Right, I'm probably going to sleep so won't be around day end.

I still think this didn't end up badly compared to had I not claimed or claimed vanilla. There was no other wagon anyway so I was getting lynched. Doing what I did I denied Town the information on who would have hammered me otherwise, but at the same time they got extra information from reactions to my lie.

Good night all.
Oh! Taken down by a critical hit!

Battle Update!

7 - ZFR is being attacked by supplementscene, Lifthrasil, Vitek, SirPrimalform, adaliabooks, Mchack & Yogsloth
2 - Lifthrasil is being attacked by ZFR & Bookwyrm627
1 - supplementscene is being attacked by Sage103082

0 - Vitek
0 - Sage103082
0 - McHack
0 - Yogsloth
0 - adaliabooks
0 - Flubbucket
0 - Bookwyrm627
0 - SirPrimalform
0 - trentonlf
aren't being attacked.

and Flubbucket & trentonlf aren't attacking anybody.

It'll take 7 attackers to eliminate a player.

The battle had steadily become more intense - each participant holding their own, until supplementscene unleashed a powerful CHANGE VOTE FROM ADALIA TO attack, which hit ZFR right in the nose. ZFR, enraged, turned on the attacker and attempted to bring a stunning KARATE CHOP on supplementscene's weak spot, Lifthrasil leapt in at that moment, and blocked with an ELECTROCUTE attack. ZFR beat his own head madly, let out a howl of frustration, and RAGE attacked left, right and centre. Vitek protected many people with a LIGHT SCREEN attack, while SirPrimalform flicked his tail back and forth; the infamous TAIL WHIP attack: This, in conjunction with adaliabooks' perfectly-aimed STRING SHOT weakened the fighter significantly, just in time for Mchack and Yogsloth to finish him off with a swift succession of VOTE attacks - one in the bum, and the second right between the eyes. ZFR fainted clean away.

With a harsh alarm, the lights went out in the arena, and the cage doors surrounding the ring swung open. An enticing food smell wafted from the cages, and the pokemon returned. The cage doors snapped shut after a few moments.

"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, WE'VE HAD OUR FIRST KNOCK OUT!!"
The crowd roar.
"My personal Congratulations to everybody who had SQUIDGE THE PRIMAPE of the CHALLENGERS as down for elimination in the first match. Will you collect your winnings immediately, or will you go for a winning streak, and put them straight into a bet on the next round?"
Squidge was a fighting-type pokemon, whose special move LOW KICK was unlikely to have given it much of an advantage in the action phase. No, I would say that Squidge the Primape had no special abilities at all.

It is now the action phase. Get your actions to me before this time tomorrow, and we won't have to wait about all weekend for me to get back before we can begin the second battle phase. No posting.
The buzzer sounds and the cages swing open.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, if you had a bet on Ophelia the Tangela to be the first victim of the kiiiiiilllleeeeer pooooookeeemon, please collect your winnings from any one of the betting booths. Tangela is a plant type pokemon, and Ophelia's special move Vine Whip, wouldn't have been able to accomplish much from behind those bars! No, Ophelia isn't likely to be missed by the Challengers.
Who will be the next elimination? Who will be the next victim? Place your bets ladies and gentlemen, and win big!

Bookwyrm627 has been killed.

The second battle phase has begun!!!!
I'm not sure how much I'll be able to do admin over the weekend. Hopefully I'll have a moment at some point, but there's a possibility I won't be able to internet till monday.

dealine on the 5th or whatever
Someone used Murder-In-The-Night! It's Super Effective!
Only on for a short bit. I will be unavailable most of tomorrow, but Sunday and Monday I should be around all day.

Seeing how the day ended yesterday for me yogs and Vitek are off the table today. I have a good solid town read on both and it would take a lot of convincing to sway me to vote one of them. As for who I find to be of most interest now is Sage. She came on briefly before the day was over to vote supplementscene and then disappeared again. I would think if she was town then she would have showed up before the day ended or at least posted that she would be unavailable to be around for the end of day.

