Hi guys, I'm not sure whether this is the correct place to be posting this however I am curious whether my Witcher 3 game files are being imported via the GOG launcher correctly.

I've just recently come back to the game and I am able to manually launch it without any issues however launching via the GOG installer requires me to import the game files for whatever reason. When launching manually it says it's running version 1.06. The launcher says it's "Checking local files" from the directory I sent it to however upon completion it starts downloading game files and currently says it's downloaded about 100MB/35GB (suggesting it is downloading the entire game again - even though the bulk of it is already installed).

So my question is whether the launcher is indeed downloading the entire game again or rather downloading the missing patches and any additional DLCs (from version 1.06 > 1.11) but is simply not accounting for the already installed files in the number.

It might be... I assume you mean Galaxy? Check the temp folder, default being: C:\Program Files (x86)\GalaxyClient\Games\!Downloads\temp. Right click and check the size of what it is downloading and see if it says 35GB. You might have to check it more than once, as it might increase as it continues downloading/installing. I know a few patches back one of the updates was like 15 GB in Galaxy.

Galaxy currently has a bug when a game is imported were it shows the entire game is being downloaded when it is not. Only way to tell is checking the temp folder and checking the size of the download. So it might only grab the patches but it might not.

Thanks for the reply - yeah sorry I do mean Galaxy.

I'm not able to find a 'temp' folder however I do have a folder in a similar directory called "the_witcher_3_wild_hunt" although the files within it were downloaded much earlier this year and only amount to 470MB and currently Galaxy has downloaded about 700MB.

The files that were imported are on a seperate hard drive from where Galaxy is installed (on my SSD) if that changes anything?

If you start Galaxy and click the little gear icon at the bottom the client (this is your settings), you can see at the bottom where your temp folder is located. Click the check box to manually handle it (so it's not greyed out). This is the folder were Galaxy stores patches and game downloads before it moves them your your install location after downloading.

Ahh alright. It looks like it's downloading ~16GB so I assume it's just downloading the patches. Thanks for the help.

Most likely, just keep a check on it. The import displaying the wrong game download size is a known issue. Hopefully it will be fixed soon. :)
