Barry_Woodward: Braid was first included in the Humble Indie Bundle 2 which only sold 232,855 copies.
It was also included in the HIB 3 which sold 372,399 copies and the HIB 5 which sold 599,004 copies. That's 1.2 million copies of a niche game, plus the 450,000 it actually sold through conventional channels.

Barry, I think we all appreciate the work you put into raising awareness for certain games and chasing up rights, but randomly posting interviews with Jonathan Blow to try and keep focus on the thread isn't really going to make much of a difference. The fact that an arthouse game like Braid got the sales it did is incredible enough, but there isn't much more to be squeezed out of it, and really there is little point in chasing up the rights to a game that quite simply will not sell.

1. Not every sale of those Humble Indie Bundles included Braid, because of the above the average factor.
2. A sizable percentage of those sales were returning customers who already owned Braid.
3. Not everyone that bought the bundles was even necessarily interested in playing Braid.

Jonathan Blow: Indie Prototyping
Post edited August 16, 2014 by Barry_Woodward
I guess trying to please its community as much as possible puts GOG between a rock and a hard place. On one side there are those who'd complain about indie classics being rejected or neglected, but on the other side, and possibly even more vocal, there are those who complain about too many indies overshadowing 'rare' oldie releases or about indie classics arriving here much too late when hardly anyone's still interested in them. Braid should definitely be available in GOG's indie section, but I can already see the complaints drowning out the few happy voices in the releae thread, and I doubt the sales figures would be very high at this point. :/

Braid -870 votes

Wow. I just realised I own most of the games on that list. :) Would buy again on GOG.
