Pheace: What email?
The email, you know?
Email in question. Let me find the changed sections in the two policies.

Edit: 13.3 in GOG User Agreement and 9.3 in GOG Privacy Policy.

So don't use GOG Connect. The changes are quite clear that they only apply to use of GOG Connect.
I read the changes, but didn't find anything out of the ordinary.
Can anyone explain me the possibly inconvenience caused by accepting Steam rules regarding their API access, please?

Yes, but that is becoming a bit of a catch all isn't it. If you don't like it then don't use <xyz> part of GOG. I tend to agree with Beja in

Breja: ...snip
There is a lot of slippage, for good or bad going on here. Galaxy, InDev etc. I am not against expansion, but it brings with it issues, and questions, like any change. Galaxy is simply put a bit a naff at the moment, its beta or something, but virtually every post on here is problems with it or problems caused by people who know nothing other than clientwares. Is this a problem, not as such, but it diminishes the benefit of a forum where important topics such as where is my Wang, and why is TinyE talking about arse again, with "mash button game no workz" posts. (Yes, vastly simplifyng so sue me (or jessica or alison - wonder if anyone will know that pencil case?)).

So I don't use Galaxy, I don't use Connect, I don't buy InDev, what next? There is validity on both sides of any argument. No, I am not going to try to solve it here as have had a few sherbets and now need some more after typing that.

siddham: Origin?
you gotta to be kidding
your not
oh dear
sorry
Origin is more comfortable for me than Steam, actually. I gotta say that in many ways I'm happier with Origin than with Steam... sounds weird to say this but I'm considering On The House, refunds (long before Steam did), the client isn't a clunky p.o.s. that doesn't really interfere with your game's performance, giving the option to redeem an EA game on their client if you had it on Steam (before CDPR did with the Witchers, actually)... But le EA boogeymen meme is stronger I guess?

I'm a bit too old to worry too much about tinfoily stuff, because ownership is one thing, but hey, it's very likely that gog is still spying on you. I mean, a *true* DRM free service shouldn't force you to create an account to download a game.
Origin is just a store
Steam is so much more than a store
Maybe you just never investigated what Steam has to offer as a community platform etc

CARRiON.FLOWERS: Scared of Valve? I just gave them $50.
So, what you're saying is... they mugged you?

What, you mean the forums or the social things? Why would you want to use that? Are you there for the games or for something that's one step away from Facebook?

Nah, gettin' ready for a new release.
Yeah, it's really scary and terrifying when GOG just goes ahead and gives us new rights, abilities and possibilities like that without first telling us how terrible and apocalyptic such a move would be.

Indeed why would people want to participate in forums and such things
like this forum for instance
I mean why?
obviously you would never lower yourself to participate in a form

Breja: Especially when something is, at least to an extant, a joint venture with Steam.
I'm pretty sure it's not a joint venture tho - anyone can use Steam's online API and all that API will do is give GOG list of your Steam games. GOG then just gives you a bunch of free games on account of that. I guess public use of Steam API requires following some guidelines thus change in agreement, but that would be pretty much it.
