Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

BKGaming: This is a discussion for another thread, not the beta thread. This has been discussed to death om here... and a lot of us do not consider it DRM. GOG is the one that determines what is and isn't DRM Free, in there view online MP does not fall under that.
Well, that was just a post (albeit a long one) related to what was mentioned earlier, that is, whether Galaxy can be treated as DRM. Of course, this is a topic for another thread, but... I simply can't accept a statement such as "GOG is the one that determines what is and isn't DRM-free". That's plain wrong. If part of content (in this case, multiplayer) can be DRMed and the game still qualifies as DRM-free, would having a tutorial only DRM-free and the rest of the game DRMed also work? If not, why? It's same story, really - part of the game is available DRM-free, part is not. And the definition of "DRM-free" lies in its name - "without DRM". Not "with singleplayer available without DRM". If any DRM applies to any part of the software, it's no longer DRM-free.

We can discuss whether multiplayer DRM is fine (as in tolerable), or not - but pretending the game with it is DRM-free is a stretch. A far stretch.

It is not in GOG's power to "determine what is DRM-free and what isn't". That's like saying I have no right to complain to an apple seller for giving me an orange when I wanted an apple and claiming "well, he gets to determine what is apples and what isn't".

No it isn't. GOG advertises DRM Free... and the term "DRM" is not clearly defined so neither is DRM Free. GOG has in this case defined how they define DRM Free. Using your example an apple and a orange is clearly defined, there is no widespread disagreement on what an apple is or what an orange is. There is however a very very large widespread disagreement about what DRM is.

Until such time a universally accepted meaning is made or the issue is challenged (such as in a court of law, which even then wouldn't be a universally accepted meaning) the term DRM is not defined and means something different to every single person.

It's not a black or white issue... DRM is an ambiguous term hence not as clear cut as saying apple or oranges. A term being left open to interpretation means companies like GOG have a lot of liberty in how they use the term. If it was as clear cut as you like to believe, we would not be having this conversation.

But as I said this is an issue for another thread...

When I was downloading games through GOG Galaxy on my desktop computer, it would some times forget what games are already installed, which ends up with me downloading them again, thus consuming too much bandwidth. And then just recently, I discovered all the games I downloaded from GOG Galaxy have vanished from my folder! This may have something to do with my antivirus software confusing the files for malware, but this has left me frustrated and I don't know what I can do to work around this issue! Then again, it might be because the external hard drive I installed them on may be a bit faulty, but I don't have the money to buy a replacement at this time, as I'm saving for other things like my TAFE course as well as a console I already pre-ordered, which is coming late next week.

+1 to that. This particular topic of the definition of DRM has no place in the GALAXY BETA thread really, and has been discussed to death ad infinitum in the general forum for eons. Ultimately no amount of discussion by parties regardless of what their opinion on the issue is going to actually result in anything being accomplished as an end result insofar as the video game industry is concerned. There is one single way in which people who have an opinion about it can do something about it and that is to talk to the video game developers directly as they are the ones that ultimately make these decisions period. Furthermore even if GOG decided to suddenly agree with people who have the opinion posted by Taro above, and remove every single game that has online multiplayer from the store, it would pave the downward spiral towards their ultimate bankruptcy.

Ideology is great and all, but in this case it DRM. Doesn't Really Matter.

I could be wrong about this as I haven't actually tested it specifically but if I understand correctly, when Galaxy starts up it looks for the goggame*.info files in the game installation directories and if they have vanished for any reason at all (deleted, directory moved outside of Galaxy's awareness, disk disconnected, etc.) then I believe Galaxy considers the game to no longer be present and removes it from the list. If you reconnect a removable drive with installed games on it then I believe you'd have to re-import the game every single time you remove the drive.

If that is indeed how it is working, then perhaps in the future they could just grey out installed games and put a label "files missing" or something on top of them, then autodetect when the files are back online again and ungrey them. Of course the way Galaxy works currently, it would pretty much require a client restart to redetect the games. Hopefully some day GOG devs will discover Windows filesystem notification functionality and take advantage of it though. :)

Taro94: To be fair, I do think that Galaxy is DRM for SOME games, as it is required to access multiplayer.
(Snipped the rest of your post for length purposes. I did read it, though.)

Well, while others have said that this is not the place to talk about that (I agree), I still want to add my little something. :P

I think that the lack of LAN functionality should be blamed on the games, not on Galaxy itself. The Galaxy API is merely there to make developers’ lives easier and less expensive: some choose to use it exclusively and end up with a “Galaxy is required for multi‐player” situation; some others choose to create their own multi‐player system and end up with another option.

“Blame the message, not the messenger.”

ELFswe: @Devs;
Suggestion for GOG Galaxy.

How about if it could remember wich screen it was closed on when it starts?
I previously agreed with your suggestion however since then I discovered that in fact... Galaxy already has this feature. :)

Only kind of. ;)

I went to a forum thread in Galaxy (something I never do since a regular browser is better for the job, but that’s beside the point), closed Galaxy, and it re‐opened on the main store page since the community section is part of the “Store” drop‐down. Same thing with opening a random store page, it won’t remember which and will re‐open on the main one.

Indeed. As I said, I simply try to avoid games with multiplayer DRM on GOG and not make a fuss about it. I agree it's developers' fault and GOG is just trying to go for a satisfactory compromise. This doesn't excuse CD Projekt Red from excluding LAN and/or direct connect options in their multiplayer games, though.
I edited my previous post. Changed screen to display. :)

Ah. Might be worthwhile to add a wishlist entry for the full blown feature, and be very detailed and specific in the description including something like you have in the above paragraph, it'd be more of an enhancement than a new feature per se. Something probably not too difficult for them to throw in sometime down the line.

Yeah. I’ll leave the honour to someone else, though, as I don’t like creating petitions and stuff like that. Sorry. :P

Ah. That’s totally different, then. Even though I only have one screen, I can see how this would be annoying as I’m already annoyed when some windows don’t re‐open at the same place and with the same dimensions.
