Lifthrasil: Why? Sure that vote was strange and I, as a mod, would probably have modkilled yogs for that, especially with the two 'don't post!' warnings before that. But doing something stupid and risking a modkill is NAI. So why did that blunder make you want to push yogs?
avatar
SirPrimalform: It struck me as an "Oh shit, I'd better get on the wagon!" panic vote that was so panicky that he did it without catching up on the thread. As I said, I would certainly have had some questions for him if he hadn't turned up dead.
Ah, I see.

Your 'but I wouldn't act like this if I were scum' is of course WIFOM. And I still don't see how breadcrumbing an electric pokemon makes Vitek scum. He didn't lie (if he really was going to, you prevented that prematurely) and all the attacks are all over the place. I think I used an electric attack too, somewhere. In my understanding they are just pure fluff.

Hunter65536: Just seems a little off to me that there is a role blocker kind of role on both town and scum teams. (more experienced players can correct me if I am wrong here)

The way I see it someone with Traitor role doing that would gain doctor's protection (unconfirmed role and begs the question why scum didn't directly go for trent, but maybe they believed yogs was the doctor ¯\_(ツ)_/¯) and good amount of town cred as well.
What? And What?
Yes, one role-blocker on each side is unusual, but not 'a little off' in the sense that it can't be true. Yogs having been a RB is confirmed by the mod. And if you believe trent being the cop, you should also believe that he has been blocked. Yogs, being confirmed town now, surely didn't block trent. That would only be a reasonable assumption if yogs had been a jailer who tried keeping trent safe. But according to his flip, he just puts his target to sleep and doesn't protect it. So there must be annother role-blocker. Who blocked the quasi-confirmed cop and therefore is scum.

2. a Traitor usually doesn't know who the scum members are. So no. In any case it's weird that you try to throw shade at trent ... and further below mention him as your towniest read.

About your post #538: yes, going back over mchack's posts I can see where the impression comes from. He really never pushed me. But the same can be said about Sage, where he alternated between moderately supporting her and suspecting her just for show without actually pushing (apart from asking for her to be replaced). So, by your own reasoning Sage looks like mchack's buddy. Which would make you scum ... which, thinking about it, does fit quite well! Side note: post 215, which you quote, was aimed at ZFR, I think. Not primarily at me.

OK, my lynch candidates for today would be in order of preference:

SPF - preferred target. Looked scummy yesterday. Explains more today but still his fixation on Vitek's bread-crumbing doesn't make sense. Looks to me like scum who focused too hard on one player and now has to keep suspecting him to appear consistent.

Hunter - sure, that will appear OMGUS. But the way how he first tried to throw doubt at trent looked scummy. Then, when that didn't work, he rowed back and joined the consensus that trent is town. To me that looks like scum testing whether trent's 'confirmed town' status can't be shaken up a bit. Understandable, since a confirmed cop is about the most dangerous thing for scum that there is.

adalia: Here I agree with trent. I somehow get the feeling that adalia is scum trying too hard to be town. And let's not forget that he replaced deadbolt, who may have dropped out because of not knowing how to play scum.

Neutral or 'only lynch to avoid no-lynch': Flubb, Vitek, Scene (although flubb hops back and forth between 'leaning scum' and 'neutral' for me)

Not going to lynch: trent and myself, obviously.

Time to put my vote where my preference is:
Roundhouskick SPF
They're off! Some strong blows have been delivered already!

