Klumpen0815: What DRM? My retail version doesn't have any DRM, no disc checks and I can copy the installer and run it from wherever I like.

Is there a version with DRM?

tfishell: Depends if you consider the Steam client DRM or not.
Actually the game is available drm-free from the developers website here: http://braid-game.com/

The game is DRM-Free on Humble, Desura and GamersGate.

Also which is interesting is that its available for Linux, Windows and Mac.
It's not like the Braid guy came to GOG on bended knees and got thrown out on his face. It sounds like they both, Blow and GOG, kind of thought that the game wouldn't sell well enough here to justify the work both of them would have to do to bring it. They are, however, both interested in bringing his newest game here, presumably as a day 1 release.

When a game creator explicitly says that releasing a game on GOG was never a big priority for him, and the game doesn't end up getting released, spinning that as "GOG rejects popular game! SERIOUSLY?" is pretty disingenuous.

tfishell: Please don't vote up games unless you would buy them. I've said it a few times before, but think I should mention it again: Turnipslayerr has said before GOG staff do actually make use of the wishlist to help gauge the level of interest and how well a game could sell. You're absolutely right votes are not guaranteed sales, but it is one mechanism to help get interest across to the GOG staff and big publishers.

Also, different people want different things here. The "you" refers to several hundred or more active forumites.

fake sig: help bring publishers
Yeah, I've had that thought myself, to be honest. If I wouldn't buy it, I shouldn't vote for it, etc. Then my sense of trying to be helpful for guys like you and Barry, et al, who do so much extra work around here in an unpaid capacity, sort of overrides logic.

To be honest, though, I would figure that GOG staff would be able to weigh actual sales against the wishlist and judge an actual median towards it, as I can't be the only guy that votes stuff up that I wouldn't buy, could I?
Keep voting:

I didn't. The title is: "GOG isn't interested in selling Braid!? SERIOUSLY!?" What's inaccurate about that?

Given its age and inclusion in bundles I cannot see Braid being a big seller on GOG so I am not surprised they are more interested in focusing on newer indie games that are of more interest to buyers today.
But there are plenty of older indie games that have been a part of bundles and heavily discounted in numerous Steam sales that sold just fine here. The assumption that everyone that would want the game already has it is inaccurate, not to mention the sales from people that would buy it again just to have it on their game shelves.

Yes in both cases.

Basically I think they just dismiss most games that won't give them enough profit which older releases (1-2 years) probably don't but that does alienate part of the customer base and they are actually loosing sales cause of that. The only increase in sales they actually generate is when they make sales like Insomnia, Battle of the games and such. Their biggest problem remains that they aren't as of yet able to bring any AAA titles here and also they basically don't have day one releases. AAA titles afterall generate most sales and are most wished for if you check the voting list and indies just don't generate enough cash flow in most cases to make it worth for them. They mostly just release them to cover the holes between bigger games releases which are not as numerous here.

Well-respected game from a well-respected guy, success story, worth replaying, etc. It's not like the game sold 100M. A lot of people don't have or don't know about it.

Is it like a cryptic folder tied to the downloader for GG? I hate that about them.

Well, all DRM-Free games on GamersGate work like that.

To be honest, I would not be surprised if it was released as an old game at some point, but I do not blame them for giving the indie spot to newer titles.

Look at Blocks that Matter, it's a great game to have here. Maybe it will interest you at some point, maybe for only 2$, but many people will get to play a quality title down the line. No one is asking for a bunch of random indie crap. Some people move from consoles to PC all the time and they'll want these games, for the first time or not.
