We are excited to announce that today, on August 24th – the Independence Day of Ukraine – we are implementing Ukrainian localization into our GOG GALAXY client, available for all of you who want the client to be in the Ukrainian language.

To offer this personalized GOG GALAXY experience to our Ukrainian community is something that gives us an immense amount of joy. We purposefully took the effort to release it on a day as significant as the celebration of Ukraine's independence in order to show our support for all our Ukrainian players.

Bringing Ukrainian language to GOG GALAXY client is the first step to make the GOG Platform fully localized in the future.

Now, there's only one thing left to do: check out all the amazing bargains from our ongoing Made in Ukraine sale and enjoy games created by our talented friends from Ukraine.

TheCleaner517: But why didn't they make a banner when they added any other language? Why didn't they make a show about it?
Therein lies the issue. Translations for other languages would have been a mere footnote on a GOG Galaxy update announcement. Your complaint is legitimate, and the dissenting viewpoint is appreciated.
Big thanks from Ukraine for adding Ukrainian language to GOG! This is very exciting news!
avatar
JCDenton32: They are literally doing both. Right now, today, on the web page.

You just have an issue with the Ukraininans and are afraid to be honest about it.

Next time just say: "I don't like it when the Ukranians get things because.......

That way you are at least a little honest when being a bigot as opposed to trying to imply that a software retail company can't release games and provide language support at the same time.
avatar
TheCleaner517: Yes, I am a bigot towards Ukrainians.... because a game store added your language. Let's not forget that this same game store has stopped the sale of games being sold here from Russia, isolating an entire people because of their government. That's it. You got me.

To be honest I could care less. But why didn't they make a banner when they added any other language? Why didn't they make a show about it? Or is it because Ukraine good, Russia bad situation that's going on?

Get your head out of the ground. Trying to stop the sale of Russian dev made games here doesn't actually hurt Russia...just the devs and their families that live there.

This banner about adding the Ukrainian language, while great they are adding the language, is ridiculous because they are trying to score browning points with the E.U.

This is a game store....sell games and stop trying to be self righteous about one group of people while stigmatizing an entirely different group because of a few bad apples.

the hypocrisy is overwhelming.

Or why not add it in the first place? They had Russian. Why didn't they add Ukrainian as well before the whole war? Ask yourself that. Was it because they said well, people speak Russian there so just leave it alone. Or is it because now that there is a war they are going, well, let's see about adding the language specifically to get some browning points....

They don't care my dude. They want the business now that they see an opportuniy. Otherwise they would have done it long ago.

Truth hurts, don't care who I make mad about it.
Ah people, i recognize this style. He is 100% rashist goverment paid troll not from USA as he stated in profile. They need to post 200 posts/comments per day to get paid.
We fighting with very similar propagandas in my country media webpages too.

Back on topic.
Congratulations Ukrainians, you rock.

I appreciate that. Alot on here don't seem to see my point. I'm not against the Ukrainian language being brought to the game store. Far from it. Let's have every language here, as hard as that would be, it would be great.

But let's not play dumb and think that the current political climate has nothing to do with it. And then turn around and say "Russian bad no Russian"... when trying to "boycott" them from a game store standpoint, really does nothing at all for effect and only ends up hurting innocent Russian devs and their families along with innocent Russian civilians that would have enjoyed games from this store.

It's just hypocrisy. Simple.

Lol while I would love to get paid to make comments on posts, as it would offset this garbage Bidenomics we have here, sadly that is not the case. Hate to disappoint your hive mind.

Does it ever wierd you out that, here we are 30-40 years aftrer the cold war, and you find yoruself championing the Russian cause?
In the name of equality or freedom no less.....

Eh, eaisest way to identify a bigot is on display here.

Tell a non-bigoted person they have done something bigoted and they will usually self reflect, and either change their behavior or not changfe, but usually apologize for any misunderstanding. Because open minded people usually don't think they are superior to everyone.

Bigots always double down on why they were justified in their bigotry and then supply a bunch of half-baked broken justifications that fall apart under the slighetst of scrutiny in a thinly veiled attempty to avoid repsonsibility for their actions, and try to appear like they are noble in some fashion.

They haven't caught on the fact that before the internet and google you could get away with the smile on the outside and then curse you in the inside nonsense, but today there is just no reasonable way to hide being a bigot.
Usually because bigots thing they are superior to everyone and that they can fool those "lesser" than them.

Sad.

While I'm not a GOG GALAXY user (I may be using the client sometime in the future though), I really appreciate the effort you guys put to implement my native language. Thank you very much GOG and all the best to members of your team.

We got your point. In you previous post here (post #51) you just showed that you are against it. Why don't you give it a break and let Ukrainians enjoy the moment of recognition. I think we deserved it.

For a person who used the word "bigot" six times in their post, or a different form thereof, you seem to lack the observation that usually the ones who use that word are the actual self projecting "bigots". Leftists, Marxists, commies, fascists, socialists, etc all attack anyone with a dissenting viewpoint to their comfort blanket of government propaganda.

You basically outted yourself as a lemming. Do yourself a favor and think outside the box from what you are told to think.

Just stop pretending of being sarcastic. This post is sarcastic.

And your post is definitely not. I can understand your frustration, but I ask you again to stop flooding the thread with your bias.

Drink some vodka and chill, comrade.

Meanwhile I am going to buy a few more games from GoG to celebrate an Independence day in Ukraine ;)

Aah. The nuh-uh, you are defense.

Quant, and as dishonest as it was in the 60s as it is today.

Also, you seem to be in an odd position where you are accusing others of not being as much of a free thinker as you are, while at the same time, someone from the Ulriane, half way across the world just mentioned a few psots back that you are parroting Ruissian propaganda talking points in your attempt to justify your outrage at the Ukrianinas getting langauge support.

A coutry (Russia) I might add, seems to be full of all the "Leftists, Marxists, commies, etc you just mentioned.

Your cognitive dissonance is as amusing to see on dispaly as it is amusing to see self destruct in the light of reality.

Look. It's ok.
You can just say you beleive Russian propaganda and don't like the Ukranians because someone told you that is what you should think. Then at least you can be honest with yourself that your a bigot now.
Thank you very much for the Ukrainian localization.
Thank you! Very cool