Hunter65536: This is going to sound weird and I think it might be not very probable but is it possible that trent is a traitor? That way he might know one of the scum members. (read the mafia wiki description, don't know myself)

Just seems a little off to me that there is a role blocker kind of role on both town and scum teams. (more experienced players can correct me if I am wrong here)
avatar
Vitek: Yog claimed to be roleblocked before. We know yog is town. There is no reason to not trust yog ergo mafia has roleblocker. Unless yog made it up or blocked himself. :-)

I once played game where I lynched player on basis there can't be 3 roleblockers. Well, there were...

avatar
Hunter65536: Trent
- Barring a very unlikely scenario he does seem to be town so I am placing him here for now
avatar
Vitek: Why did you try to sow some doubts with your theory if he is your most towny read?
Well, sowing doubts was not my intention, I was only considering possibilities. Even the unlikely ones have to be explored before being rejected. In my mind the probability of Trent being town is higher than him being traitor or scum. I guess even my most Towny read is not a certain one if that makes sense.
Good example about your other game, I haven't played much so I wasn't sure if it was possible scenario. Could you point me to post by yogs about being roleblocked? I think I missed it.

supplementscene: *How did I get here?*
Less oblivious questions and figuring out mechanics and more actual input is in order.

Lifthrasil: He didn't lie (if he really was going to, you prevented that prematurely) and all the attacks are all over the place. I think I used an electric attack too, somewhere. In my understanding they are just pure fluff.
To be fair here, I started to use electric-based (well electric-sounding) attacks somehwere in the middle of D1. Then, when adalia asked if anyone but him knows Pokemon I even looked up Pikachu attacks and used them until the end of D1.
And that's all, folks.

I agree about adalia with both of you. He is just off.
I named him as no. 1 scum in my last overview after all.
What I strongly disliked is this post, where he both tries linking yog to being scumbuddy with ZFR and also mentioning if ZFR survives he can get protected at night while mafia can kill his lover as if accepting he is town.
I would disagree with Hunter about him scum hunting. Most of the game he was either trying to push Lift or throwing shade yog's way. Plus tried to lynch absent Sage.

Let's not also forget who he replaced for (deadbot).
Fun fact, adalia's scum list on D1 consisted of ZFR, yog and Bookwyrm.

I think I even find adalia to be better scum candidate than SPF.

Looking through his post, I am trying to figure out his relation with SPF.
In post 401, he mentions people on ZFR wagon and gives SPF null read (while naming him SPF50 for some reason), while ie. yog gets slightly scummy read and then lists his preferred lynches and lists SPF as second one right after Lift.
2 posts later he says he would be up for SPF lynch beacuse SPF can cope under pressure and another 2 posts later mentions SPF as there being nothing wrong with him (but not towny either). Since then he only mentioned him in toDay post about being happy to lynch him, after I voted SPF and 2 other people stated willingness to push that wagon.

It gives me some impression of discrepancy from adalia and while it I lean from my read on SPF being his buddy and adalia throwing him in there for good measure but never pushing him until wind started to turn that way, I am not that sure about it as much as I would like.

I am going to Razor Leaf adaliabooks for the moment but I am more than willing to jump back to SPF.

Othert than that I am fine with scene's lynch and would like to see more of Hunter to decide but other than that I have not much interest in attacking others.

Hunter65536: Good example about your other game, I haven't played much so I wasn't sure if it was possible scenario. Could you point me to post by yogs about being roleblocked? I think I missed it.
Here.
I wonder how well you read the game as it was one of the main topics for D2.
avatar
Vitek: (while naming him SPF50 for some reason)
That was a joke no one got :(

SPF is the rating giving to sun cream (in the UK anyway) with SPF 50 being the highest (I think? One of the highest anyway).

As for the rest of your post.... nice but completely inaccurate.

It is ironic that literally all my top scum picks turned out town, but I don't think the link between Bookwyrm, ZFR and yogs was an unreasonable one to make at the time, just because it's turned out to be completely wrong now.
Plus, if I was scum then killing off the people I'd been setting up to mislynch would be a bit foolish and pointless really don't you think?

Now it could well be someone purposely killed people I had scum read to try and set me up, but even that doesn't really fly as usually you would kill off the people scum reading me if you wanted to set me up, not the other way around.

