== BUG REPORTING ==

Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

Include a Back button for mouse. It's driving me nuts having no easy access back button!
I just added a new feature request to the Galaxy wishlist, to request that industry standardized keyboard accelerators (hot-keys) get added in a future Galaxy release for improved usability/ease of use. I searched the Galaxy wishlist for this first and did not find any previous requests of this nature. I intend that all standard hot-keys get added, but in particular the ones people are likely to use the most such as F5/CTRL-R for refresh/reload, ALT-ARROW for back/forward and other similar keys many people use regularly.

The lack of these features make it impossible to bind these functions to mouse buttons on programmable mice also, which probably is what the previous poster was hoping for.

Here is the wishlist entry for others who may wish to vote for this feature as well:

JAD2012: HI,

I've noticed that the GOG Galaxy client only detects that you are playing a game if you launch that game from the Galaxy library, not by using an external shortcut or a Steam shortcut. That means, that time played and achievements won't register properly...

Right now, Galaxy doesn't have screenshots support nor in-game interface, therefore, I want to use Steam for those things, but if Galaxy doesn't know that I'm playing, I lose the achievements function.

Is all of this correct or did I do something wrong?
avatar
skeletonbow: Achievements should still work fine, however you're right that Galaxy needs to start the game in order to keep track of game time. You could possibly in theory set it up so that Galaxy launches the game through Steam to get screenshots, or Steam launches the game through Galaxy, but I haven't had any luck with that.
I used to make that trick with Origin, (add it to Steam library and launch Origin from there) so that I would have Steam overlay within Origin games to make screenshots and chat, but it doesn't work with Galaxy :S
Could someone tell me when you unlock the 1st achievement for The Witcher 2? That way, I would be able to know if achievements still work.

Yeah, that's what I found too. I wasn't ever able to get Galaxy and Steam overlay to work together so I ended up just launching the game directly from Steam and avoiding Galaxy for The Witcher 3.

The downside was that Galaxy has no concept of how long I actually played the game for, but it probably wouldn't have kept track of it well anyway as I never have found it reliable for keeping track of game time to date. Also, no broadcasting to the world through Galaxy that I was playing The Witcher 3 for unhealthy amounts of time. :)

The upside was that The Witcher 3 itself tracks game time via the character screen so at least I know how long I logged even though there's no record on my account of it. Would be nice to see it ranked up near the top of my game list for play time though. Other upside is that I could take screenshots. It shocks me that many games do not include a built in screenshot feature these days since it takes like 3 lines of code to implement, literally. Other benefits were that I was able to stream my gameplay live to friends via Steam broadcasting, and to use the Steam overlay to bring up the web browser in-game for a few things rather than having to ALT-TAB out of the game. And of course the nice handy Steam FPS counter. To get some plugs in for GOG though, I always rename my Steam shortcuts for GOG games to "<game name> (GOG.com)".

Pirate_PL: Little feature request - Games in Library need a 'Go to Store page' button/option somewhere (like Steam has).
I have a bunch of games I've gotten for free here and thus I don't really remember what genre they are or what they're about. I'm looking at them and I don't even know if I want to play them or not. Would be nice to be able to easily go to the store page and read the description to refresh my memory.
avatar
skeletonbow: Yes, this! I can't tell how many times I am in my library view or on the game install/play view and want to go to the store card for the game to see system requirements or game writeup description, reviews, or some other related info that is on the store page. Right now you can't do it in one, two, or even 57 mouse clicks, you have to go to the Store->Browse Games then either navigate one page at a time until you find it or type it into the search field. Very non-user-friendly PITA! :)

I am guessing that the reason they do not have links from the games to the store page for a game, is because the games in-library are unbundled and they'd have to create a mapping from an unbundled game ID to the bundle it came from, however there may be games that there is no one to one mapping such as games with different variations like Pillars of Eternity that has 3 different editions, or games that come with and without the DLC, etc. Still, Steam manages to do this and it works so I'm sure GOG has the capacity to figure out something useful also. Worst case they can study Steam. :)
That's under the 'MORE' tab - click on it, and select 'STORE PAGE & REVIEWS' from the menu. Well, unless that option's not on Galaxy, and only on the website. :/

Don't know about removed games, though. I don't have any.

