You cannot say GOG is stuck in a rut without first assuming at some point they were not?? Hehehehe

kai2: I feel GOG is doing a pretty good job at releasing games. Yes, there are the minor issues (often out of GOG's hands), a general lack of day 1 releases (again, not GOG's fault), and some second-guessing of GOG's "rejections," but it still feels like they're working hard to acquire and release games.
I totally agree. GOG has done amazing things for the world of DRM-Free gaming. I'm just tired of the sci-fi and fantasy related titles that are being pumped out lately. I'm sure someone's enjoying them, but I just wish we would get more classics.andysheets1975

Linko64: Not sure how they feel about it, but i get the feeling they don't even know what they are releasing these days. The marketing stuff is so flat that it gives next to no info or reason to be excited.
You'd think if you're service is aimed at PC gamers, especially those of an older age range, there would be more focus on connecting with them beyond news letter spam.
It's cool they got Bound by Flame though, shame they didn't really express any excitement
As for classics, they're not easy to get. Patience is probably the best approach on that front.
This is something that has crossed my mind a couple of times. For a curated store, their write-ups on releases are remarkably bland. Like, why is a particular game worthy of being released on GOG? What makes it special compared to so many others? You'd think if you're service is aimed at PC gamers, especially those of an older age range, there would be more focus on connecting with them beyond news letter spam.

Funny but even the books that I enjoy reading, are either supernatural thrillers or science/fantasy fiction.

Did you read my reply? There are lots of games that don't fall into your two categories. Perhaps have a look at the list of recently released games before you complain about it? Now, I would all be for the release of more classics. Most of the new releases are relatively new games. But that wasn't what you complained about. The way you worded your complaint, it is just plain wrong.

I have a theory that space games are more prolific because of the lower production costs, space after all is mostly nothingness so all you need are nice skyboxes and the only things that need modelling/texturing are the ships and asteroids.

Randalator: Classics like Blade Runner, Diablo 2, Black & White, Dune or Freelancer? They would be a welcome change from all the sci-fi and fantasy related stuff GOG has been pumping out lately... scientiae

Even if this was true and an actual trend with GOG, which I don't really buy into, I wouldn't see anything wrong with it. After all, dark dungeon crawler/fantasy games are hugely popular, even or particularly with the oldschool crowd. And sci-fi/space games are a niche that hasn't been catered to all that much for many years. In the end though, it's just a matter of preference. I could just as well make threads in which I complain about the strategy and sim game releases that don't interest me personally etc.
I for one thought the recent GOG releases were quite interesting and varied, but YMMV.
