== BUG REPORTING ==

Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

Johny.: We saw your posts and the community translations from the beginning and we appreciate your work. :)
Unfortunately I can't say if they will be used officially in any way or whether any other solutions will be developed.
Thanks for replying and no worries, I wasn't expecting Gog to officially endorse our localizations and I'm sure you have more important things to worry about.

It's just that at the moment the translations have no visibility at all, the OP is not an active user and I have no idea how to keep this project alive, so I was hoping you could put a link somewhere in the first post here, under the disclaimer that this is merely a community effort and you are not affiliated to it, of course.

If that's not possible, again, I understand. It just means that nobody will see the translations and the project will die, I suppose. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

What about creating a project on GitHub? That would let interested people submit patches and new files.

That's a good idea but my hands are kind of full at the moment. This is where 90% of my free time goes and I'd rather keep the remaining 10% to myself.

Also, how to put it... I'm not exactly what you'd call a Galaxy supporter. :P I just jumped in during a moment of boredom, but I have no interest in managing, organizing and advertising the project myself. Me posting here and providing future updates if/when needed is about as far as I'll ever go.

skeletonbow: Possible solution for forcing Galaxy to always maximize the window on startup:

I was digging around in the Windows registry for interesting Galaxy related things and found the following registry keys:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\GOG.com\Galaxy\settings\window.height
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\GOG.com\Galaxy\settings\window.width
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\GOG.com\Galaxy\settings\window.maximized

The width and height were set to strange values which I presume are defaults or whatever, but definitely not a size I've ever purposefully selected in any way shape or form. I always start the client then hit maximize and leave it that way personally but it NEVER remembers the state of the window on exit. I found a couple of generic Windows-side workarounds and posted them here before but they proved to not be reliable over time giving random results.

If you set the above keys to the width and height of your native monitor resolution, and set window.maximized to 1, then start up Galaxy it appears to take notice and start up maximized taking up the full screen like a normal maximized window now. If you do, make sure to change the entry box from hex to decimal when entering your width and height otherwise strange things will happen unless you normally think in hex. :)

I have restarted the client a dozen or more times now and it seems to maximize every time. This suggests that perhaps Galaxy is not saving the window dimensions to the registry upon exit if there are already entries there, however I can't confirm that for sure. At any rate I thought I should pass on the new tip to anyone else annoyed by the problem as it drives me nuts, but hopefully I've got a workaround for now at least.

Also, while perusing the registry I found metric crap tonnes of Galaxy configuration that looks like duplicate data, as well as all kinds of things starting with GOGSOMEGAMENAME in all caps which looks like a massive tonne of crap. I presume that half of this stuff is all ancient garbage left behind from previous versions of Galaxy and/or old GOG installers that moved things to a much more organized hierarchical structure later on but never cleaned up behind itself. Don't want to muck with any of it at the moment, but perhaps GOG could add a new GalaxyRegistryCleaner feature to clean up old turds left behind from past releases or something too. :)
This unfortunately doesn't work for me. I thought it might be because I have Galaxy set to minimize to the tray, but I turned that option off and it didn't make a difference.

window.height and window.width update and stick and it will accept those if I change the registry while Galaxy is closed, but window.maximized is changed to 0 when I start Galaxy. I can tell in the registry that the key gets updated immediately after I click the maximize button and I see that if I exit Galaxy while it is maximized, the key stays at 1, but as soon as I open Galaxy the window is not maximized and the value resets to 0.

It looks maximized because the window is the size of my screen, so that's great, but the window isn't technically maximized.

I had to blow away my Galaxy installation because it kept telling me there was a new update about 2-3 times a day, downloading the update and installing it (presumably), then restarting the client presumably into the newly installed version and seemingly working perfectly fine. In reality though, apparently the update must have failed with zero user visible errors or noticeable problems so I went on my merry way assuming that it worked - but then another update shows up some hours later over and over and over again.

Kind of irritating that GOG does not put the FULL Galaxy version including the build number into the title bar like Mozilla and dozens of other programs so that you can tell when an actual update was successful by looking at the version number. Rather than surfing the log files and wasting time, I figured I would just blow away the entire installation completely, delete the registry hives it left behind, delete file turds from the file system (not many there as it seems to clean up behind itself better nowadays but there were remnants of older installations still kicking around yet), and then reinstall the latest client from a fresh download. After install it updated so presumably I now have the elusive current version. :) The registry keys I mentioned previously were purposefully wiped out so I am starting completely afresh to the best of my knowledge and intention.

