== BUG REPORTING ==

Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

MarkoH01: O.K., I am now finally out. Support just told me that Galaxy does not support Windows XP and so they disregarded my bug report. I've tested for hours, destroyed some of my installations and wrote a bug report to get THAT reply? Hell, even Steam does support Win XP and several games still support Win XP. I hope you guys had fun with all the work you did on Galaxy but obviously you don't want me to be part of it. The optional client is so optional that you only can use it if you use a special OS - no thanks! Please kill me of your beta testing list and take the Client from my library which now also looks like shit but that is a different story. Oh boy, I was so in love with GOG but what you guys are doing at the moment - not funny at all! Bye Galaxy!
Are you kidding? You are using a 14 years old OS and are expecting modern software to work on it? Even Microsoft has dropped XP support. I must be falling for a troll.
Heya, small question:

Where does it save the downloaded game files before installing ? I just installed Pillars of Eternity with the client, and I can't seem to find the installation files. I know they aren't needed after it's installed and working, but I like keeping them incase I need to re-install, and I'd rather not download the whole thing over again.

I set the client to "Manage all folders manually", but the downloaded games don't appear at the folder I designated.
I'm currently getting 0.1mb/s downloading witcher 3.

Are the servers just swamped or is this a bug?

-edit- it just sped up again so I guess the former!

-edit2- or maybe not just stopped altogether...

Windows XP is no longer supported by Microsoft itself. It´s pointless to develop a new program for a dead OS.
I understand those of you who don´t want to leave it, but you don´t have any reason to complain about developers not considering it anymore.
Please include an exit option from the client itself rather than just close minimizes to tray then requires right click on tray icon to fully exit.

If the install path is changed for the client, game download / install directories should reflect those changes. I chose to install the client to H:\ which has ample space, the install set the download / install paths to my C:\ drive which has a limited amount of space.

Microsoft does not support WinXP anymore because they want to sell Win7, Win8 and Win10 so what does that mean? There are many people who are still using XP and GOG still mentions XP on their game pages. I say it again: even Steam and Origin and uplay do support Windows XP. It would be bad if they didn't because they want to SELL even to XP users! My god it is a browser and there is no need not to support Win XP. I am pretty sure that the bug report I send to them has mentioned a bug which would also appear on Win7 (which I also have like I said) but no way on earth will I spend one other minute testing for GOG to help them after they brushed me off this way. As I already said: Galaxy is over for me and since I never really liked it I have not a big problem with it. Luckily there is still the old way left and if they close this old way too then I'll say goodbye to GOG itself. Simple as that.

All that you mention was developed before XP was abandoned (if I´m not wrong). As much as you like xp you have to accept is dead. You can´t go to windows 98 and ask for every new stuff to work on it can you? The same will happen to 7, 8, 10 and 20...
Anyway galaxy is not mandatory to play your games and you have windows 7... I can´t see the issue.

The issue is simple. They never even mentioned that Galaxy is Win7 and up (and on a sidenote: if you sort your library it will still show if you select XP) only and I'd never thought of this because they want as many users as possible to use this. If I want to have buying customers and I know that quite a few of them are still using an old system (it is not dead just because M$ said so) I would make something that would appeal to as many customers as possible. It's simply something that is hard for me to understand. And regarding the old way (GOG downloader) I just found out that they made using the GOG downloader much less appealing with the new Galaxy like site style - so much for "optional" client. It still is "optional" but now it's more convenient.

It is true that Steam ect. were invented before Win7 but if XP is as dead as you and M$ says why do they all still work after several updates on XP? Why do they even care? Why does GOG still provide support for XP systems ist the OS is dead?

In the end Galaxy is over for me and I can live with that. But I cannot understand how a company which likes to aquire as many customers as possible and given the nature of this site (good OLD games) probaby still have several users witj an older OS can not at least TRY to support them as well. It's hard to imagine for me that a browser based system like Galaxy would work much different on XP. In fact it starts and it downloads and does everything it should. But my bug report was disregarded only because I am using XP ... in fact I think that it WILL work on XP and that the bug is even reproducable on Win7. They could have tried that but they haven't and I don't want to - not anymore. It's a priciple thing.

Ok I can respect that.
They can support games and programs that were developed/patched to work on XP, even if they are not forced to do it anymore. And that´s fine. But that doesn´t imply they must develop new stuff to work on XP, or support it if it works.
Maybe it´s not dead, more agonizing.. which translates well in this issue you are having. You should expect this kind of stuff when you go against current.
I don´t know what else to say.
1. Galaxy absolutely needs to have an option to NOT run automatically on startup. Between steam, origin, desura, and impulse there are too many of them to let them all run all the time. I manually run steam when I want to play a steam game/update. I should manually be able to do that with galaxy
2. Galaxy should let you download an installer for backup.
3. Galaxy needs some debugging

WindowsXP Is dead not because "microsoft said so", but because it really is dead.
In the april 2015 steam system survey 95.81% of users were running windows. Of those 3.29% of windows systems were WinXP

Is Galaxy using p2p protocol? My dorm sent me a warning for using it. Thanks for almost getting me banned from using internet.

Thank you for understanding my point and no, there is no need to say anything more. I know and I knew that nobody would help me and I did not expect that. I only wanted to say to GOG that I am out of Galaxy (funny to write this) and what the reason for this is. I have invested quite some time in testing this thing and the two lines regarding my bug report which read like "screw yourself stupid XP user" (sarcasm) felt a bit harsh for me for all the work I've done to help them optimize their client (which I never needed but they wanted to have it).

To tell you the truth I am pretty sure that Galaxy IS working on XP (because it does everything fine except for the game I wrote a bug report) but to say "hey, it does not support XP and that's why you have a problem" is probably much easier than to actually test the bug. They could have tested it on Win7 - I could test it on Win7. But at the moment I don't want to do much in Galaxy things. Maybe I will try it at amother time just for myself. But give me one simple reason why an import of Witcher 1 should lead to 2 installation entrys in the registry of WinXP and only one on Win7. The Win7 registry does not behave much different than the XP registry.

I still would like them to make the GOG downloader links again more appealing like they were before .... optional client .... O.K. - I'll shut up ;)

Thank you for listening odomi2. It is nice to discuss with someone who is still able to discuss without emotions even if he has a different opinion.

My pleasure :)
And that was what I meant: some things will work on xp some others won´t and nobody will be willing to fix them. But well I do that kind of things in other fields so... XD

I know they aren't needed after it's installed and working, but I like keeping them incase I need to re-install, and I'd rather not download the whole thing over again.

I set the client to "Manage all folders manually", but the downloaded games don't appear at the folder I designated.
I have the same problem, the downloader client has disappeared on my systems and all I see is install in both the old GOG and Galaxy. I liked d/l'ing the installers and install later later also I was in the middle of D/L'ing all my games that is in my catalog in the advent GOG disappears and now I do not know if that is possible.
