supplementscene: Well played on your reads but I didn't find your or Vitek's arguments convincing and did think you came across scummy.

See you and Trent really did really get Flub & Lift. And I nearly got Lift too but was convinced you were the better target
avatar
adaliabooks: I think you did pretty well for a first game, particularly towards the end.
The accusation of Vitek was actually what made me sure you were town, because I knew scum wouldn't go to that effort (particularly when you had already achieved lynch on a townie), but I also knew it was wrong as Vitek was the only solid town read I had in the game.

As others have said, you just need to question your reads and actions. Getting too bogged down with what you believe is correct, particularly in the face of others telling you you're wrong, is never good for town. You have to always be open to changing your mind.
What made Vitek a strong town read for you?
Yes, in between the game was quite slow and plagued by absences. But the endgame was intense and frankly I was surprised that we made it.

@Joe: btw, I really love my 'Right in the Roke' award! That's going on my shelf. (Sorry, trent, for bkoking you every night. But we thought you were protected!)

supplementscene: What made Vitek a strong town read for you?
I don't know really, there are just a few players I can town read really well and Vitek is one of them.
I just didn't find anything about his play scummy.

Vitek: Yog is around and I learnt already people don't want to hear anything else so I will say, you all played perfectly (including me) and it was a pleasure.
Even deadbolt. It was great to chat with you, mate.

Once again it showed how on point it is to be concerned with profile pictures and that pursuing people for banalities is much more useful than actually trying to figure out who plays scummy. So the usual.

Nah, I am just bitching, overall it was fun. First half was kind of marred by many people posting very little or not posting at all but what can you do.
Except that ZFR fellow of course. On both accounts. He played extremely poorly (one day I will play vanilla properly; or draw something else), but at least he posted a lot.

Vitek: I did not even refuse claim but w/e.
Nor me actually. I would have claimed if the gun hadn't been massively jumped.

avatar
Vitek: There was cop, commuter, roleblocker, loud visitor (not really useful role). What else?
Uh... Distractor (moi)? Actually I think that's it so maybe town was a little underpowered consider the whole mafia had powers. I might have got rid of one of their informative roles and had a goon instead, but the game probably would have played out similarly (although I haven't read the scumchat yet).
Looking back Flub was lurking hard and not offering analysis. That should have been a bigger tell I suppose. He was also on the SPF lynch. Voted Mchack last when it was obvious he was getting taken out to distance. Used subtle distancing with Lift

avatar
supplementscene: Is it 3 or 4 to invoke the hammer? If it's 3 Mafia have won. They're probably going to win anyway. I can't see Trent coming over on the Vitek train and we won't have the numbers otherwise.

flubbucket: No it takes four to get a lynch this time.

Role claim time.

Since I'm at L-1 I will make a last ditch to avoid mislynch.

I'm BellaBella the Bellossom. I can choose to visit any player and dance the healing dance for them. (It's the doctor role).

Night One I danced for Sage (just to me the sexy man) no other reason. (Flavor stated I wasn't seen)
Night Two I danced for trentonlf. (Flavor said basically he couldn't "see" me whatever that means.)
Night Three I danced for Hunter6656. (Flavor also said he couldn't "see" me as well.)

I have no clue what "seeing" means other than what I can surmise is a block or a hinted at commutation.

Lynching me will be a total mislynch.

DO NOT DO IT.
This really warranted more analysis. The role wasn't fleshed out and dancing for Hunter didn't make any sense.

supplementscene: What made Vitek a strong town read for you?
You know, I was town read by basically every living player and by most dead as well. SPF was exception but he need me to be scum. :-)
Beacuse I did nothing anti-town, was willing to re-evaluate things and was trying to figure out the game. Those are usually quite strong tells.

Thing is, I get you got exicted by building your first proper big case, but it was just unsubstantial.
It was quite apparent you went into building your case with preconception of me being scum and you were just confirming your notion.
In fact things, like not quoting you, giving yog town cred for mchack's attacks on him, neutral interactions with mchack's and other things meant nothing and make nobody scummy but because you were looking for scumminess in my words, you spinned everything in a way that would fit your view.

