That's not a cryptoclaim, you just outright claimed your faction. You seemingly did the equivalent of saying "I'm Vincente Spinelli, mafia x". I mean it's inadvisable to immediately claim even as town, so even if you didn't realise you were mafia it was a pretty dim move. As for not realising you were mafia, the PM posted in the OP seems pretty clear to me. Anyway, we'll resolve this soon enough.

That's why you should ALWAYS check with OPs of games via PM on what parts of your starting PM mean what/what is ok to post/etc.

I'd say that's kind of silly. Assumptions are generally safe to make, especially when you have no suspicion of mistakes. Otherwise, you'd have to always check with the OP whether he sent you the correct PM or not.

And I say common sense dictates one should always double check when in doubt, to avoid making such blunders.

If the OP pm is clear and you know what it means, then fine.....use the info as you will and as allowed by the game setup. But if the PM is unclear or the setup is confusing one should always err on the side of caution.

You're completely missing my point. In your example, the PM would have been something like this: The whole damn PM makes it obvious you're a mafia member, the win condition, the fact you can eliminate people at night. The scum chat!
To start claiming at the beginning of the game would be silly if you were town, but to do so as mafia is 10 times worse. It doesn't matter what the mod is calling the mafia in this particular game, it should still be obvious to you that you are mafia and thus ridiculous to start claiming your actual identity.
It's really only not your fault if your PM had the wrong win condition.

Again you seem to miss my point. Why would you, as mafia, start throwing around free info? As I said, it's silly to immediately claim as town but if you know you're mafia it's even weirder to immediately claim and especially weird to immediately claim your actual role.
