So I officially start my first teaching gig this coming Monday and I was wondering if anyone has any tips or stories they'd like to share. Otherwise, feel free to share your anecdotes or memories regarding your time as a student in secondary school or in college!

Anyways, I guess this can serve as an all purpose teacher's thread.

when i was in first school a boy thrown a piece of bread in me! so i take the bread and i try to throw back but i missed and the bread ricochet from desk to desk like a flat rock on water until it hit the religion teacher! he didn't get angry but that was a moment in my life (there were others too) when i understood that revenge is not for just about everybody. and numerology says that people born on 18th day of any month, if they try revenge it gets back at them! that's so.. unfair! :(

Neat! What grade levels are you teaching? Generally you should be pleasant but strict with your students no matter the age. It also helps to get to know at least a few other teachers as that can help you feel more at ease.
I was stressed out of my mind the first time I had to give a lecture to some first years. I was really surprised to find that how quickly you can get used to it though. The 2nd lecture was also stressful, but far less than the first. Come the third and fourth lecture it started to feel like I had been doing it for years. Stress almost completely gone. So there is that to look forward to :)

I don't really have any tips other than to make sure you are very well prepared, especially if it's the first time you present the material. Oh yes,and try to remember never to speak while facing away from the class (if you have one). Depending on the size of the classroom it can then suddenly become very hard to make out what you're saying for students in the back.

What are you teaching if I may ask?
Just be careful when it comes to bullying.

There are two important things to remember:
1. Bullying should not be tolerated.
2. *Never* punish the victim for being bullied. (Note that it can sometimes be hard to tell who the victim is, so be careful.)
3. Do not bully your students yourself, either.

(Yes, I lied; there is a third point to remember.)

Bullying, in my experience, tends to be more of a problem in grade school than in college, but assuming it doesn't happen in college would not be a safe assumption.

some years ago i saw on TV a female teacher from romania who fucked her pupil. he was from highschool and when the teacher wanted to break up with him he went kamikaze with the ground from teacher's window! i don't know what happened with that teacher but police was involved. does this happen in other country too?
I'm a teacher in training, taught my first few high school classes this year (the students in my classes were about 16 years old). I think it's something you get used to pretty quickly. Just remember to always seem confident, even if you don't actually feel that way. Don't actually be angry. It's okay to fake being angry, but don't actually let your emotions get out of control. And most of all, take action as soon as unwanted behavior occurs. It's easy to correct one or two students, not so easy to get a hold on 30 of them if they're all doing something else.

Don't hesitate to say that you don't know the answer to a question if you don't. It's better to say that you don't know and will look into it and reply than to give them erroneous information.
Not to mention that it can also be a very good way to start a discussion, assuming it is on a subject you are willing to teach of course. The "I am not sure. What do you think happens in that case?" can be a very good opener for discussion, but it can also lead to a lot of slacking if overused.

It does also depend on the subject you are teaching, since some subjects can have such discussions easier than others.

Congrats on your first babysitting job.
Remember you do not actually have to teach them anything.

In fact having any reasonable ideology they should be responsible and learn anything
is complete nonsense and sexist/racist.

Just like how common core tells teachers they should not teach children about history
such as civil war or revolution. Cause that stuff is "out dated" and not needed.

Majority of anything you teach them will be "not needed" and they will ignore.

You are glorified babysitter and your job is to ensure they listen to authority, do as they are told,
and stop thinking for themselves.

Considering the United States education system was taken from the one Hitler used...
That is the whole purpose of it.

How else can you have society of brainless zombies?
Willing to do as the liberal media wants?

O yes don't forget to tell the child if they are white how they evil they are for owning slaves.
