By now most of you are aware of the whole brouhaha over Valve's sudden decision to more aggressively censor games it deems unsuitable for its audience. With an uncertain future on Steam, erotic games publishers like MangaGamer and JAST are looking for a service that provides more stability. And GOG can provide just that service to them. Enter GOG After Dark.

Imagine the growth this move will cause. The addition of titles from a whole new category of gaming will draw people for more than just the expanded catalogue, because GOG will also score a major philosophical victory. Adult gamers will appreciate being able to choose for themselves what kinds of entertainment they wish to enjoy, instead of Big Brother Valve deciding what everyone's allowed to see.

Now, some might say that PayPal will try to stop it. But that's actually easy to solve. Games available on the adult section of GOG can't be directly purchased with PayPal. However, they can still be bought with wallet funds, which can be filled with PayPal. This is not unlike Patreon's method for keeping PayPal as an option—Patreon charges a lump sum for every creator you support, and if some of that goes to an adult content creator, that's not the same thing as paying them directly. In fact, this will be a major advantage GOG will have over sites that sell only adult games.

Even if you personally wouldn't use the service, a choice you're free to make, look at the bigger picture. This is the single biggest opportunity GOG has ever had to seize a significant portion of Steam's user base. The potential unlocked in grabbing an entire section of the market cannot be overstated. Not only will the move itself bring new business, but imagine the headlines GOG will grab on all the gaming news sites. The exposure that will come with it will be bigger than what any PR campaign could bring.

Or GOG could let this decisive shot at growth pass them by. It's true they've been stubborn in the past. But let's be willing to believe they have more vision than that.

The perfectly wrong tagline... lol...
We have your games STD.... errr DRM Free?

I got nothing re puns ><
I'd love for GOG to do this. GOG After Dark is a pretty catchy name as well.

I was just discussing this with a mate, that we need somewhere else who isn't going to fold to a group of people that want to get games removed just because they have no intrest with that game and don't want to see it on their store front.

I doubt that. Both MangaGamer and JAST USA have their own stores and many of their games are not available at Steam.
People can just buy their "erotic" games directly from those stores:

I'm sorry, but was I insulted? :P

It's so hard to tell these days.
And don't forget your free uncensored patches only available with GOG Galaxy :D

I love birds and donkeys. And DRM-free.

I'm all for this idea.

I'm not personally a fan of games made around sexual themes myself but I'm heavily against corporate censorship.

I'm absolutely willing (and most likely) to migrate my business from Steam to GoG as long as GoG keeps non-censored games.

I have over 300 games on my Steam library and I'm pretty mad about their decision to force developers to change their products, their art if you may, to suit their own needs. That's not a business model I wish to support.

Uncensored games, no matter what the topic, would be a major selling point. It would certainly mean that I'd shop here instead.

Shame that it isn't happening.
Wishlist entry? I´m so lazy at the moment.
This will never happen.
