Hi, everyone!

The Galaxy team is hard at work to bring you the Client application that will let you manage your GOG.com games library more conveniently. We’d love for the initial release experience to be as smooth and streamlined as possible for everyone, but releasing an app of this scope is no easy feat.

But before we jump in and hand out the alpha Client, we’d like to set some ground rules.

1) The key word here is ‘alpha’, which means that this is not the final app and not all functionalities are present. The purpose of this test is to evaluate the core tech in the Client on a wider set of computer configurations than what we can locally test on, so only core features are included. Below I will post a detailed list of what is present and what we plan to add in future releases.

2) Alpha also means that you can encounter some unexpected issues. If you have a metered connection (a bandwidth cap or payments per bandwidth used) or you’re currently playing and can’t afford a loss of game time, this might not be for you. In other words, if you want to avoid potential problems with the alpha Client, simply wait for the final release.

3) Please, please, please refrain from posting screenshots, reviews or first impressions, both on our forums or elsewhere, as this is not the final product and many changes will still be made.

If you’ve read all of the above proceed to the signup page: http://www.gog.com/galaxy/alpha

We will be sending out invitations in batches (along with some more info on how to install the client and report bugs), so not everyone will receive one right away.

HOW TO IMPORT EXISTING GAMES INSTALLATIONS INTO GALAXY

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the "+" button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library, then click the More button and select "Manage" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

Manny-Calavera: The issue i'm having with it is not tracking all the games i own on GoG. There are games missing from the client that i have on the website.
As mentioned in the first post, not all GOG games are currently compatible with Galaxy.

Destro: Any specific game where you observed this issue? And were were comparing installer downloading in both apps or "Install" process in Galaxy to standalone installer download in Downloader?
No specific game really, seems to happen anytime I'm downloading with Galaxy (ie not a standalone installer), and not installing... my speed seems to be up and down... ie jumping from about 1.3 - 1.5 MB/s back down to .7 MB/s then 0.1 MB/s then back to about 1.5 MB/s. It kind of just goes all over the place. Not a huge issue because it does download but would be faster if it stayed at a steady speed.

The GOG downloader (ie downloading standalone installer) though seems to always be a pretty steady 1.3 - 1.5 MB/s for the most part. So yes were comparing downloading in both apps, as of now downloading seems to be more steady via the downloader in my experience.

Grargar: Alone in the Dark isn't planned to be unbundled, so no. In the past, someone asked why GOG included the sequels as extras, instead of putting them all in a single installer like all other bundled games. The answer from one of the staff members was, "due to licensing reasons".
I don't see how licensing issues that prevent them from being sold separately could possibly affect whether or not they let you access the files you've purchased from within their launcher, so I don't really know why that would matter in any way.

I never said anything about selling them separately, but only why the games are included as extras, instead of being bundled in a single installer as was the case with other bundled games. For one reason or another, GOG isn't selling you Alone in the Dark 1+2+3, but only Alone in the Dark, with the sequels included as extras. Creating separate entries for Galaxy might not be possible for them.

As stated previously, due to licensing reasons, this is how it needs to be.
I'm not sure if there's a way to see which games were updated last.

For example, if I leave the client running and I get an update and it completely finishes downloading by the time I arrive home will I be able to see that I got an update for a game?

The other thing I miss is the ability to open the downloaded extras. If you download a soundtrack from the Extras, there's no way to open the downloaded file or directory. If I click on it again, I'd expect it to open the downloaded file or directory (if multiple files are here). Or, to be even better, an "Open" and "Download" options should appear when we hover the mouse over them in some form...

Just an idea.
Started Galaxy this morning and was for some reason logged out. Logged back in which took forever for some reason, found all my games in a different order and my "last played" had been reset. I believe the last played issue has already been reported but I'm having a hard time finding it on mantis with all the open tickets.

We were doing some backend optimisations this morning and had to log out some people from the Client.

It's a known issue, it will be fixed in the next update.

Actually as of now both things are addressed inside downloads list - to open it, click on the download arrow at the bottom left side of the window.

1. You will see there list of downloads that happened, including any auto recent updates. On the screenshot I've attached you will see a completed update for This War of Mine - it was actually an auto update, as I have them enabled for all games.

2. To show any downloaded item, simply hover on it in the downloads list. It will show you a loupe icon that opens Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac) pointing at the right thing.

This would be great if this could also include how large an update was when it completed. I'd also like to see when you have updates disabled, a conformation window pop up or something telling you the size of the update before the download is started.

I still can't log in to the client. I tried several times. I finally reset my password. Still no luck. Bummer.

For #1 it's good to know that it's resolved. And also nice that you can open the location of the file (just tried, it works fine).

However, what I find a little confusing that in the Extras list you have no way to tell which extra you already have downloaded. So whenever you click on the "Manual" it gets downloaded again and again. See the attached screenshot.

I'm not sure if it's only me who finds it strange or other people too. Would be good to also hear others' opinion about this.

Are you getting any particular error? Can you logout and login on the website? There is no wide spread issue with login system, so it seems to be isolated to your account atm.
Seen achievements are same as Steam, can we sync achievement to Galaxy?
