JudasIscariot: Umm we still have that for positions that actually require that sort of attention to detail. See the junior QA position.

Maighstir: Sound like catpower1980 doesn't have nearly enough attention to detail to even be considered.
Nooooo!!! My dreams are now shattered :(

catpower1980: The knowledge and life experience of elders people prevails for a job at GOG (after all it's originally a place for old gamers ^o^). I also have the extra-perk of speaking French natively so I can easily communicate with a part of the team:
http://www.jeuxvideo.com/videos/425087/concours-gog-com-et-cd-projekt-red.htm

That gives me the bonus to call Guillaume Rambourg "Guigui" :o)
Ah, but how could you appeal to the old crowd through social media? Quite obviously, they're trying to reach us young folks. And I speak excellent English, with all sorts of slang my fellow Americans would understand. Plus, what American doesn't love seeing another American? And America's the biggest potential moneymaker there is for any company.

And just from my obnoxious patriotism alone, it's readily apparent that I'm more of a capitalist than you, despite your tagline! Har!
...
No, I don't know what my point is with all this. Whatever it is, I'm sure it'll get me a job.
Obviously.

zeogold: I honestly don't see how they could benefit much from any social media. It seems to me that they're trying to draw in a younger crowd (my age - 20s), but just from the forum alone, you can pretty much tell that the clientele is mainly old guys (30+). I think they'd have better luck spending their time advertising elsewhere.
That's because you don't understand the power of social media and PR. You, GOG user/zealot, are not the target audience. With a person who knows what they're doing, GOG could explode with new activity. The old zealots need nothing more since they're here no matter what. :P

Companies make the mistake though of either hiring interns (which are idiots that are either too zealous and defensive, or too inexperience and unconnected) or assigning a company employee to it that really just posts announcements and updates as they come along. That's not how it works when you want to use it effectively. It's sad that some Tumblr blogger could apply though and they probably would fall for the idea that this person was qualified. Funny, but sad. xD

Also older people will actually come to work every single day instead of when they feel like it.

The result of relying on the fairy too much.

At least do your own ledger record.

MaximumBunny: or assigning a company employee to it that really just posts announcements and updates as they come along.
This is mainly the reason I think it won't work. That's all I EVER see happen, which makes the entire thing pointless since it's nothing you couldn't find on the GOG site.

...which is obviously why they should hire me! Right? Right?
Come on, y'all, you KNOW I'm the best guy for the job.
Nothing about the game FEAR the title has miss lead me.

Dear GOG user,

It has come to our attention that you've apparently been misled by an unofficial thread on our forums.

The game you're looking for ("F.E.A.R.") can be found at the the current adress:
https://www.gog.com/game/fear_platinum

We also have the sequel in our evergrowing catalog, so you might want to check it out too:
https://www.gog.com/game/fear_2_project_origin_reborn

We hope that you have now all the informations you need. We're still available if you have any other questions regarding GOG and our catalog offer.

Sincerely Yours.

GOG Team

Am I doing it right?
Well... Gog's community manager identity is a mistery so you have that...

Which part requires that kind of attention?

QA - "Don't tell me you didn't notice that two-headed squirrels left toe is half a pixel off!"

or

Junior - "How can it be that my coffee cup has been empty for full five minutes?!"

?

;-)

catpower1980: Yep, upon seeing the latest "social media manager" job available at GOG...
I read that as "social media anger". :o

Well "social media anger management" is certainly part of the job ;-)
