This kind of negative response is needed on gog as much as the regional pricing outcry has shown and since now we know how gog chooses the games for release and its obvious the systems is extremely flaved these kind of threads are needed and I applaude all the other thread masters who decided to make these kinds of thread after I made my thread. Not everything is perfect on gog and we need to make them notice problems somehow that's what the forums are for.

I agree 100%. Besides, some of the explainations as "gog wasn't interested", and some where "gog couldn't come to an agreement." I understand gog not wanting more RTS because they have TONS of RTS for sale, RTS may be a lower seller than other game types, who knows. With certain other games, I've heard the indi developer wanted the base-pricee of the game to be too high. Gog may think that it's priced too high to sell. Maybe the developer wants gog to take a lower cut of the sales.... Who knows. I don't think GOG is going to refuse to make money, unless there is a really good reason for not taking a game on. This amount of annoyance and anger might make more sense if they stopped having sales on their games, or introduced DRM... but this is just people getting annoyed that X game isn't on GOG for an unknown reason.

And basically I don't think that all the developers lie about being outright rejected by gog. There is a visible pattern already.

After reading the message exchange, I find it interesting that folks here put the blame on GOG without any questions.

I didn't know of any hype around Braid.
I bought it because it was a DRM free retail copy for 5€ on Amazon and there wasn't much choice for DRM free stuff.
Back then I did not know about bundles, GoG, etc... and wasn't into digital distribution at all.
After finishing it I bought it again to gift it to someone.
If there was a hype about this game it deserved it imho and maybe this hype is what made it so bad to you guys.

Again I am happy to have been in the valley of the clueless because I was very pleasantly surprised because of it.
The "hype" if there has been one didn't reach me at all.

Remember when like six dozen people lost their minds like their families were being hauled off to the penal colony of Rurapente when GOG said they'd like to try regional pricing on some games? This is just a run by two of the attention-seekers on the forum; hyperbolic reaction and groupthink shouldn't really come across as a surprise.

Do you want GOG to be like Steam and just totally open for any game to be sold here? if so I think the quality of customer support will be lost forever.

With that kind of sentiment I am surprised that any older indie games are showing up here, especially ones that have been bundled to hell and back.

I think this will always happen with a year or longer released games since not all gog users use just gog but also Steam and other platforms - it is to be expected.

GOG is rejecting games left, right and center and IMHO they are not in a position to do so, their catalog is a lot smaller than Steam and they are struggling to expand it by signing certain key publishers. Beggars can't be choosers. How many Activision games have they rejected? How many EA games? Ubisoft?

No wonder these wells are drying up. I am sure GOG being so quick to reject games has scared developers and publishers from signing up in the first place.

I don't think it matters if GOG are late to the party as long as the price is right. I've done one Humble Bundle myself (the 2K, and I kind of regret it) and I mostly avoid Steam, so I'm happy for the occasional new old indie, although I am quite price sensitive because of the bundles and Steam sales.

It's easy to reject games that you're not convinced by, extremely easy to reject if you're not sure and are miles apart from the dev/publisher on agreeing price. There is little to no skill in predicting something won't be a hit. It is however extremely hard to pick the winners, something that all businesses struggle with, nobody can do it consistently. The only reason other stores have some of the winning games when GOG don't is because those other stores take almost everything, for every notable game there are hundreds of also rans.

I want GOG to get better at this and it does seem like they are working toward getting more of the better new indie titles, so for now I'm not willing complain about the rejected games we've had threads about in the last few days.

Braid doesn't live up to 1/10th of it's hype.Then again it still displays more quality in it's first minute then something like Slender the arrival(get it right here on GoG folks! Act now while copies last!)