By being so exited about your case you got too attached to it and refused to accept any objections by anyone, to listen to any arguments and to look at posts of others players that contradicted your perception of the game.
You need to accept that you just have to re-evaluate sometimes and that other players could be sometimes right and you are wrong.

I realize I played quite poorly most of the game, as I just couldn't get proper reads. I was wrong on most people and I gave too much weight to some weirds feelings over hard fact. But I was willing to pursue different avenues and even if I suspected anyone,I listened to them and others and in the end I was able to figure out where the scum team lies. Because they were A. both playing in anti-town manner B. other options for scum team just didn't make sense.

So what am I saying, you have to be looking ofr scum, not decide someone is one and then go looking for evidence and you have to be willing to admit you may be wrong.
Also, it is more important to look for who plays in way to help town and solve the game (towny looking players are more likely to be town, no matter what mafiosos told you) instead of getting drown in marginal technicalities and semantics.
People play differently and express themselves in various manners that not always align with your own behaviour, but differences in speech or posting can't be automatically taken as scummy thing. Strange doesn't equal scum.

SirPrimalform: Nor me actually. I would have claimed if the gun hadn't been massively jumped.
Same here. :-)
And both done by town. I wonder if there perhaps wouldn't be some value in town not-hammering prematurely. :-)

avatar

I might have got rid of one of their informative roles and had a goon instead, but the game probably would have played out similarly (although I haven't read the scumchat yet).
If that is all then it sure was but it was not what lost it to us.
As I said pre-game. I expect Joe's to be unbalanced crazy mess (in a good way) and I joined with those expectations so I couldn't be surprised by it. In fact, I was somehow surprised there wasn't more roles around. :-)

avatar
supplementscene: This really warranted more analysis. The role wasn't fleshed out and dancing for Hunter didn't make any sense.
I am aware this indeed is fake claim but claim doesn't necessarily have to be fleshed out. Hunter said something like "maybe Sage just liked to go out and have fun" and it was town claim. So throughness doesn't warrant towniness. :-)
But otherwise you are correct, his usage of the ability made little sense.
avatar
Lifthrasil: The question I'm entertaining now is: should I put Vitek at L-1 nonetheless? You won't quickhammer, or will you? And if my town-read on Hunter is right, he won't quickhammer either but wait a while.
Who would guess that these incredibly scummy sentences will turn out to be correct after all. :-)

Yes, the only power we really used was bkoking in the roke. Flubb never used his power but kept slaughtering instead. And mchack got lynched early and hadn't even the chance to tell us his results from N1.

ZFR: Except that ZFR fellow of course. On both accounts. He played extremely poorly (one day I will play vanilla properly; or draw something else), but at least he posted a lot.
You were the bestest of all.

There was nothing that wrong with your play I'd say but it is usually not prudent to fake claim as town but certainly if you do, you can't claim something that involves another person that should be able to confirm your claim when such person doesn't exist. ;-)
Where's the scum chat?

Lifthrasil: Yes, in between the game was quite slow and plagued by absences. But the endgame was intense and frankly I was surprised that we made it.

So if we did lynch you. Trent would have been able to spy but would be killed anyway right? We would have to find Flub and agree on him. While Trent/Vitek read right they weren't persuasive enough in their analysis to win me over.

Gah, I almost drew you roadmap explaining why he is scum. :-)

Here it is: https://quicktopic.com/52/H/xTTJ8QJbYAj

And yes, if I had been killed, flubb would have had no choice but to try to kill trent. After his doctor-claim went unchallenged it was a reasonable assumption that trent would be unprotected anyhow. But then again he would have been in difficulties explaining why he didn't protect trent...

But because of my tunneling I thought you were setting up a miss lynch.

Last game I tunneled hard and got about 3 players read. The one I was most sure about rage quit, which I was sure confirmed I was right but turned out to be town.

LOL I think I've thought of a way of cheating as town but I won't share it

I think you should share it. If it's viable then we need to be aware of it and if it's not viable then we know not to worry.
