I'm subscribed to the following mails:

Promotions and hot deals:
Sent once a week on Fridays, or whenever we're launching a bigger, themed promotion.

Releases and Announcements:
Sent on occasion, when we have something really big to announce.

Apparently this now means there's some "great" promotion every single day in a week! How do I stop getting mail every day and get only mail about biggest sales that are actually interesting like wintersale or should I unsubscribe entirely? I love GOG, but this is more than I signed up for. Thanks.

I think everyone finds what works best for them, but I for one am not subscribed to any GOG newsletter, get no emails whatsoever, but rather I drop in daily on the site to see if there are any deals/sales I'm interested in. And that works superbly for me.

I used to drop in every now and then too and might go back to just doing that again. It just means I might miss some of the good sales.

I'm wondering if even GOG staff is aware that they are breaking their own mail send rate policy stated in the email subscribtion settings.

GOG now gives away free games through mail. After people nagged about them giving away free games through Galaxy, they now give free games through mail, instead. Not few days ago, i think i redeemed a movie that gog mail notified me being free for a short time.

It's not so much the frequency of their mails, but it's the absurd (lack of) quality of their spam.
Those emails have emojis in the subject line, and most of the content is linked pictures.

If GOG is trying to annoy their customers with spam, they certainly are on the right track! If they actually sent mail which contains only text, and maybe a link to some promotion, I wouldn't mind it at all.

But those mails that GOG is sending are just idiotic. And I can't even view them properly. My online reader won't show pictures, unless I specifically turn them on. My offline mail software can't show any emojis. So I never get to see those mails as GOG has intended them to be, which is probably a good thing actually, because I don't want to see all that visual spam.

Surprisingly enough, Steam does it much better. The subject line tells the name of the game, and whether it has been released or discounted or what the content of the mail is, so there's no need to even read the actual mail to get the information.

To give an example here.
GOG: "Items on your wishlist are now discounted!"
Steam: "Game X and 4 others on your wishlist are discounted."

That's almost no real information vs. very much information delivered on the subject line.

Apparently, you don't SHARE THEIR LOVE FOR GAMES enough!

You need to subscribe to their newsletter for news, releases, and exclusive discounts even harder. Only then will you have SHARED THEIR LOVE FOR GAMES sufficiently!

This. The quality of these daily campaign mails is poor and the titles look similar to any mail in the spam folder.

I only get Wishlist notices. Having heard the quality of their other mails, I can't say I regret not subscribing.

Deleting promotions and whatnot from my two main e-mail accounts seems like a ritual now, a daily chore, like washing teeth, that I don't mind really.

I get every promotional email GOG sends, except the wishlist ones, because my wishlist is now empty. But I don't really bother to change my settings for the other mails, so it will stay as is for the foreseeable future.

Yeah, I recommend you to deactivate the "Wishlist alert", everytime a sale start I recived a notification (three times a week) because I have a toon of games wishlisted, that will reduce the number of notifications exponentially!!!

It's the end of 2022 and it's still kinda of a problem that sometimes gets out of hands.
For example, it's rare but I have received 4 emails in a single day about different lists of sales.

The average number of daily email about promotion from GoG is above 1.3, meaning that, for 2 to 4 days in a week, we get at least 2 emails in a single day.

They should work on the system to make it filters and condense all the daily emails into something like 2 emails per week sent on precise days of the week like 1 on Monday and 1 of Friday.

Currently, the system is made so that an email is automatically sent whenever the GoG sale crew or a publisher starts a sale, regardless of how many was already sent during the day. If 2 GoG Sale crew start a sale, it send 2 emails.

Worse: They litter it with emoji in the subject. Subjects should be plaintext only. Any time I see emoji in an email subject, I unsubscribe from the source. I keep unsubscribing every time I'm put back on for a giveaway, once they get problematic.

Of course, there are places worse that never even last a day. Non-profit/charities are often the worse for that. One particular one has emailed me 12 times this week.
