Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

Tyrrhia: Opening it with Sublime Text (the best text editor! <3) will render it completely readable and with a nice colour code. I don't really know a lot about CSS, yet, but I guess you'd have to tinker with the "font-size" elements (Sublime tells me there are 33 matches); I don't know which ones change what, though, so it would probably be mostly trial-and-error.
Yeah, I had to do some trial and error to increase the size of the side bar and download pane, and a few other things. I'd like to shrink the fonts on the sidebar and reduce line padding and increase them in the content area some time too. The Galaxy web design is more of a static design than a responsive design, and it doesn't scale well to high-res higher-dpi displays ATM unfortunately, but it's not terrible either. I just have OODLES of wasted whitespace and wish I could CTRL+mousewheel zoomie on it. :)

Steam client doesn't allow that either though, but you can skin Steam officially more easily than editing the Galaxy CSS files (although Steam's skinning is kind of a hack of its own) :)

what do you mean it doesnt work?

My guess is that they posted about a problem they were having with Galaxy 6 hours ago, and before anyone got to read their comment and possibly offer advice or assistance they got upset and an hour later edited the post and removed whatever was originally said and replaced it with what's showing there now.

Not much we can do to potentially help someone if they don't give enough information and have the patience to wait for someone to respond. Galaxy isn't for everyone I guess.
Just dropping this here since I thought it was interesting. It looks like Galaxy is borking Xenonauts.

Lebostein: In future it is possible to manage and download installers with Galaxy? It would be nice to set a "backup folder" and Galaxy stores the current installers in it...
avatar
JudasIscariot: You do have the "Backups & extras" option where you can download any installer for a given game. Is that what you were referring to or did you have something different in mind?
I wonder if you would consider adding an option to keep my backups updated automatically, where it would download anything new automatically.

Reading through the thread it appears that while people are rightfully upset their game is not working, that they are blindly blaming it purely on Galaxy being at fault with no clear evidence that that is the case having been demonstrated yet. Before that can be concluded, someone would need to produce a reproduceable test case showing that installing the game via Galaxy causes the problem always, however if you download the manual game installer and install it that way the problem doesn't exist. That may or may not be the actual case, but nobody has clearly communicated nor demonstrated it to be the case yet in that thread from what I can tell.

What it really needs is someone who is willing to test it to try to reproduce it who can do so completely devoid of emotion with the goal of trying to reproduce and confirm the bug exists, and try to help narrow down what the actual cause might be rather than jumping to conclusions with an inherent emotional need to cast blame on something specifically.

Whatever the cause might be, whether it is a bug introduced by the game developers, or by GOG somehow on their end, whether it is specific to Galaxy based installation or it happens for more people than that isn't clear but would be good to find out, and then once the details are known it can be addressed by GOG or the game developer or whatever/whoever is determined to be the cause of the problem.

I own this game and am going to install it via Galaxy right now to see if I can reproduce the issue or not. I will provide feedback later, but anyone experiencing the issue should provide as much details in the other thread as possible so that it is easier for others such as myself to try to reproduce it and potentially help contribute to narrowing the issue down in hopes someone can resolve it sooner. Focusing on finding solutions rather than casting blame that is.

Installing in T minus 5... 4... 3... 2... 1...

And that's why I posted here. So that someone else could verify the case in a totally scientific, unbiased and non-emotional way. :P

Post 3 indicates some testing was already done:
I finally "fixed" the issue by completly uninstalling the game, shut off Galaxy, download the usual GOG install files and installing the game as usually with the setup.exe
[...]
PS: And don't run Galaxy again after that, since it will autodetect Xenonauts has been installed and automatically will try to "update" it to the bugged version...
But yes, I agree that more testing wouldn't hurt. Unfortunately I don't own the game on Gog.

Let's just hope someone will come to save the day. :P

I've been able to confirm the problem now but not yet the underlying cause. Working on that.

Well, that's very nice of you, but I think identifying which files are being replaced by Galaxy and sending a list to Gog should be more than enough.

Most of the game assets are not encrypted (sprites are in plain .png format, unit data is in xml files, etc.) so I suppose you could make a backup of the old files and then compare them to the Galaxy version if you really wanted to, and maybe even identify the bug with enough time and effort (I suppose closing Galaxy and replacing the new files with the old ones one by one would work too) but this is really something Gog and Goldhawk are better suited to do.
The Galaxy installed version of Xenonauts 1.65 is indeed broken presently. I've filed a mantis bug report and a support ticket to get GOG folk on to fixing it. In the mean time use the standalone installer as it works fine.

Hey,

we have just released new version of Galaxy, 1.1.16. Most notably, we've added support for H.264 encoded videos (this should fix problems with YT videos not playing) and improved flow with paying using third party processors (like PayPal or paysafecard).

We're very sorry, but unfortunately we've encountered troubles with keeping Windows XP and Vista support for Galaxy and with this release, we must announce that Galaxy will no longer work on these systems. We want to keep moving forward and to offer you guys modern and best solutions available.

Any known issue with taht . I use Win10 and Firefox as Standard Browser but also Chrome installed and used. All in the newest version.

Cool, glad to see the video problem resolved for folks, but more importantly the payment problems people were having as that's even more important, both for users and for GOG's bank account. :)

It is sad to hear the news about XP and Vista support in Galaxy being dropped but it is an understandable eventuality that would have to come some day sooner or later. The sad part isn't so much that they'll no longer be supported though, but rather that we're going to hear endless whining for weeks/months to come from the forthcoming witch burners that have yet to read the announcement. I wouldn't worry about it too much though, Microsoft is probably working on a way to automatically force them to upgrade to Windows 12 overnight without any way of opting out of it anyway. :)