That's only if you want to install a game. If you have the game installed and click on it in your library side bar, it brings up the page that shows achievements etc. where you can hit Play to start a game, but unfortunately no Store Page option is anywhere to be found. You have to click on "Library" at the top of the main content area, then go find your game, or go to the Store itself and browse games then go find it. It would be much more intuitive and convenient to have it on the game page menu or by right clicking on the installed games and getting a context sensitive menu that includes it.
When I run galaxy client without internet the icons of the games are missing in the list and instead there is a loading animation. I am using the latest beta.

Anyone have the same issue?
I installed Witcher 3 a few months back, reinstalled windows but the game was on a separate SSD. Can run the game fine, but I tried to install the new DLC I bought "cannot find game". Ok no registry entry and the installer (for some very weird reason?) has no ability to point to the current folder where the game resides - unlike about 99% of modern game DLC out now. I then tried GOG galaxy and scanned for games by pointing it at the folder "no game found" - what? I imported folder to force it - "checking files" - yeah we determined 100% are there, re-downloading 31GB.

I finally gave up and just let it re-download.

EDIT: it appears it downloaded about 5GB, and I was on ver 1.11, and I had the 1.12 patch ready to go, and that definitely wasn't 5GB. Not sure what it downloaded tbh, so my feedback is to have it tell you "downloading missing game components" and then tell us how big of a download it is, instead of just saying 31GB. that lack of information may cause people to panic if they have metered connections (as we all will some day, praise be to COMCAST the evil one).

That seems to happen off and on for some people. I've had it happen a few times also over time. Right now it happens if I install Lords of the Realm CD edition, but only with that one game's icon that never shows up. Incidentally Galaxy has red text for the game stating "not yet supported" even though the game installs and runs fine although it loads behind Galaxy out of focus. Probably the lowest priority ever to bother fixing though I imagine as it's been like this forever.

For other problems of this nature, uninstalling the Galaxy client, then going into Program Files and deleting the Galaxy subdirectory completely, and also going into C:\ProgramData and blowing away the GOG Galaxy directory, then reinstalling the client again seems to fix the problem for some people, it did for me. Note that if you install your games under a dubdirectory of the client install directory, this will erase all of your games and any savegames or other data stored inside the game directories.

I'm confused by this. In Galaxy, you can click the down arrow for a game and select "STORE PAGE AND REVIEWS" to go to the Store page.

And a neat little trick, you can click your middle mouse button on it and open the page in your browser.

Now my complaint: If I start multiple downloads, if one needs to install something extra (DirectX, PhysX, etc.), the remaining downloads pause and wait. Did nobody assume we might not sit and watch the downloads?

Well, as they say... a picture says a thousand words. Screenshot 1 shows Galaxy with a game selected and the game's library page up for launching the game. No link to the store is present, thus requiring you to have to go elsewhere within Galaxy to find a link to the store for this game, and multiple mouse clicks to get there. It's not that it is not possible to get to the page, it is that it is not convenient or user friendly to get there with a single click for a common thing one will want to do.

Screenshot 2 shows how the similar screen in the Steam client does have a link to the store page, making the same operation much more friendly and easy, without requiring multiple clicks to get to the page.

@sekeletonbow Could you please answer my question? You seem to be around much helping the users :P Did achievements unlock for you while playing Witcher 3 when you launched the game from Steam?

I have a quick question that you all might be able to help me with
Does GOG Galaxy client make all games purchased on GOG able to play multiplayer like Steam?

Like Steam, it comes down to if a dev wants to implement it... so yes the potential is there for any game to include Galaxy multiplayer same as they do on Steam but doesn't mean every game will.
