Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

Yeah! This is also my question: Why games installed with the installer (*.exe on Windows or *.pkg on Mac OS) don't register themselves inside Galaxy? I install all my games via installer, because I backup the installer on an external drive. At the moment every game needs an manual import in Galaxy after installing with installer.

See my question directly above yours. All of the game installers did not get Galaxy support added to them yet, so for games that do not have Galaxy support files present we have to add them manually until GOG decides to update them. Hopefully they do it soon or give us an estimate as to when it might be though.

MarkoH01: I just saw WHY "Book of unwritten Tales" was downloading an additional 2,5 GB of data for me after I installed it via (actual) backup installer and imported it via Galaxy import function. This is a pure Galaxy bug. I have installed the German version of the backup installer and when starting Galaxy it redownloaded the ENGLISH version so to start the German version at all I would have to redownload it from Galaxy again.

Liosan: Sorry for this. This *generally* works - unfortunately, there are some pretty old game installers which don't include the required information. This is one such installer - it's from early 2014, from before the Galaxy project was started. With no information available, Galaxy defaults to English. We'll fix the installer for this game soon.

Great to hear this and thank you for the reply :)
Liosan: Is it technically possible for us to take some of the gog DLLs and other bits from a game that does have Galaxy support and doctor a script or something and run a command to cause a game to be registered with Galaxy? I suppose one could run one of the installers that works and debug it to figure out the magic sauce, but if it's something simple enough for someone skilled at development to be able to whip up a script or something, it'd be useful information to know to possibly be able to create a simple automated script or similar to hold some of us over until the packages all get updated on the GOG side of things.

I'm going to go snoop through the GOG files etc. and see if I can figure anything out, maybe fire off an installer and suspend it to examine the temporary files in the payload etc. for now and see what I can come up with. I really want badly to not have to manually import games if I can avoid it even if I have to binary edit .exe files to do so. :)

The .info file and a registry entry (HKLM\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\GOG.com\Games) should be all that you need. Remember that the WOW6432Node part of the registry key is only needed if you are using a 64-bit OS.

Oh sweet, thanks! That should be easy enough to do, just install and import each game once, copy the .info file Galaxy yanks from GOG's servers and dump the registry folder it imports, and write a nice little script to wrap it all up. I'm going to go try that with one game right now and see how I fare. Thanks again for the info!

Ok, I installed The 11th hour, imported it into Galaxy, grabbed the .info file and exported the registry hive for it, uninstalled it, reinstalled it, dropped the .info file in place and imported the registry key. Galaxy didn't notice, nor pick it up after a client restart so there's something more. I am guestimating that there is a command to run that informs Galaxy to rescan the registry for games or something. Perhaps a commandline option to the client itself. GalaxyClient --help /help /h etc. don't produce a usage screen of the secret sauce. I'm going to dump the text of the executable to try to find hidden undocumented commandline options with the GNU "strings" command (Cygwin) and see what I find now...
The game installers come with GameuxInstallHelper.dll which appears like it might be something that the installer uses to talk to the running Galaxy client.

Edit: nope, it's used to register games with Windows Vista and newer's Game Explorer. Back to the drawing board.

Bingo, I hit the jackpot:

GalaxyClient.exe /gameId=1207659000 /command=installed /path="E:\GOG Games\11th Hour"

That is what the setup_*.exe game installers invoke that inform the running Galaxy client that a game has just been installed. It does not appear to be necessary to pre-import registry keys, but you do appear to need the .info file. You just install the game, drop a backup copy of the .info file in the folder and run the command above.

I've tested this with a few games and it seems to work. Doing it manually doesn't really save time or effort though, so for it to be useful it is something that needs to be automated with a script. It'd be nice to figure out a way to automate grabbing the .info files from GOG if that is even possible, but if not then the only way I can think of to handle it is to either make a backup copy of the .info file for each game the first time you manually import it in Galaxy and then that backup could be used by an automated script in the future.

Another option would be to analyze the .info files to determine what the most important bits inside are that Galaxy client needs to know to validate the file and connect to GOG to update things. I know it does not have to be the most recent .info file for a game because Galaxy downloads a new one anyway, so if it is possible to figure out how to automate generating "dummy" .info files that contain only the bare minimum info for Galaxy to work, it will then happily download the full blown .info file and overwrite the dummy one once it is able to connect to the service.

Has anyone tried to reverse engineer the Galaxy communication protocol by chance yet?

Anyone else having issues with Galaxy taking a significantly long time showing available upgrades (aka DLC) on game pages or the install page taking forever to show when clicking install? It's even timing out on me sometimes and showing a generic server problem message.

Seems like Galaxy is taking a long time connecting to the server and retrieving that info... some optimizations seem to be needed.

Sounds like a backend server problem perhaps, might want to file it in mantis with your logs.
Is there a way to get access to extra downloads via the client without having to manually navigate through the folders via explorer?

No, but for some content that might be a nice future feature to have. Might be worth adding to the wishlist:

Yea mostly likely. I probably fill something out for it soon. Feels like those reports are mostly ignored though anymore. I think GOG has to many to shift through at this point. If I was them I'd clear it out when the next major version releases (starting to feel bit like a pipe dream at this point, but I'll keep the faith) and just start fresh.

---

Anyway, what I'm interested in testing right now is a Linux build. Though I got a feeling that games that currently have achievements and stuff are going to get screwed on Linux unless the devs have already included them even though Galaxy wasn't out (which is doubtful).
I constantly have an "update failed" amongst any updates or installs I have. But because it doesn't give a title I don't know which update is failing! It only appears amongst other updates, etc. It never appears on it's own when you click on the icon in the bottom left to see whats updating or how a download is doing.
