Hi, everyone!

The Galaxy team is hard at work to bring you the Client application that will let you manage your GOG.com games library more conveniently. We’d love for the initial release experience to be as smooth and streamlined as possible for everyone, but releasing an app of this scope is no easy feat.

But before we jump in and hand out the alpha Client, we’d like to set some ground rules.

1) The key word here is ‘alpha’, which means that this is not the final app and not all functionalities are present. The purpose of this test is to evaluate the core tech in the Client on a wider set of computer configurations than what we can locally test on, so only core features are included. Below I will post a detailed list of what is present and what we plan to add in future releases.

2) Alpha also means that you can encounter some unexpected issues. If you have a metered connection (a bandwidth cap or payments per bandwidth used) or you’re currently playing and can’t afford a loss of game time, this might not be for you. In other words, if you want to avoid potential problems with the alpha Client, simply wait for the final release.

3) Please, please, please refrain from posting screenshots, reviews or first impressions, both on our forums or elsewhere, as this is not the final product and many changes will still be made.

If you’ve read all of the above proceed to the signup page: http://www.gog.com/galaxy/alpha

We will be sending out invitations in batches (along with some more info on how to install the client and report bugs), so not everyone will receive one right away.

HOW TO IMPORT EXISTING GAMES INSTALLATIONS INTO GALAXY

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the "+" button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library, then click the More button and select "Manage" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

I've done alpha and beta tests for a number of softwares over the last several years. Here's hoping I get into this one, too. Something about being a part of a big release like this is just awesome. :)
Didn't know that the alpha had already started. Hoping to get a key soon!

AndyM77: So sadly it sounds as if it's something system related in your case.
I've tried Teenagent via Galaxy on my laptop. Worked both windowed and fullscreen with out issue.

I have built a "new" PC (frankenstien'd from older stuff and a new GPU) and installed the Technical Preview of Windows 10 on there. Have it hooked up to my TV. Tried Teenagent via Galaxy. Worked perfectly both windowed and fullscreen.

Just wish I could work out what the issue is so I could properly submit it, now I'm 99% convinced its not me, but definitely an incompatibility. I'm kinda miffed I found a problem, and therefor can legitimately contibute, but can't find whats causing it. Makes it.. sorta pointless. bugger.

HeDanny: but can't find whats causing it.
Question 1) Do the files download in the download folder properly?
Question 2) Do all the files move from the download folder to the library folder, or are some left behind?
Question 3) Do the log files contain anything relevant after the download is marked as completed?
Question 4) Do the log files contain anything relevant after attempting to start the game?

Another suggestion with the repair, to see if everything works as it should. Install TeenAgent without galaxy, let Galaxy identify the game, then delete a couple of files (the executable for example). Then ask Galaxy to repair, and see if it does download the missing files.

I would suggest submitting a bug report either way, so the blues can ask for more details, especially since I'm not sure what else those might be.
The next batch of alpha invitations will be sent out early next week, once we release next update to the Client.
I think galaxy should have better gog library integration, i should be able to install via galaxy games that i already purchased if i wish to do so. Galaxy can't recognize games that i purchased via the gog shop. i tried to purchase a game that i own and i didn't received any notification that i already have this game.

As has been noted in the first post, not every game is currently supported with the alpha version.
I am sorry for this mistake it seems like i didn't read everything as i should.
I've been using the client for about a month and the major things I would like to see are:
a download quene
download bar
scan system for installed GOG games
(How the last one would be done I have no idea but it might be helpful for in the final release.) These things may have been mentioned earlier but I am not reading 10 pages to look. The last one in particular would be helpful if you already have installed games in the directory (ie if I had already installed subwar 2050 in the directory but it overwrote). If it's coming great!

wizisi2k: a download quene
Known issue, already reported in the tracker, planned feature.

Should be there already. Install game in Galaxy's Library path, launch Galaxy, it should identify the game. If it doesn't, when first queuing the game for download, it should do a verification and only download modified files. No idea about 2050 though.

I like the sound of that.

EDIT: Why is Galaxy still accessing my C:\? I specifically told it that my folders and such were only on my E:\, but I just got a Virus scan warning that Galaxy was accessing my C:\ to install a game.

Is there anyway to prevent this, or better WILL there be anyway to prevent this. My C:\ is not for general use.

Did you change the folders to E:\... "after" you added them to the download queue or before ?

Because currently Galaxy only change the temporary and install folders for newly queued games, not for the ones that are already being downloaded or already in the download queue.
I changed my folders to E:/ before I queued the game. A few days before in fact.

Strange, and if you look in the "download/temporary" folder, are files appearing there during the download ?

I have Galaxy and Galaxy Client folders in my Program Data folder. There is a lot of information stored in this folder about my current installs etc. It may be an unavoidable evil.
