== BUG REPORTING ==

Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

YpSan: Can't resume my 23 Gb download, not even verify the game files because I pressed the only available option "Abort".
Why did you introduce this piece of sh.. software anyway?

Gog Galaxy sucks. Just leave GoG downloader as optional or I will have to purchase and download from other places in the future. Thank you.
To be fair, GoG Galaxy is still in public Beta, and ther eason you do that is to find errors and problems.

Galaxy isn't working for me right now (maybe something to do with the update?).

It loads up fine & I can browse the store. The issue is when I try to access my library.

The main library screen displays fine but when I click on any game no details display... just the spinning loading circle... which never goes away.

All I see is:

Game Title

[Install] [More]

O <- spinning loading circle

-edit- Already installed games display fine, if that helps narrow down the issue.

-edit- And now it's working again. Just a server-end problem then :)

mack321: Hello im Alien from Alfa Centaury and im scanning this forum

PS: make a better friendlist
Nice to meet you Alien! Here on earth we actually spell it Alpha Centauri, but as you are from out of town it's understandable.
It appears that the downloader function of Galaxy is essentially the same as downloading via http. (browser)
It will not check installer files to see if they need updated, it just downloads the whole thing every time.
Am I wrong here or is this your experience too?

Edited to clarify.

So no achievement support yet for Witcher 3? since it probably need the overlay to work?
Was hoping for this feature to be in at launch, but maybe GOG will work a miracle!
Needs more cooking time, but it's coming along nicely. I'd appreciate finer controls for bandwidth.

It does check if FILES exist or not, but it doesn't use the installers. So if you grab the installer galaxy does not know anything about that. The files galaxy tracks are the actual files in the game directory, which is nice in the future. If someone updates their game with an updated readme.txt, galaxy will just download that one tiny file.

For now though, there may even be some bugs with this process where it downloads a lot more than it should.

If you want to use the installers and then register the game in galaxy, you can do so - download the installer from galaxy by clicking on the game, then click on more->get backup. After a game has been installed via an installer, you can again click on the game, then go to more->manage->import folder, and point it to where you installed the game.

I was referring to the 'install.exe files' themselves. Whenever I get an update flag I download the new installer so my backup stays up to date.
Galaxy seems to have no version checking for that like the GOG Downloader does.
GOG should really look into this issue as soon as possible. That kind of makes me worried about using Galaxy, seeing as I'm on a horrible cap. xD

At this point if you have a bandwidth cap Galaxy is not what you want to use.
It is a terrible bandwidth hog.
Just use the GOG Downloader to get the install files and install from there.
That's of course a bit of a problem if you want multi-player. :/
Edit: And remember it's just a Beta, they are working hard to get the bugs out.

Oh I have no problem staying under cap with Galaxy as long as I know what it's using, Been using it since December during alpha with little issue. But a bug that can take 100's of GB's is worrying. I get unlimited usage during certain times of the day which is when I normally do my updating/downloading unless the update is small. :)

I'm curious what you meant by there being a problem if someone wants multiplayer, could you clarify? Just curious because you get the exact same game no matter how you download it with or without Galaxy and the game either supports multiplayer or not modulo file synchronization issues between the different backend servers. Makes no difference if you're using Galaxy client to download it or launch the game though, multiplayer functionality of games is built into the games themselves and not the Galaxy client.

Galaxy seems to have no version checking for that like the GOG Downloader does.
I understood your question, but your (understandable) confusion is that Galaxy does not use install.exe files at all. Instead, it scans the install directory for a game for what files it knows should be there (readme.txt, data folders, launch game.exe etc) and downloads them all individually. When there is an update, it again downloads the individual files that have changed.

NO install.exe files at all. Galaxy itself is the install.exe. It's a totally different method. Eventually a bandwidth saver - rather than download an updated installer that's the size of the original, it just patches in a few files.

Currently incomplete, and a bandwidth hog.

Sledge1: I just tried to play Wing Commander 4, and it won't start through Galaxy.. absolutely nothing happens when i press the PLAY button
But i can play it by running the Launch Wing Commander IV shortcut in the games' folder

skeletonbow: I had that happen with a couple of games also and filed bug reports for them in Mantis which I recommend doing also. If you do, post the bug URL here. I'm installing WC4 right now to see if I can also reproduce it and I'll add a comment to your bug report as well.
I won't be able to do that for a few days at least..