You may be right about the maximization state and window size bits, will have to test it out. Currently waiting for the client to take it's time validating all of my installed games upon which I'm going to tinker and see how the thing responds to saving the window state on exit. I'll post an update on that in a while. Fingers crossed. :)

Ok, it finished faster than expected. With the fresh clean installation of Galaxy client, maximizing the window and then exiting the program completely, waiting a few seconds to ensure all the background processes shut down, then restarting it results in it coming up in a tiny window and not maximized despite GOG's apparent claims otherwise. I'm starting to think that perhaps I need to change my language to Polish or something in order to have Galaxy maximize the window 24/7. :)

I've filed a fresh bug report in Mantis about the window maximization problem with a pristine fresh installation:

<span class="bold">Galaxy client does not reinstate the window maximization state upon startup.</span>

I would appreciate it if as many people as possible would maximize their Galaxy client and fully exit the program and start it back up and see if it restores the maximized window state or comes up in its default tiny window instead. If you too experience the window not getting the maximized state restored, please add a comment to my bug report indicating what operating system version you are using, whether it is 32 or 64bit, what version of Galaxy client you have installed (shown in the title bar, or more detailed version in the Galaxy log files), how many displays you have and what their resolution is along with any other relevant details that could help GOG to determine the breadth of the problem cases out there and troubleshoot whatever the common cause is and fix it.

Thanks in advance.
In future it is possible to manage and download installers with Galaxy? It would be nice to set a "backup folder" and Galaxy stores the current installers in it...

You do have the "Backups & extras" option where you can download any installer for a given game. Is that what you were referring to or did you have something different in mind?

Galaxy has had that option all along, at least downloading the various files for a given game and its bonus items piecemeal. If you are looking for something to download everything all at once en-masse however, someone wrote a nice python script called gogrepo.py which can do that standalone. There is a thread in the forums for gogrepo.py if you're interested just search for that. I haven't tried it yet but lots of people swear by it. Personally, I just download all my games and extras over time using Galaxy Backups & Extras as Judas suggested above.

Hope this helps.
I keep getting Installation failed: Configuration error every time I try to download a game. I have two hard drives the C: and an E: drive where I put all my games since the C: Drive isn't that big. I installed Gog Galaxy under a custom folder called E:Gog Galaxy. I also have Windows 10. Anyone else have this issue?
I really want to like GOG Galaxy, but with continued "oops a problem occurred" errors and its very slow download rate, I sadly cannot use it atm. I will keep trying it from time to time, good luck with what will be a great optional client in the future.

That sounds similar to a recent problem fixed in the new Galaxy release but for many folks it took an uninstall and complete reinstall of a freshly downloaded installer to fix the issue. I also blew away a bunch of files/dirs left behind from old Galaxy releases to be safe. It sounds like your setup is almost identical to mine in terms of where things are installed etc. although I'm on W7.
Just had a problem with the game Ceville - https://www.gog.com/forum/ceville/game_stuck_infinitely_loading_save_game

That is unlikely to have anything to do with Galaxy, however after I ALT-TAB'd out of the game to kill it with task manager, Galaxy client is totally fucked up. The main display is fragmented squares, only part of the Ceville page that was last shown is visible with the rest of it either blank or with flashing black squares. It's as if Galaxy client went into hibernation while the game was running and has no idea that the game is no longer running and wont refresh it's display. I exited Galaxy and repeated the whole thing a second time and it displays a big mess again the second time.

Checked all of the Galaxy logs and see no errors/warnings or anything seemingly relevant to any problems I'm seeing visibly. I tried to screenshot it but most of the corruption does not show up in the screenshot because it is not a static image but rather random flickering. I can reproduce this at will (3 times in a row so far with launching Ceville and killing it), and I encountered this same problem a while ago which I couldn't reproduce, but I'm curious if anyone else can reproduce it at all.

- Launch Galaxy
- Start Ceville
- ALT-TAB and open task manager + kill Ceville
- Look at the Galaxy client showing the Ceville page and it is a big mess of crap with flickering rectangles and huge missing rectangular chunks not being redrawn.

Moving the mouse around and randomly clicking where clickable UI elements should be will activate them and cause it to load new content (such as clicking where installed games should be on the left sidebar area not visible) upon which time the client redraws its entire window and seems to be ok again. The client does not seem to have crashed or have any other major problems, it just seems that it does not keep track of the state of window-focus perhaps so it doesn't bother redrawing its corrupted window contents when it has focus. That's my assessment anyway.

Anyone else?
Update on the Galaxy client window corruption issue I mentioned above. It appears this is not related to a game crashing or being ALT-TAB'd out of, but rather just starting and exiting Ceville causes this problem to show. When starting the game a brief message is shown that Windows has switched to the Windows Basic theme because the game is incompatible with Aero or whatever. So I believe the Galaxy problem might be related to that instead, although I don't know of another game specifically that causes this to trigger. Does anyone else know of a game or games off hand that trigger a Galaxy client corruption bug?

If I can gather enough actually useful data worthy of a bug report I'll go dump it into Mantis. Would be nice to know if others can reproduce this first though, otherwise it is just yet another bug that only one person has ever mentioned that might not get looked at with any priority.
