Yo Mod! Do we have subs? I mean, they aren't cookies, but you know...

yogsloth: Yeah, I mean, this is horrible. Slaughter the you-know. But this is also why we have subs.

We do have subs, right?

ofc if he is mafia I'm going to look like a right git
What are subs?

It does seem like he doesn't care town or mafia

supplementscene: You realise if 7 of us don't vote the sameway we get no lynch? Unless you can sway public opinion to Deadbolt you should vote for Yogs or ZFR.......if you actually want town to succeed ofcourse ;)
Why limit the voting to these two? We still have plenty of time. So what, in your opinion, speaks against voting deadbolt?

As Yogs pointed out this might be a newbie who decided that he doesn't want to play Mafia after all and tries to get lynched to get out of the game. But why? If he wants out, he could just ask for a sub. So for me it's most likely a scum player who doesn't know how to play as scum and is frustrated over that. Or a Jester ... but I refuse to believe that there is a Jester in the game. That is a bad role which is no fun to play with at all.

supplementscene: What are subs?
Substitutions or replacements. Players ready to jump in should someone want to drop out. According to the sign-up thread we currently have gogtrial and hunter ligned up as subs.

ZFR: ...or stellar play by a Jester ...

Didn't I read somewhere, that whoever suggested "Jester" first should be policy lynched? I feel like this came up somewhere in gog forum mafia history but I can't quite put my finger on it.

Anyway this needn't even be the case, if only this were some kind of semi open setup and the mod would have given out some kind of "list" of all the roles that could be at play this game... *sigh*

You should ask the moderator for a substitute.

Vitek: Very nice fearmongering and also lovely attempt to limit lynch options to 2 players.
Also this. I agree with Vitek's assessment.
OK, a new game rule for town. We start to agree on a lynch target 2-3 days before. Otherwise Mafia influence us at the last moment.

Deadbolt is definitely the Andrew Golota of this game. I don't know if that's a tell or not, he seems to just not give an F. Whichever team he's playing for, he isn't very good.

I'm not against voting Deadbolt if the majority agree on it. But 1 poster shouldn't influence the majority decision. The majority should decide and the rest should then come into line.

Bookwyrm saying he isn't available on deadline day, stating he is only voting Deadbolt and the rest should come into his line or fail to get a lynch sounds very scummy

And no we don't have plenty of time, Bookwyrm is deciding tonight and the deadline is tomorrow. Everyone else seems to MIA. This is very much panic time for town.

I only just noticed this post critiqueing my post without quoting me. Which is bad form in a game that demands honesty.

Town work on likelyhood of events. Up until deadbolt had looked bad today there were only 2 slightly (not majorly) suspicious characters. Now there's 3. Town have to go with likelyhood of guilt.

And yes Town should be scared not to make sure we have 7 people voting for 1 person. We lose otherwise

OK, if you put it like that, it is a valid concern and I can kind of understand your reaction to Bookwyrm. And trying to reach a consensus before the last hours before the deadline is a noble goal, but doesn't work. That's an unfortunate experience value. Most activity around here happens in the 24 hours before the deadline. So I expect a lot of discussion and quite some voting to happen tomorrow. So no, it's not yet time to panic. But it is time to be alert and present as much as possible.

You are right that we shouldn't be complacent and let things slip until the last hour. In the previous game town screwed up and D1 ended in a no-lynch. It's also right that scum can use the time pressure to their advantage - for example by limiting the apparent number of possible choices. And by scaring town into rash decisions. So screaming 'paaanic! Vote now for X or Y or we'll lose!' helps scum more than it helps town.

Have you actually decided you don't want to play or are you just feeling put upon by all the negative attention?
My earlier post that appears edited is due to me posting again within 10 minutes and GOG merging the posts, apologies to Joe and everyone

I disagree about it not being a panic situation. Ultimately if we have 1 town posted who doesn't vote towards our concensus, then Mafia can block our lynch. Assuming everyone is going to drop in line in the last 24 hours is a huge risk for town. Especially if some Town people are simply innactive.

True. It would be nicer if all were active and we find a consensus without time pressure. But where do you take that 'if we have 1 town who doesn't vote towards consensus, Mafia can block our lynch' idea from? Usually about a quarter of the players are scum. Which would mean 9 town, 3 scum in this game. If you take 1 townie out, we still have 8 and we need 7 to lynch. Or do you just happen know that the scum faction is especially large in this game and your calculation comes from that?

Uhm, how are you coming across these numbers? The only way your numbers make sense is if you are coming from a position of knowledge that only scum would have, so please enlighten us as to why you shouldn't be the lynch today.
Joe posted in OP this game has 3 scum 9 town
