Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

========================================================================================

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

Temp directory were Galaxy games are stored during download. They are not installed here.

Joridculous: "Download extras to:" They end up here! wt?
Extra's end up in the !Downloads folder by default. The old standalone installers are considered extra's.

Installed games once completely downloaded are moved to the "Install games to:" location.

~~~
I'm pretty sure the issue is your doing wrong. Any game you install no matter if it's via Galaxy or via a standalone installer should be in the "Install games to:" location. The game folder NOT the standalone installer. Then you must import the folder if an older installer was used or use scan and import if it's a Galaxy compatible installer. Galaxy to does not manually install standalone installer games, you must run these FIRST manually.
Joridculous: "Import Folder!" is also quite useless. What is the point in *only* having the option for installed games? If you uninstall it, and you have the game files, Galaxy will still re-download everything if you later want to play(install) the game again.
Even Steam does this! And it also got a Backup function exactly for not having to re-download games.
avatar
hohiro: This option is not for installed games, this is for games in your library, which have files on the PC, Galaxy will just download what is missing, like updated Versions and so on, but not everything. And you don`t have to copy your Games in a Temp folder, just copy the game files in the directory, where the game should be installed. In Galaxy in your library click on More - Manage - Import Folders and it will be imported.
Games with newer installers will be found automatically, older ones have to be added manually.
And you don`t need a backup function, just copy the game folder somewhere and copy it back later and it will automatically be added again.
"Scan & Import Folders"
"Galaxy will scan and import existing games. Installations of older games may be detected, but can be added manually."
If it is *not* for importing games you already have (As that box say it is), what *is* it for then? The games i have in my library *already downloaded* want install without galaxy wants to re-download them.
NO they do *not*! It ends up exactly as i wrote above. I didnt write about Installed games.
Games i have in my library want install without re-downloading the whole shit again.
If i install with the Game installer (NOT galaxy because DUH), the game install. galaxy have NO IDEA it is installed. I then chose "import" and voila. GAME CORRUPTED! WTF that is supposed to mean.
So far this galaxy thing is just a useless pos taking up space and memory.
Joridculous: NO they do *not*! It ends up exactly as i wrote above. I didnt write about Installed games.
Your not talking about installed games but then go on to talk about installed games. Galaxy only imports installed games so I'm not sure what you mean or at least the folder for installed games (even if they are not technically installed).
avatar
Joridculous: If i install with the Game installer (NOT galaxy because DUH), the game install. galaxy have NO IDEA it is installed. I then chose "import" and voila. GAME CORRUPTED! WTF that is supposed to mean.
Look this isn't that complicated I imported my entire library before Galaxy even allowed importing back in alpha. I import games all the time. I regularly move games from Galaxy on one computer to another computer using Galaxy by just copying the game folder.
Point Galaxy to where your GOG games are installed using the "Install games to:" location (if your games are located at C:\GOG Games as is the default for standalone installers, then use that) THEN import, mostly likely using option 2. Go to library up top in Galaxy, find the game, click the more button -> import then point it directly to the game folder.
In your other post you said: "Its pretty annoying that galaxy cant be smart enough to see the files are identical! (even when you copy the files to galaxys download folder AND the "temp" download folder!)"
These two folder have nothing to do with importing standalone installer games really, though I guess you could use them, which is why I think the issue is your doing it wrong.
Galaxy might be able to tell if your import from multiple locations, without setting the "Install games to:" location or putting the folder in that location. I have no idea. But it's more safe and easier to keep all your games in one location and point Galaxy to that location, doing this I've not had a problem really. You can even copy the game folder over to this location then import.
Even with importing you will always have at least a small download.... and yes Galaxy can have issues importing, but it generally doesn't re-download the entire game. If your getting game corrupt issues, I've seen that happen a few times in the past but it's shouldn't happen with every game your importing.
If your not willing to at-least try to do what I'm telling you then I can't help you and neither can anyone else. Maybe if you attach an image of what your talking about we would have a better idea. Right now it just sounds like your don't understand the import function. Hohiro explained the same thing to you a few post back.
Liosan: snip
Galaxy still seems to have some issues with "scan and import" as the game sometimes are not queued to be checked against the server after being imported. Meaning I have to manually verify/repair to make sure everything is there and to make sure Galaxy registers it, assuming they are still supposed to be checked against the server on a fresh import still.
Unless this is no longer an issue?
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
As I know usually when ever I have imported in the past Galaxy want's to verify the folder. Defiantly seems overall less buggy now though.
TomaszGOG: For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5. Please install this windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226
You may need to update Windows (Like having service pack 1 in Win 7) for this update to be applicable.
This is silly. This problem is so multilayered and I don't know how I could possibly fix it at this point.
The DLL is missing, so I try to install the 2015 redist, the 2015 redist gets an error, so after searching up the error I need to update windows, so I go into windows update, but it won't update and gives me an error code 80070002, I check the help page for the error code, follow the instructions, and it doesn't fix it, it gives me a different error code, I look up that error code, there is nothing there for that specific error code, so I try the closest code and it gives me a troubleshooter to run, the troubleshooter says it fixed the 3 problems it found, run windows update, get code 80070002 again, try the help page for that code once more, nothing changes.
Why is the 2015 redistributable such a piece of fkn shit? I had an easier time installing gears of war on PC, and you need to manually change the year to 2009 or earlier just to get that to work.
Can someone please help me? i got gog galaxy thinking it would help my problems getting a bunch of things to run in crossover, but now none of the games I bought are showing up in the gog galaxy library. Nothing is there!! Please help.
Mato87: I have win 8.1 pro x64 but I have no idea what service pack I have installed, where do I search for it?
avatar
Liosan: Well 8.1 is the "service pack" I guess for Windows 8 :) We're investigating the problem on our side, maybe we'll be able to remove the requirement for api-ms-crt dlls. I can't really offer anything better right now :(
avatar
Paul31286: Was there an update today or yesterday? My client seems to have broken. Suddenly I always to click twice on a game in my library if I want to go to that game's page, and if I'm on a game's page, the areas "My activity", "Headlines" and "Description", which worked fine until now, don't show anything anymore and are just empty instead.
avatar
Liosan: Does restarting help?
Liosan
Even after several days, the issue is still the same. It seems my client is permanently broken. Is there some way to repair it? I've tried re-installing it, but the installer just tells me that Galaxy is already installed. And if I deleted and then re-installed it, I assume I'd have to import all of my games again, so that's not an option either.
By "Library," do you mean the "Library" link on the main window (which should show every game you own, same as clicking Account -> Library on the GOG website) or do you mean the menu on the left? The menu on the left needs you to add the games to it using the + button followed by Scan and Import Folders, or other means if that doesn't work.
Did you buy them on GoG or Steam ;) ? You only will see Games you bought on GoG. Crossplay does mean people with GoG Version can play with people using Steam Version and its just VERY FEW games.
Check your filters maybe? Click on "Library" and then select "All Games" and that should show you all the games you have on your account.
I have updated the pinned post to better address the problem with missing dlls, please try the following solution:
For Windows Vista and for Windows Server 2008: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/948465
If for some reason you can't install those updates and you meet the requirements, please check in programs and features, if you have them installed.
If you do, use the uninstall button and try installing them again.
If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.
Is there any way of changing games names under thumbnails in GOG Galaxy?
avatar
RottenRotz: Is there any way of changing games names under thumbnails in GOG Galaxy?
If you go to the game's folder, you can find a file called "goggame-########.info." Edit the "name" parameter in this file, and that should fix it when GOG loads!
