== BUG REPORTING ==

Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

This has not been resolved.
I must have misunderstood, my bad. You may wish to try contacting GOG support via the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of the page as they may be able to provide further assistance. If they put this on the FAQ then they probably have dealt with it a bunch of times and likely know more tricks of how to handle it likely so it's worth a shot. They may not respond until Monday though as it's the weekend so less folks around there on the weekends.

HTH
A while ago I noticed the support troubleshooting guide at:
https://www.gog.com/support/support_view/bgog_galaxy_troubleshooting_and_useful_informationb

lists some games that are considered incompatible with Galaxy near the end. Two of them stood out at me because they used to show up with "Not compatible" in red in my Galaxy library (The Bard's Tale, and Lords of the Realm CD Version), however I reported this in Mantis and nagged Judas about it and I believe that he investigated it and fixed the problem whatever it was. At any rate, not long after that the games showed up properly in my library and I was able to install both of them and launch and play them via Galaxy with no major issues.

The Bard's Tale has some weird flickering that occurs on the splash screen during loading that might be able to be fixed but it does not affect the game from running or working that I'm able to discern.

I have reported the 2 above games to GOG support indicating that they now work for some time and that they can probably remove them from being listed as not compatible on the support page.

I do not own any of the other games listed as "not compatible" or I would test them also or nag Judas or someone at GOG to have a look as well, as they may be mislabelled incompatible or may have previously not worked before but may work fine now. :) Someone who owns those games may want to follow up and do some beta testing etc. with them. The games in question are:

https://www.gog.com/support/support_view/bgog_galaxy_troubleshooting_and_useful_informationb#GAME%20IS%20NOT%20COMPATIBLE

WINDOWS:
F/A-18E Super Hornet
Simon the Sorcerer 3D
Sword of the Stars: The Pit
Atlantis 2: Beyond Atlantis
SiN Gold
Hearts of Iron III
Randal's Monday

MAC:
Avernum 4
Avernum 5
Avernum 6
Blades of Avernum
Randal's Monday
Generforge Pack

I also reported the "Geneforge" typo that sticks out. I own that game pack but don't own a Mac so no idea what the deal is there. Anyhow, thought I'd throw this out there in case anyone is bored and wants to test some stuff and give GOG feedback.
In the past few days I've noticed Galaxy indicate there is an update and offer to install it, I let it and it downloads, installs, restarts and all is well, but it keeps doing that like every 12 hours or so (not sure exact timing) and I'm starting to doubt tht it is getting updated that many times and more likely that the update is failing and just retrying 12 hours or more later and repeating itself.

I haven't looked in logs or filed a bug report or anything yet, just collecting data first to see if anyone else might be experiencing this as well. This is with the 1.1.15 client which otherwise seems to be working ok.
I still could not get the In-Game Overlay working for Witcher 3 in Galaxy.

I tried to disable the in-game overlay DLC for the game then re-enabling it again in the hope that it would fix it, but nothing. I don't get achievement notifications and I can't access the overlay by pressing Shift+Tab.

Not sure if it's a Galaxy-specific or game-specific issue, but I guess it has to do something with Galaxy since it's mainly a Galaxy feature (even if it's a standalon DLC for the game)

The overlay is quite experimental and very limited at the moment. Not sure what the current state of it is in the current public client beta with the current builds of The Witcher 3 as I don't have enough disk space free to giver a whirl currently. The overlay will eventually be replaced with something more robust that works with a much larger portion of the catalogue without requiring DLC though. I think the old one should still work, and it did a month or so ago when I tested it last, but both the game and client has gotten updates since then so not sure what the current state is of that.

I imagine the game specific overlay DLCs will go away in the future though.

Avogadro6: Ok, I'm not sure where to put this so let's try here.

A while ago user fernandojhr proposed to start a community project to localize Galaxy. Due to lack of interest the thread kind of slipped into oblivion, but we've got 3 languages done so far.

Spanish translation.
Italian translation.
Portuguese translation (although I imagine Gog has their own localization now?).

Any chance this could be mentioned in the OP or something?
So... has anyone from the staff read this? As far as I'm concerned it's totally fine if Gog can't or don't want to support user-made localizations, but could you at least let us know?

Dunno, but it might be a good idea to submit it through official channels than hope someone reads it here. An interested party may want to consider filing a feature request via Mantis bug tracker, or to directly contact GOG support about it as a means of opening up a direct communication channel.