Vote Sage

My question for everyone again is who is your pick for scum and why?
Hiya everyone (Also hi to adalia great that you've joined us :) I'm sorry I could not have been there for deadline. It was a stressful workday and I really didn't have the time to write any more than I did. When I got home yogs had had already hammered and I fell asleep while trying to read up on everything I had missed.
Guess it could've gone way worse than that.
oh well :/ hopefully this deadline I'll be there. The fifth should be good.

pick for scum suspect for now is SPf. for his advanced lurking skillz.
and yes yogs has moved toward the town side in my book too after this end of day.
Ok so Bookworm has been merked, the question is why? One of his last posts show that he was one of the few posters criticising Lift alongside the dead ZFR. He was one of several who criticised Scene and Adalia.

avatar
adaliabooks: Am I the only one here who actually has played Pokemon? (judging from a lot of the comments it would seem so)
avatar
Bookwyrm627: I've played Red, Silver, and some of that one on the Gamecube where you have double battles and steal the shadow pokemon.

-----

I see that Adalia subbed in for Deadbolt, so clearly Deadbolt was indeed scum. Of course, he subbed in for me last game, and I was town (and therefore half expecting the universe to implode before the sub, to avoid having to reconcile the paradox), but maybe that was because it was a temp sub.

Anyway.

Supplement using misrepresentations to launch attacks is a bad look.
Lift's hyper aggression and then buying the misrep's is also a bad look.
Adalia's the third because Adalia.

So there's my early picks for the scum team for the big money.

Unsleep talk Deadalia
Knock Off Liftrasil
So is this post any motivation for his murder? Perhaps Scum is very clever and sees this post and thinks 'I'm none of these posters, they will have nothing to go on and town on town violence will persist'. And perhaps they randomly town slayed.

Was ZFR v Lift town on Scum or town on town? We don't know.

I realise I too now like quite suspicious. Scene was onboard with the ZFR lynching early and made a mistake with my maths that meant I made the urgency of all getting onboard for 1 lynching, ie ZFR, to be more urgent than it in fact was.

Scene also criticised Bookworm accusing him of possible scumminess though. Surely if Scene is Mafia he doesn't kill someone he's just accused of being scum?

Adalia we know has taken over from a very strange poster who wanted out. Adalia also said "on board with lynching ZFR. My current hypothesis is that (ironically) Bookwyrm is his buddy". If Adalia is scum this is quite useful distancing. Adalia can't be scum because he accused Bookwyrm and he wouldn't bother if he was going to kill him anyway. Except he very may well have done.

Thoughts?

trentonlf: Vote Sage

My question for everyone again is who is your pick for scum and why?
Not sure I entirely agree about yogs, Bookwyrm and ZFR both flipping town certainly blows my theory out of the water he looks townier but I wouldn't say he is lock town...
What makes you so sure he is town?

I agree Sage needs looked at.

I'd have to take a good look at the wagons to see what's going on, but Lift certainly looks a little worse today. I still have a bad feeling about mchack (though not for any specific reason), but most everyone else is null or town leaning at the moment.
Weren't we meant to get some information overnight from one of our roled players? Where is it?

My general feeling is we as town have to lynch the players who had something to gain from Bookwyrm's demise. Namely Lift, Scene and Adalia. Yes I realise I have to play the martyr for this to work. We also need to eliminate the lurkers. It's just who do we get first? Mafia's best tactic is to appear ultra town and not pick fights. But Lift and Scene have been aggressive. I'm torn between the lurkers and the aggressor in Lift. It could also be a poster who seems ultra town, no way of knowing.

More Bookwyrm posts. In reply to Trent (I don't think there's anything in this).

avatar
trentonlf: As a matter of fact I think that's a good question of everyone. I don't want a list of what you think of everyone, just one name of who you think might be scum and why.
avatar
Bookwyrm627: None of my pings would be worthwhile if the field weren't so empty of clues.

Picking just one? Ehhhh. I'll actually go with you, for that push on ZFR over "Them/Us". From personal experience, Them/Us is not any sort of tell; I've used both when town (both on purpose and without thinking about it).
In reply to Scene and Lift

avatar
supplementscene: There wasn't a misrepresentation as such, more a misunderstanding of the numbers.
avatar
Bookwyrm627: I quoted the most egregious misrepresentation in my post 237.

