Starmaker: I'm not. I have a degree in it (with high honors even -- thus "starmaker"), and my job consists of editing a website, "hacking" docx protection, and installing pirated MS Office on coworkers' personal PCs.
I suppose that demand for such engineers is indeed very limited, yet how did you get into that position?

??? I was seriously ill and unemployed and I posted a "looking for work" private ad. A law firm's HR department did a paid search, found my ad, called me and asked whether I could admin an Ubuntu server. I said I had an Ubuntu laptop at home and they offered me piles of cash and virgin sacrifices, adjusted for inflation, to please come rule over them with an iron fist. Turns out they lied, but the economy crashed and never recovered (thanks Putin), so I'm stuck teaching people how to make file extensions visible and cheat on compliance tests.

Question marks. Meaning, I might have misunderstood the question (since there's nothing particularly unusual in having a crappy job. How do people get crappy jobs? They post or answer an ad and get hired. Same as anywhere else in the world, I suspect.)

It wouldn't be that hard to pick up if you already knew some Russian. I mean, different alphabet, sure, but a lot of shared/similar vocabulary.

[And if you don't know Russian, the fact that the Polish alphabet is Latin-based would make it easier to pick up of the two]

Hey, I barely know English.. I don't hold out much hope of learning Russian or Polish...