They may already have their own plans with regards to localization that they're not yet ready to disclose perhaps also. Never hurts to ask mind you, but a more direct approach might be more likely to get an answer.
Galaxy don't show updates (blue dots). Update informations are only loaded if I update the game informations manually (clicking on the game button in the sidebar). To see which games are not up to date, I have to click every game inside Galaxy. Other problem: The available languages are not shown inside the game game informations. I see "English" only in most cases. If have to click 2 times in the sidebar (and wait some seconds) to update the game informations to see the correct languages. This informations are lost, If I close Galaxy.

For the update problem, instead of clicking on every installed game try clicking on "LIBRARY" at the top, waiting for it to load then clicking on it again a second time which forces a reload. That may or may not work.

Going to library won't have any impact on reading updates for installed games.
Galaxy Client reading updates info is done automatically in batches according to specific algorithm that won't kill your machine. :) The algorithm may be changed in the future (or button added), for now if you want to ensure that you have newest version of a game - go to game settings and change updates to manual (or back and forth if you already selected it)

We saw your posts and the community translations from the beginning and we appreciate your work. :)
Unfortunately I can't say if they will be used officially in any way or whether any other solutions will be developed.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't certain if it would have an effect for that particular case or not but I know when I am using Galaxy client and go to either the store or library pages that they are often pulled out of cache even if the master page has changed in some material way on the actual website, and that I often have to force the page to reload by loading it the same way twice in a row as there is no reload button or hot key. That usually causes the issue of stale data to go away so I figured it might work with the stale game update status also, assuming the info was loaded when the library was refreshed.

While we're on the topic of updates I've got a quick question. Galaxy's Settings pane has a "Game Auto-Updating" option shown which is checkmarked and greyed out, indicating that auto-updating is enabled by default and that you can not disable it at the present time. It is assumed that this is temporary and that GOG intends to expose the ability to turn auto-updates off as a global default and that it shows up there as a placeholder of things to come in the future. Is this still GOG's plan to allow us to disable auto-updates globally in a future release? If so, are you able to share any information about when it might become available, such as 1.2 or some timeline? Basically any information you're able to provide is appreciated, however if it hasn't yet been decided for sure or if a ballpark of when it might become available is not yet known or you're not comfortable to disclose it just yet, that is ok too. Just probing for any info you might be ok with letting us know for now.

Basically, I would really really like to turn auto-updates off by default. :)

(On a side note, I wonder if one could toggle the option by hand in one of Galaxy's .json files and have it actually accept the setting.... hrm.... ) :)

We are considering to do so.

Thanks, would really appreciate that for sure. I generally always want the most recent update for all of my games but just don't like them updating on their own without my knowledge and eating up bandwidth while I might be doing other things that need the bandwidth, etc. and it is nice that Galaxy offers the option to disable auto-update per game during installs but it is easy to forget it is there. :)

Yes! Exactly that is my problem. I have to check manually for updates. It seems the automatic notification service of Galaxy don't work correctly.

Possible solution for forcing Galaxy to always maximize the window on startup:

I was digging around in the Windows registry for interesting Galaxy related things and found the following registry keys:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\GOG.com\Galaxy\settings\window.height
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\GOG.com\Galaxy\settings\window.width
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\GOG.com\Galaxy\settings\window.maximized

The width and height were set to strange values which I presume are defaults or whatever, but definitely not a size I've ever purposefully selected in any way shape or form. I always start the client then hit maximize and leave it that way personally but it NEVER remembers the state of the window on exit. I found a couple of generic Windows-side workarounds and posted them here before but they proved to not be reliable over time giving random results.

If you set the above keys to the width and height of your native monitor resolution, and set window.maximized to 1, then start up Galaxy it appears to take notice and start up maximized taking up the full screen like a normal maximized window now. If you do, make sure to change the entry box from hex to decimal when entering your width and height otherwise strange things will happen unless you normally think in hex. :)

I have restarted the client a dozen or more times now and it seems to maximize every time. This suggests that perhaps Galaxy is not saving the window dimensions to the registry upon exit if there are already entries there, however I can't confirm that for sure. At any rate I thought I should pass on the new tip to anyone else annoyed by the problem as it drives me nuts, but hopefully I've got a workaround for now at least.

Also, while perusing the registry I found metric crap tonnes of Galaxy configuration that looks like duplicate data, as well as all kinds of things starting with GOGSOMEGAMENAME in all caps which looks like a massive tonne of crap. I presume that half of this stuff is all ancient garbage left behind from previous versions of Galaxy and/or old GOG installers that moved things to a much more organized hierarchical structure later on but never cleaned up behind itself. Don't want to muck with any of it at the moment, but perhaps GOG could add a new GalaxyRegistryCleaner feature to clean up old turds left behind from past releases or something too. :)
