sort of growl like this:
"Large if you ain't the biggest crumb-bum who ever came to this town. If I am not such a lady I am slugging you right there."
And she is then slipping out what the guys round here call a stilletto and before Large is opening his mouth Miss Pookie Mustard is slipping the stilletto into his eye.
And already the parties assembled are making themselves scarce by this way or another, as the law is liable to cause problems for any guy or doll who gets found at a scene such as this, and I make steps to make myself scarce too.

It is the night following a crap game run by a character by the name of Neat Irv Maclaine, and I would not be mentioning this crap game at all were it nor for the fact that while I am there in position of observer I am observing Miss Pookie Mustard making a four with the dice, and Games O'Rager has two C's on it that Miss Pookie will make this four, and they are both very much pleasured up by the way things fall out, and are splashing their dough about as guys and dolls who get fast dough like to do, and it seems they are particularly pleasured to spot me and are getting me a drink and another and clapping me on the shoulder and calling me pal and we all give the appearance of having a most pleasant evening, and so they insist that they are buying me lunch at Gog's the following day, which, as I am saying to you already, is today.

Well if I am aware of who our companions for this luncheon are to be, I would be making some excuse or other, for characters like Miss Pookie Mustard and Games O'Rager are characters who take excuses very well, but things are as they are and I am once again in the back room of Gog's with the most unsavoury guys and dolls you could assemble in this part of town, and I am most concerned when Scenes Supplamicz pinches me hard on the elbow and tells me in a mournful voice how Cadaver Slim has snuffed it in the night.
"how's that?" I ask him, though later I think I should not have asked him this, as a guy who asks this sort of question in our town is likely to find himself in a similar predicament to Cadaver Slim.
Well Scenes explains to me how someone has got into Slim's lodgings, while he is out at Jimmy's blowing smoke in dolls' faces. and lain in wait for him, which many of us present agree is a dirty trick, and when Slim gets back to his room having had more than one of Jimmy's drinks and none-too-clever on account of it, this someone has put several slugs into Cadaver Slim, and this is more slugs than Cadaver Slim is willing to have put in him.'

Hello people, it's good to be here once more. I am still catching up because I think I overestimated my reading speed and there are 19 pages of intrigue that I had only read the first before Joe asked me to come in. Right now I'm in page 15 reading Pooka's vigilante standoff, so it won't be long until I'm caught up. But it is a worthy effort if I want to help catch them scum. I have a few reads so far, some I'm convinced must be Town and others that probably must be scum. Will share all of that probably tomorrow morning.

One word about Lonzi. It's a pity she had to back down, I was looking forward to see her enjoy the games we play here and join us regularly. Hopefully she will anyway.
