You can also perform backups easily by downloading a standalone installer through GOG Galaxy. The beta features a friends list, game time tracking, achievements, and chat. You can now talk to each other, connect with your group of friends, and see what everyone is playing. You can also try out our online multiplayer & matchmaking solution that, in select titles, includes cross-play: platform-independent multiplayer between gamers on GOG.com and Steam. If you download a patch that breaks something or if you just change your mind, the app will soon feature a unique rollback option to restore a previous version of your game.

Best of all, GOG Galaxy is optional. If you don't want to use any additional software, your experience with us won't change at all. If you only want to take advantage of select conveniences, you can toggle them on and off. It's all totally up to you.

Finally, it's here! Love how you can control most of the features and opt-out!

Can you make achievements private? (I know you can turn them off)

And why does the Client have to be on our shelf? :(

Will give this a try, now the only wish I have is a total forum revamp! :D

Lemon_Curry: I guess that means you'll finally enable non-Galaxy users to do the same (e.g. by (at least) including previous installers), right?

I'm positive there is a wish list entry for it somewhere but unfortunately I can't seem to find it.

Sure we have. Lots of influence. After all, they let us "rollback" the unbundling, didn't they?

The sign up description makes it sound like you would get the email right off but apparently not.

We're just looking at it the wrong way. GOG provides us the joy of remembrance in a modern-world digitally-distributed time frame. I really miss my grognard days of the late 80s, and drinking after the swing shift in 03-05, and those backyard BBQs in 09-10. But here we regularly get to cherish two months ago. I've barely been active here a year and there are so many great things to remember. I imagine there will be a tiny little not-yet-invented data storage device somewhere near my deathbed with all my bundled installers and the Armas safely tucked away.

I think you're on to something.
Imagine the pleasure of reliving the websites of your "youth".
You could relive the out-of-beta GOG website closure, or a time when all GOG games cost either $5.99 or $9.99, or even the couple of days when "Dark Matter" was available for sale.
I believe there's a start-up there.
I even have a name for it: "Good Old Websites".

A fair number of people are asking questions about Galaxy that have already been answered by GOG staff, in some cases many times either in this thread previously or in the alpha thread or the News announcement thread etc. If anyone has a question about Galaxy that seems like it is something that many people would probably like to know there is a good chance that someone if not many people have already asked it, and a reasonably good chance that GOG has already responded. They're rather busy though so they are unlikely to answer the same questions multiple times over and over all day long, so it is a good idea for people to search the thread to see if their question has already been answered and to check the related threads also in case it's been answered in one of them. One way to make this a lot easier, is to add "?staff=yes" to the end of the URL of any given forum thread as that extracts all staff comments (blue) for easy perusal. One can further refine with the search feature of the page, as well as their web browser's search (CTRL+F) of keywords.

Hopefully this will help more people find answers to their questions in case people get tired of repeating themselves and stop responding. :)

Not sure if it's a bug, but when I used the code for Galaxy Alpha, the page said I was going to get the Beta. I downloaded the file thinking it was released already, but this is not the case. :/
