[EDIT: September 9th, 2pm GMT]

Update 1.1 to the GOG Galaxy beta is now available for everyone! Enjoy the new features and remember to submit your feedback in the dedicated GOG Galaxy Beta forum thread and report any bugs at mantis.gog.com.

Rollback, friend search, pausing downloads, and more in the biggest update yet.

Have you tried the GOG Galaxy beta yet? This is an awesome chance to jump on board. Our DRM-free online gaming platform has already been tested by so many of you we can barely count, and today we're ready to roll out the first major patch with new features and plenty of quality of life optimizations.

Update 1.1 to the GOG Galaxy beta will bring the anticipated Rollback feature, allowing you to restore your game to prior states with just a single click. Game updates are now not only optional, but also reversible.

The weeks following our GOG Galaxy-powered release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt were a chance for the team to collect feedback and to work on perfecting the Client while addressing many of your top feature requests. The newest 1.1 update includes much-requested improvements to the friend system (making it easier to find and invite friends), pausing & resuming downloads, extended pre-installation options with more ways to configure your games, and an improved app UI and navigation. The entire client will now be more resource-friendly while also becoming faster.

The 1.1 update is available today for everyone enrolled to receive preview updates through GOG Galaxy, but it will also be rolling out very soon to the entire userbase. Those of you eager to test out the announced improvements today, can simply navigate to your GOG Galaxy settings screen and select the option to “Receive preview updates”.

To download the client and read about what’s new and improved in update 1.1, visit www.gog.com/galaxy. Make sure to subscribe to the preview updates to try them out yourself, and as always, you can submit your problems and find new solutions on the dedicated GOG Galaxy Beta forum thread.

Starmaker: It's the same for me, but I don't even recall rejecting anyone.
avatar
mrkgnao: So far I know of four people who suffer from this. I am the only one associating it with a reject, so I may well be wrong. Still, I believe GOG could have figured it by now, if they had looked into it.
To clarify: it's "I don't even recall" as in "my memory is faulty", not an "I definitely haven't". I'm not exactly swamped with friend requests, so I like to think I would have remembered declining anyone, but, what with persistent chat spam at the time, a random request from a likely spammer might have slipped my mind.

Wurzelkraft: Will we be able to download old installers through the website and if not: why?
avatar
JudasIscariot: We've always replaced the old installers whenever a new version of an offline installer was uploaded. If you seriously need an older installer, let us know :)
Please, answer the question instead of going arount it. Why is not available?
You use the Rollback feature as Galaxy selling point, why an option like that is not available on the site?
Galaxy is already failing as a backup tool so most of the users would prefer to use the site instead. When Galaxy will be discontinued we will need that feature on the site.

Because it's impractical to host all of the old offline installers (some game have almost 30 offline installer versions because of frequent updates) all at once and would do nothing but create extra work for us and confusion for everyone else.

See, it's not that difficult to answer.
About the reply, I have to partially disagree. Confusion is part of GOG main priority, GOG rarely missed a chance to create that for their users :)
Anyway, that could be fixed by generating installers from the same versioning system you use to provide the updates for Galaxy, a much requested features. Well the more requested is the ability to have standalone installer compatible with Galaxy so that you can always reainstall your game without Galaxy and also doesn't have to download the game twice (one for installing it on Galaxy and one for backup).

Thanks very much for the update. Not sure if this has already been requested but support for High DPI needs to be added. On a 3200x1800 monitor using 200% scaling the text is almost too small to read. Steam has supported this for some time now

The offline installers are already like this. You can run them without Galaxy and uninstall them without Galaxy. They've been like this ever since GOG Galaxy was released :)

The offline installers can be installed without Galaxy already and you can always import your game into Galaxy later if you so choose :)

No, you are not the only one. That's exactly my case too.

I think we should be able to rollback with installers downloaded via your website too and not by requesting it with a support ticket since that's inconvenient and slow. Otherwise I'm not sure if Galaxy is "optional" or not...
I'll probably jump on this update, haven't used Galaxy since I installed it a while back. Can anyone say if this (or any recent version) works well as a replacement for the GOG Downloader? I mean in the same sense of getting the compressed archives. I know it's possible in Galaxy, but it's buried a few clicks deep. Wondering if they've sensibly moved it closer to the surface lately.

Good. So two are related to rejecting a "friend" whose account got cancelled.

In my case, it was danielx99 who was offering cheap GOG games via the chat around May 22. Quite a few of us got his chats.

You are purposely missing my point.
Installers have always been like this, true. I haven't objected to that fact. They miss rollback and usually are named to add confusion ot the users.
Galaxy simply download the files it needs, without compressing them first to be sure to use as much bandwidth as possible. It doesn't allow you to backup the installation in a way you can use that in the future without Galaxy. To do that you have to again download the installer. Confusing.
Also Galaxy import games even if you don't want it to do that. Confusing.
So while I can understand the technicality of the reason you don't provide rollback standalone installer (even if you avoided any explanation), please don't say that is to avoid confusing for the sake of the customers. If GOG was about customers satisfaction, it would've been a completly different store now. One, for instance, that listen to its customers and try to improve things following feedbacks. One that doesn't forcefully push half-baked updates and force users to live with them for months. Just saying.

HiDPI support is part of preview Update 1.1, including hi-res contents and UI. There is one known issue related to size of the Client windows when launching the Client (just resize the window a little to fix it), but contents should scale properly with display DPI (tested on both Mac OS X and Windows)
Is there any security issue with the Galaxy client ?
Only issue I have with the update is shown in the attached.
Happens every time I open Galaxy now. Doesn't seem to hurt anything but it's very annoying.
Vista 32bit.

If GOG were about satisfying the whims of every customer, it would be a completely non-functional store. Valve makes changes to its system and tells you to like them. GOG makes an effort to give options and allow for more user freedom. Sometimes they screw up, but I don't understand why the one company trying to cater to people like you gets so much criticism for doing it slower than you would like, or only providing 3 options instead of 100.