As for scum hunting... I would if anyone else was actually active. Everyone is keeping their cards very close to their chests and not saying much, half the players in the game have barely given a read on anyone much less made any kind of concentrated attack that could be dissected and analysed..
So I'm just doing what I do best, lynching people.

If you guys want to lynch me next, go ahead.

adaliabooks: Plus, if I was scum then killing off the people I'd been setting up to mislynch would be a bit foolish and pointless really don't you think?
Well, you wanted them dead so much you resorted to both mislynching and NK to get rid of them. Sounds reasonable.
Are you saying you were deciding the kills yourself and no buddies had no word in it?

This I can undestand.
It's good to know even mafia have hard times building case out of nothing. ;-)

Why are you so resigned?

If you think that makes sense, great. It doesn't to me.
No as I'm not scum :P
But even if I were do you think my buddies would be killing off the people I was trying to build cases against or killing people to make me look bad?

But you're trying your best.

The game just seems to be moving very slowly. There's nothing to get my teeth into so I'm bored.
I’ll be on the road most of today but will check in as often as I can.

As for Hunter’s theory I think it’s not an issue. I actually give him some town cred for it. He’s thinking of all possible scenarios and sharing those thoughts. After thinking on it last night I’ll add Hunter to my list of not voting for at all today.

Why do you think I would think he's lying, isn't it obvious?
And by the way, Vitek's attacks weren't all over the place until I showed my hand. Every vote he placed on the first day was electric, save for the first (which must have been before he had the idea). As soon as I showed public suspicion he stopped using electric attacks. I already demonstrated this by linking to every single one of his votes at that point.

avatar
Vitek: To be fair here, I started to use electric-based (well electric-sounding) attacks somehwere in the middle of D1. Then, when adalia asked if anyone but him knows Pokemon I even looked up Pikachu attacks and used them until the end of D1.

See lift, I didn't completely imagine it! Maybe I'm wrong about everything else, but Vitek was consistently and consecutively using Pikachu's attacks. I might be wrong about the motivation for doing it, but he definitely did it.

Town points for Vitek for pointing that out when scum!Vitek could just sit back and get me lynched. Some scum points to lift for pushing for my lynch despite not really paying attention.

avatar
adaliabooks: That was a joke no one got :(
I got it!

Lynches I would support:

lift - All my interactions with him today have felt weird, seems to be angling for the easy lynch while trying not to seem to eager
Vitek - bumped down by lift, but I'm still not sure
adaliabooks - hmm, two of the people pushing him are on my lynchlist and the third basically hasn't been in the game until now and I have zero read on them. But they all make some good points.

Lynches I won't support:

trent
myself

I won't change my vote now, but would be willing to.
avatar
SirPrimalform: Vitek - bumped down by lift, but I'm still not sure
Well, at least I broke your tunnel vision. That's something, I guess, if you are town. :-)
Its funny. I just realized something: your weak attack on Vitek actually helped convince me that Vitek isn't scummy. That's not a good basis to town- (or neutral-) read someone. I should do a re-read of both you and Vitek. But I don't have any time. Sorry. Im just quickly here between two meetings. I'll look in in the late evening.

Meanwhile lynch me if you must. We can afford an error, actually, thanks to having already eliminated one scum. Still, I would prefer to lynch scum over sacrificing myself.

CU later
Maybe don't slow down.

So you're willing to go on record with your preference to lynch scum over sacrificing yourself.

Awesome..... -_-
Speaking of distancing, did you know that on Day 1 mchack (mafia in case you forgot) addressed deadbot/adalia exactly 0 times and SPF not once directly and only time he mentioned him was to say hi super lurkiness is still better than Lift's redundant posts.

In compariosn he talked to yog (town, you know) 9 times, scene and me (100% town for me) 6 times and trent (95% town), Sage and ZFR (town) 4 times but he also voted ZFR and mentioned him several times.

Other low interactions are flub with two but at least he got few mentions (but not that much to make me at ease) and Lift only 2 as well but he also got vote from mchack and got mentioned several times.