However, there is a discrepancy here that I'm curious how you address.

avatar
supplementscene: Bookwyrm saying he isn't available on deadline day, stating he is only voting Deadbolt and the rest should come into his line or fail to get a lynch sounds very scummy
avatar
Bookwyrm627: Per your earlier statements about your understanding, how all of town needs to vote together or a lynch can't be achieved, you're putting words in my mouth that all the townies need to join me or there won't be a lynch. That is scummy.

avatar
supplementscene: You said you might not be available today and if we had needed all town to agree as was my impression, there would of been an issue with that.
avatar
Bookwyrm627: Here you state that I'm town. If I were scum, then my vote being MIA would be irrelevant.

avatar
supplementscene: But then again saying you're unavailable and deciding to vote against the likely candidate would be a scum tactic too.
avatar
Bookwyrm627: But now we're back to me using a scum tactic.

So Supplement, am I town or am I scum? Because I'm seeing you inherently acting as though you know I'm town while trying to simultaneously paint me as scum.

-----

avatar
Lifthrasil: Wat? I'm not aggressive towards Hyper this time. He isn't part of the game yet.
avatar
Bookwyrm627: I knew I should have said "super" or "ultra" instead of "hyper", then I said it anyway. It was a qualifier, not a name.

avatar
Lifthrasil: And I also didn't have the impression that I am overly aggressive otherwise. Could you please point out where I was overly aggressive? Or was that a misrep on your part?
avatar
Bookwyrm627: The biggest impression I had from your early posting was a feeling of aggression. While forceful pushing from you is unsurprising, I'm still reminded of our recent game where you were scum.

I'll cite posts 41, 50, and 80. Looks like I'm back on ZFR's side of an argument; in this case the choice of "we/they" when talking about town indicates nothing for me.

I'll also concede that looking back, it doesn't look nearly as bad as my remembered impression.

-----

Judging by the votecount, it appears that my position will continue to bug Vitek. I happen to know it is incidental, but i don't expect him to believe that.

-----

avatar
JoeSapphire: Gogdammit you bunch of ass-sucking loserbabies. The next person who double-posts is getting seriously messed up. Don't make me modkill yous!
avatar
Bookwyrm627: It's probably the theme. I mean, just look at the source material: Double Team, Double Slap, Double Kick, Double-Edge, Double Hit. Quick Attack, for those who are too fast.

-----

avatar
supplementscene: So once the Lynch happens or doesn't. How long do we wait to find out the result of night play?
avatar
Bookwyrm627: The lynch results are typically revealed as soon as the mod sees the lynch and gets to it (though sometimes they give a few hours or "twilight" discussion).

Night typically lasts 2 or 3 RL days.

avatar
supplementscene: Is it actually possible to be mod-killed in the game?
avatar
Bookwyrm627: Yes. Anyone who has already edited should be unsurprised if their next edit provokes a kill. If the mod's patience runs out with the group as a whole, it may happen even if you haven't edited before.

Mercy is typically extended for one-off offenses that are accidental, because everyone makes mistakes sometimes. Intentional edits (that aren't PRE-APPROVED by the mod) will almost certainly be greeted with a mod-kill.
Tentatively kicks Lift as I'm not even sure who the lurkers are....it probably should be one of them and I may change my mind in line with the group
Ok, a quick look at the wagons suggests a couple of things.

As ZFR was town I would imagine at least one scum was on his wagon. Possibly (probably even) two.
I'm not sure I see all three scum piling on a town lynch day 1 as that can be quite risky, but I wouldn't rule it out. The one thing in favour of this possibility is that scum choose to NK someone off the wagon (Bookwyrm) therefore not making it easier to spot scum in the wagon.

There is probably also one scum off the wagon, and that only leaves trent, Sage and flub (unless you count flub's last minute vote after lynch, in which case it's just Sage and trent).
I can't really see there being more than one scum off the wagon, as that would suggest two out of those three or all three of them are scum and killing Bookwyrm makes little sense.

So of those on the wagon who looks most scummy?
I know I'm town so that leaves scene (leaning town), Lift (leaning scum), Vitek (leaning town), SPF50 (null), mchack (unfounded suspicion), yogs (slight scum lean).
flub and Vitek both get some town points for me, I can't see scum flub being desperate to be seen on a town wagon to vote after lynch was secured, and Vitek's failure to unvote correctly looks more like a town mistake than something scum would allow to happen.
Which makes my most likely scum picks Lift, SPF, Sage, yogs and mchack (in that order).

