== BUG REPORTING ==

Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

kot0005: Aborting download removes the files completely. Now I have to re download 26.4gb of witcher 3.. I tried to save the files to a different location but gog galaxy still deletes them and does a fresh download. This is so broken.
avatar
lebowitz: Abort means abort, what did you think would happen? Just use the gog downloader if your bandwidth is such a valuable resource. Alternatively, there's a bit of a workaround to pause downloads with Galaxy. If you close the client before the download is finished, you can launch the client later and verify the files, and it will resume where it left off.
Yeah I knmow abort is stopping but it shouldnt remove the files completely. Bndwidth not the issue its the speeds I get. Took me a day to download 24gb
Gog galaxy client looking nice so far.
I think many of us have this question:

If TW3 is downloaded via the website, then installed and added to the galaxy library, will it record game time and achievements?
Gog galaxy is cool and good.

Krageesh: If I download the Witcher 3 installer, install it, then add the folder to GoG Galaxy, I get the same features as if I downloaded the game directly through Galaxy right? Auto-update, achievements and such.
Yes, exactly. :)
You really should have waited for the website redesign 'till the beta of galaxy is over and it is going to be released. The current state is a complete mess IMHO.

1. Gifts are now under Orders&Settings and I first have to tick off the selections in a dropdown menu. (Usability Level: Beneath Hell).
2. Getting gog-downloader-links is a pain in the ass, everything seems to be just more clicks away.
3. "Pages" in the Library. Really? At least give me the side selection at the top and not only at the bottom.
4. "Dark"-Theme completely removed?
5. Little icons indication plattforms for the games missing now?
6. Instead of adding the "forum"-link on the game page additionally to the shelf page you now removed it there and put into this dropdown menu.
7. Everything now seems to be grey-in-grey. Missing icons indicating the filetype of a downloaded extra content are also missing.
8. Removed links to the store page for shelf games?

And I'm pretty sure i could add several entries to this list...

Please, before you decide to mess up your website again at least make it optional first until it is finished and not in an half-useable state.
Just updated GOG Galaxy and all of my installed games were deleted from off my drive?

This happened whilst downloading a game which has since ceased downloading.

I'm getting a 'server problem' message next to the more tab.

I've been trying to download TW3 for 2 days now from the (most up to date) Galaxy Beta and the downloads are PAINFULLY slow (often it just stops altogether). I have a 150Mbps connection, so it's not a bandwidth issue... if I download it direct from the GoG website, I can grab it pretty fast, so it seems it's an issue with the Galaxy Client. I know the Galaxy Client is downloading the uncompressed game directory and not the packaged installer files... maybe that's part of the problem, I don't know... but at the rate it's going now, I won't even make it for launch day with the Galaxy Client, so I may have to just use the installer files downloaded from the GoG site and import the folder into Galaxy.

saluk: However, the mark of "winxp not supported" on the bug you filed (which you seem to have taken GREAT offense at) was less a communication to you, and more of a triage action. They only have enough time to look at so many bugs, and your specific bug had a TON of winxp related elements to it. Enough that while the bug on Win7 may be for the same reason, it may actually exist for a different reason. As someone who works in bug software like this, in a situation like yours I too would glance through the bug and immediately think "oh, this is a winxp issue". It's not immediately clear that it might not be.
I don't want to begin with the whole XP thing again - I never wanted it in the first place (and I am about to give up on XP so this won't be an issue in the future) but I was angry that I was brushed off so easy given all the time I tried to help THEM. But I know how the registry works and the "installed software" part in the two registrys work pretty much the same. So a professional should have noticed this. Also the fact that I told them that the first installed game is featured in the start menu as "The Witcher Enhanced Edition" and the imported as "The Witcher Enhanced Edition Director's Cut" should have ring a bell. I have programmed myself and if I try to check if an Entry already exists, I would ask the script if this specific entry DOES already exist. Given that the Galaxy version has a different name Galaxy thinks that this is not the case and makes another entry. This has absolutely nothing to do with XP at all.

avatar
saluk: The terseness of the message in that bug has less to do with "telling you off" and more to do with "to future folks looking through the bug tracker, this is why I closed this bug and didn't look into it".
As I told before: there is no reason for the bug tracker to even have a drop down field for XP if they'll never look into a reported bug IF the user is using XP because they don't officially support it.

avatar
saluk: File the bug for win7. Or don't. Perfectly fair to be done with galaxy if it's not going to be supported in the future for your OS, of course. But you are blowing up over a perceived sleight that didn't happen.
As I said above, I'll change to Win7 completely since my new PC I ordered a few days ago won't support XP anymore anyhow, so I might give Galaxy another chance if it's running MUCH better than it does now. However I will not file a support ticket again. If they care they have all the informations about the bug in my old report and now here in the thread. If they don't care then sometime soon they will receive a bug report by another user because the bug is reproducable and occurs every time. I for myself have just deleted the double entry out of the registry and can live with it. I like to help but if somebody don't want my help then there's no need for me to pursue this any further.
My Witcher 2 Install keeps trying to update then fail due to "disk access problem" I can play the game just fine but have it constantly trying to update and fail is a bit of a nuisance. Any ideas as to why its doing this? all my other games are fine.
Sorry for the dumb Q, but does the galaxy have a back up function or will you guys implement one?
Also if I download my game on my laptop, can I transfer it to my desktop without redownloading the whole thing over again? (this does work with Uplay, Origin and steam). I know DRM free is the answer but will gog galaxy recognize already installed games? For example you download the game at 1% (let it create some maps), then copy paste your 30gb Withcer 3 pre-load from your lappy to desktop, and will galaxy say ready to play/discovering installed files or something like that?

thanks

EDIT: I think I might have found me answer, though I couldn't find any back up function....(yet)

It hasn't but it is planned.

Galaxy is able to import installed games so it should be fine with this I'd guess.
I can't start the software after installation. Have tried every different exe. file, but nothing happens what-so-ever when I try to launch it. A loading "circle" at the mouse cursor appears for about 1 second, goes away and nothing more. The software doesn't appear in the Task manager meanwhile either, so it's not that it takes a long time to load or the software has frozen.

Now, since the client is optional there's no harm on my part, I just use the website as regular. But does anybody know if I can still download the old "gog downloader"? Can't find it.
I was just looking through the first 300 posts or so in the General Discussion thread list today to get a mental picture of the overall signal to noise ratio. I have come to the conclusion that when GOG rolls out that new forum code with moderation controls of some sort that have the result of raising or burying certain threads "below your giveashit threshold", the S/N ratio is probably going to skyrocket methinks. :)