On D2 there were only 5 mchacks' posts before trent's result reveal and mchack mentioned SPF in 4 of them and quoted in the fifth.
Adalia got quote and other mention from him too.
Admitedly SPF too became much more visible on D2, so it could be because of that but he also mentioned it 2 before as suspect for lurking (remember on D1 SPF's lurking was better than Lift's posts)

What I took from it is that mchack seemed to be much comfortable talking to some people than others.

I might have miscounted somewhere but it should be hopefully mostly correct.

I also noticed he tried few times to push Sage as suspect/lynch target for absence and that gives Hunter mild town credit.
OMG did you write a lot during my absence!

avatar
flubbucket: So you're willing to go on record with your preference to lynch scum over sacrificing yourself.

Awesome..... -_-
Yes. I know. A daring statement on my part.

I went back over Vitek and I don't see the scumminess that SPF sees there. Sure, there is the 'let's pretend to be Pikachu' thing, but I still fail to see how scum-Vitek would profit from that. So this behaviour is NAI, since Vitek didn't actually lie.

I am, however, not surprised that SPF switched tracks after it became clear that he wouldn't get enough support for lynching Vitek. Trent, the confirmed towny, had already named me as his favourite target. So SPF could safely hop onto that. After all scum will feel some pressure to achieve a mislynch today after losing one of theirs yesterday. So: my vote stays and after going back I'm actually even more confident that SPF is scum. First lurking, then making a bogus case against Vitek, then latching on to trent's suspicion. All things that would fit for scum.
This was my first post today, didn't post, I've started writing another post since, posting this one now so I can post the other in 10 minutes

I haven't played as much the last couple of days as I've been busier and partly because I'm unsure of where to go at this stage. It's hard because Scum are playing well hiding their alignment. Far better than in my SecretHitler game where there was more obvious slips.

I think SPF has had a strange approach to the game.

avatar
trentonlf: Ok so last night I tried to meditate on lift. I was getting a gut feeling he might be scum. Just like Mchack he has been appearing as helpful as he can, but he has not really put himself in a situation that can come back on him as looking bad. I got the trying to appear townie vibe.

Sirprimalform, he has not been overly involved in the game except to show up and comment and seem involved. His fascination with Vitek's avatar and attacks seemed like a giant stretch to try and find something scummy out of nothing.

adaliabooks, Hard to say what exactly it is with adalia but at times I get a feeling he's scum trying to appear as townie as possible

Supplementscene, I know he keeps getting a pass because he's new and doesn't understand exactly how the game works, but he's had plenty of time to look at how forum mafia works yet he keeps posting like he has no clue half the time. I can't help but suspect it might be all an act.

My order of preference for lynch:

Lift
SPF
Supplementscene
adalia
Does the result of this mean Lift is either a godfather or protected by a roadblocker? Or could it just be a roadblock on all of your reads.

EDIT yes it seems you could be personally blocked, so nothing can be taken here

And you're saying if I'm town I'm an idiot, cheers

avatar
Lifthrasil: Also: welcome Hunter! Thanks for stepping in. Are you scum? Or how do you explain that you were completely absent for the first two Days? ;-)

Hunter65536: Nah, I was mostly sleeping :p

Now that my crackpot theory is out of the way I will put up reads I have got till now, in the next post.
Trent provides a conundrum. Town don't want to kill it's investigative cop. But the longer he stays alive at night the more suspicious he gets. And isn't Trent a bigger threat than Yogs? Unless there is a roadblocker in place.

Ofcourse Scum may keep him alive so we eventually suspect him and then they get a townee lynched. But then they risk being caught out.

And the other question mark on Trent is, how did he guess Mchack with the odds against it. Mchack didn't do anything particularly suspicious either.

But Trent if Scum/Traitor/Godfather he can also lie about his results now and get a townee lynched.