Tackle Lift

supplementscene: Weren't we meant to get some information overnight from one of our roled players? Where is it?
Depends. A PR can only share their result by claiming their role. Which gives scum a target. So if, for example, a cop got a town-read on someone he won't tell that openly. Only a scum read justifies revealing a cop role.

About Bookwyrm as a target: it would be bad play to chose someone as a target who was openly suspecting you as scum. Often scum try to make someone else look bad by killing a townie who suspected another townie. But of course this is all fraught with WIFOM.

About next targets: I say let's go for one of the lurkers. Especially in the case of SPF the amount of invisibility is strange. It's nothing new that Sage lurks. She has managed to hide scumminess behind that in the past, so maybe she is scum. But maybe it's just RL. Not sure yet. But in the case of SPF his coasting under the radar seems like he's intentionally avoiding attention.

Other thoughts: I don't see yogs as solid town. He started out somewhat scummy/strange yesterday, but improved towards the end of the Day. That's true. But that doesn't make him town. However, he isn't a prefererred lynch target any more.

Scene: I think is town. Yes, there were some strange posts but they are overall in line with how he played as Liberal in Secret Hitler.

Flubb: always flubby, always lynchable. That he flubbs around on D1 without doing anything useful is usual. But now on D2 I hope for some more useful participation. Town flubb usually comes around at some time and starts contributing. Let's see whether he does.

adalia: jumped in for a player who wasn't willing to play. I still think the theory that deadbolt was overwhelmed with playing scum is reasonable and it wouldn't be the first time that adalia swoops in to save the day and manages to look much more towny than the person being replaced. So for now, adalia gets a tentative second place in scumminess.

trent, mchack and Vitek: nothing definite yet. trent plays like he always does and the same is true for mchack. Vitek is unreadable for me. But that's nothing new either.

For now:
tackle SPF

My general feeling is we as town have to lynch the players who had something to gain from Bookwyrm's demise. Namely Lift, Scene and Adalia. Yes I realise I have to play the martyr for this to work. I'm torn between the lurkers and the aggressor in Lift. It could also be a poster who seems ultra town, no way of knowing.
No, as Lift explained we only get info from roles if they claim and that's usually not a good idea D2.

I'm not sure why you think I have something to gain from Bookwyrm's death? I accused him of possibly being scum alongside ZFR, but that argument fell apart when ZFR flipped town anyway so it's not something I would have pursued today if he was still alive.
Lift could possibly be seen to gain as Bookwyrm was pursuing him but that often means he's town and scum killed Bookwyrm to set him up.
Of course the fact that both people who were voting Lift have now flipped town looks slightly worse for him too (reason for scum Lift not to kill Bookwyrm) but both of these arguments are subject to WIFOM and really tell us little about whether Lift is scum or not.

Actually appearing ultra town is not always enough. Similar to the Hitler problem in Secret Hitler (whereas after three fascist policies you don't want to pick Hitler as chancellor so Hitler plays super town, therefore anyone playing super town is suspicious) scum who appear too townie would be expected to be NK'd by the rest of the town, when they are not it looks suspicious.
So actually scum tend to walk the line, being townie enough to not get lynched but not so townie they would be expected to be the NK.

I know I suspect Lift and I'm voting him, but I could probably get behind an SPF or Sage push. SPF fooled me hard last game and has shown ability to cope under pressure when scum whereas Sage's lurkiness is good cover for scum.
Plus if SPF were to be lynched and flip scum that would probably clear Lift (assuming he doesn't jump off the wagon) as I can't see a buddy starting a wagon unnecessarily like that.

trentonlf: ...............
My question for everyone again is who is your pick for scum and why?
SirPrimalform is top of my list.

His last two posts seemed okay with the ZFR lynch. I don't disagree with ZFR's lynch on the LAL principle, however I'm not hurrahing it.
Just noticed some slight support going on between yogs and flub D1... probably too obvious for them to be buddies, but maybe not.

If yogs were to get lynched and flip scum I'd certainly re-evaluate my flub read.

Didn't see too much wrong from SPF on a reread, but nothing particularly townie either.
