A couple of days ago I wrote to Square Enix and asked for a release of "Life is Strange" here on GOG. I did the same with Bethesda and "DOOM".

Along with my message I forwarded links to the respective community wishlist to get their attention. The wishlist is a handy tool that we can all use to generate attention.

See a game you would like to be released on GOG? Look up their contact email or get in touch via social media and tell them what you want to say.

I believe activism has an impact and there's no reason why the aforementioned games and many others shouldn't be available on GOG.
It is something I do a lot off.

I'm personally disgusted that Steam is the only option for too many games.

Unfortunately for the bigger publishers there is no way to get a direct message to anyone. I doubt the marketing director (or anyone else with any influence over such matters) pops onto the forums.

For the Q+A with GoG BizDev, I've asked what can the community do to help get games onto GoG.

Did they ever answer those inquiries for the BizDev team? Seems like ages ago they posted the AMA.

Looks like its going to be the end of April now.
I poked one of the Caves of Qud devs last year and he said he'd think seriously about getting Caves of Qud to GOG.

The game is still in development and gets weekly updates and is progressing well so far.
The website has a development roadmap:

The game is an RPG with permadeath set in a really fascinating world, with character design offering MANY possibilities, an atmospheric soundtrack and just so many great ideas.

But procrastinism pays off now! :D

I have a policy to not be free labor for companies though. At least Steam pays you. You only pay into GOG and rarely see any payoff for that. Vacant staff, slow updates, rejection of games that belong here, higher prices, broken forum, grumpy community, etc. It'd be nice if they had direction, progress, and motivation. I don't know why their CEO just left them to flail in the water.

Yeah, honestly why should I care or waste my time when I could spend that time playing DOOM on my Steam?

Besides, something like DOOM relies on a lot of online/Steamworks stuff, something GOG is ill equipped to deal with and Bethesda probably doesn't want to devote time to ripping out just for one store.

My view is this. I don't want to and will not use Steam. It is simply incompatible with what I feel is my legal use of software.

So I'm happy to be a GoG activist, because there are games I want to play.
This thread might come in handy :D
I wrote to Swing Swing Submarine, the developers of Blocks That Matter and Tetrobot & Co, asking whether there were any plans to bring their new, currently Steam-only game Seasons After Fall here to GOG as well. They told me that they didn't really know due to working with a publisher this time, who happens to be Focus Home Interactive. Focus Home Interactive is a GOG partner already for some games, so I directed my question at them, but sadly I never even received a reply. :/

I've contacted Focus home several times over various game and not had a reply back, which I think is rather rude. Useful for badgering the right holders of older games. But for modern games its normally quite easy to track down the companies involved.

Getting them to listen is another thing.

I had some fun doing that in 2013-14 for GOG, but it ate too much time since I was really into it. I and passionate others like Sinistar, Barry_Woodward, etc. did help bring some games here. (I was kind of rewarded with Pajama Sam actually coming, which was awesome to see.) Now it's an occasional thing.

I know a number of indie games I've contacted have released here, whether that was due to me contacting them or it was always their intention I don't know.

Why would you do that? That's GOG's job. Do you make a habit of doing unpaid work for corporations?

Given that a lot of Gamers will happily beta test, or even pay to beta test via In Dev or Early Access; the idea of doing unpaid work isn't that odd.
