Erich_Zann: What pre-2000 games do Take-Two & Microsoft own anyway ? I'm not up to date with who owns what.
avatar
Leroux: I can't think of that many either, apart from the first Grand Theft Auto (Take Two) and Age of Empires (Microsoft). But then again, he only said "classics" and that's open to interpretation and does not explicitly mean pre-2000 games. And I still don't believe it's Disney with the LucasArts and Star Wars stuff.
Actually, a cursory glance here tells me there are actually quite a few Take Two games I'd be interested in : only from the first page I count Callahan's Crosstime Saloon, Bureau 13, Hell, Ripper, Dark Colony and Lula.

Erich_Zann: Just saying : I would be buying these from GOG, am probably not the only one, and I know where to find them on the high seas anyway.
If GOG doesn't need the cash, that's fine by me. More whiskey in the cupboard, more books on the shelf.

JudasIscariot: We know that but we can't just snap our fingers and have these games here :) We haven't given up on getting as many classic games as possible but it takes time :)
No worries, you just happen to be monitoring one of the only three forums I visit on the Internet, and none of the other two has any pull with publishers. So you get the nagging.

Interested in, okay. But would you be jumping up and down out of joy and happiness if they came to GOG? ;)

Their newer games would probably create more buzz. Surprisingly, Bioshock was DRM-free in the Humble Bundle, so that's a first indication that they could have become more open for distributors like GOG, but apart from that, most of their games are pretty much Steam exclusives on PC, from what I've seen.

Which one specifically? Lula? ;)

Personally speaking it would have to be Callahan's Crosstime Saloon as I never got to play it back in the day :)

Callahan's Crosstime Saloon, definitely as it's a doggone masterpiece. Instant purchase would it come to GOG, if only as a token of support as I own this boxed.
Hell & Bureau 13 I would buy for the customary 5.99$ as well, they are interesting games and remnants of days sadly gone by.
Ripper & Dark Colony might be more "wishlist-wait-for-a-sale" stuff.
Lula would be worth the couple bucks for remembrance of high school shits&giggles. In a bundle with Biing! maybe ? :-D

Of course their newer games would generate more sales, as they're more shiny, and people like shiny stuff.
But as I don't give a fuck about shiny, I keep hoping for actual interesting-to-me releases on here...

This, because I missed out on it too.
Two other things:

* Early Access: I'm pretty skeptical and probably won't participate, but it could be interesting. I doubt there will be a positive reaction, though.

* "Over 40 developers currently have the GOG Galaxy SDK. ... Galaxy-powered games are coming this year." Hopefully this leads to Torchlight 2 and other highly-desired, previously-Steamworks-multiplayer-only games coming.

GOG.com will soon be getting a French-language version of the site, if my understanding of the article is correct.
Awesome news !

Thanks SCPM !

This news is really brief, but here goes the translation (of the interesting bits) :

"...The GOG digital store is going to launch a french version, the first one in another language than english. Till now, France was in the top five country in generated revenue, and the goal is to make it jump on the podium. All french-speaking countries are concerned, with 280 games availiable for launch..."

Cool, cool, cool ! I know that was a problem for some friends I'm desesperately trying to convert :)

I'm counting 255 games in french on the store right now. I suppose that means 25 more games will gain a french version when it will launch in french... I sure hope for some classics :)

Pretty cool actually, GOG in different languages should really expand business to more users. Surprised it took them this long to do.
Spanish could also a good bet for them, it has about that many games too. And of course German.

Cool beans. I'll have no use for it personally but growth will hopefully lead to pubs bringing more highly-desired games. :)
