I tried opening a ticket in life's support system to request a refund, but never got a reply. At this point I'm pretty sure life is a scam. Won't make the same mistake twice though, I've learned my lesson now :P.

I've checked out its alternative, death, but it has 0 buyer reviews, though some people that haven't had any experience with it yet have posted some rants, so it's kind of risky to do my purchases there anyway. I'll probably wait until my current subscription of life expires, then switch to death. I've heard a lot of people are doing the same.

The patch was released nearly 2 month's ago and not just me but many other people trying to ask GOG when we might and similar questions, it's ok, but the real problem with GOG it's just they don't give a shit to answer. As I mentioned before I have contacted them month ago several times until I had no more without any answer to my questions I demanded a refund but again they not even then answer anything in multiple emails. So I have checked my email and what a surprised someone from customer support finally replied at least and I'm sure because of this forum topic. Shame on you GOG

LexRust: Hey, just to clarify, your support requests were actually replied to previously. The one from December was replied to by me personally. Unfortunately however, due to the fact email you provided in the ticket was not valid, our replies did not reach you.
After you posting on the forum, we managed to connect your account to your tickets with incorrect email and reply.
Since it happened multiple times, we would recommend to check if your autofill for email fields saved an incorrect email.

Zrevnur: Not sure what you mean with the "100%" sentence. But evidence that GOG has the position of strength is that they (supposedly) have a 30% share of sales and the other side gets 70%. This is the most important part (probably) of such deals and its dictated by GOG. So yes - I think GOG does have the "stronger" position.
(And I said nothing about easy and dont know why you would assume sth about me thinking it is a certain level of easy.)
This makes zero sense as a counterargument and has nothing to do with anything.

Maybe try to be more clear as to which part/s you are responding?

Part of my response was a counterargument to your claim "not negotiate from a place of strength really". And its quite obvious that the median publisher is more dependent on GOG than the other way round. So I dont agree with that claim. GOG has the stronger position vs the median publisher.

A (not so) long time ago in a galaxy (not so) far, far away, game versions were listed on game pages; that was the era when oldies/classics prevailed and the update/patch status was a selling point.

Life and death are a package deal, so death is just part of the scam. Something to fool us into thinking life has meaning, but I'm not buying it! ;p

Not sure why GameRager's posts are getting low-rated in this thread, nothing they have said is inflammatory or trolling.
Yes, GOG isn't perfect, however GOG does list OS system compatibility for each game on their storefront and offers way way more post-purchase support than Valve/Steam does.

Yes, GOG isn't perfect, however GOG does list OS system compatibility for each game on their storefront and offers way way more post-purchase support than Valve/Steam does.

So I open a digital store, which captures less than 1% of the market, and I have a stronger position than the publisher because of the revenue split? Does that make any sense to you? That's not how it works.

When GOG makes special requests or demands on a publisher, it is their share of the overall PC market revenue that is their bargaining chip, not individual revenue share per sale. Their overall market share is much, much lower than Steam's, hence they are in a weaker position to dictate terms. You want them to bully publishers and indies into demanding contracts, and I'm saying it's not that simple.
