== BUG REPORTING ==

Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

========================================================================================

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

Fallen_Zen: We'll look into that.
Could you create an issue on Mantis, list the names of games you're having problems with and attach Galaxy logs which you can find under /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs.

Thanks.
Mantis refuses to let me log in. It doesn't require a different password from the main GOG site/Galaxy, does it?
Not a major problem but confusing.
I have used GOG for quite a few years and I love it, the standard site displays and accepts my orders in Pounds Sterling (GBP £) and I am very happy, however when I am in Galaxy and got to the store it displays the prices (and Discounts - "fair price promise) it displays in US Dollars ($) with the correct dollar price and discount as per us pricing.
Not an issue as I will continue to purchase from the website but it would be useful to look at the store from galaxy with the correct pricing in pounds.
settings are set to show pounds and my operating system is windows 10 64 bit

RevReese: On loading Galaxy a few minutes ago, i discovered that one of my games (Arcanum), it's save files and in fact the whole folder, had been completely removed from my machine.

It still appeared in Add/Remove programs but on clicking uninstall, it simply said it had already been uninstalled.

Needless to say, I did not uninstall this game and in fact was playing it fairly recently without issue (other than a graphical issue early on which was resolved).

here is the relevant log entry:

2015-10-28 00:07:11:735 [galaxy_client][Warning]: LoadProductsTask failed to load minimanifest for game 1207658829 at D:\GOG\Arcanum; Game will be forgotten
2015-10-28 00:07:11:735 [galaxy_client][Information]: Product 1207658829 installation state changed from 'Installed' to 'Missing mini-manifest'
2015-10-28 00:07:11:735 [galaxy_client][Information]: Found 0 tasks for game '1207658829'

I am now concerned for my other games (and i have a fairly large library!)

if it matters, i was using the popular mod "Unofficial Arcanum Patch" with no problems whatsoever.

Thank you for your time
Because this software is unfinished and being developed and tested ongoing I would not recommend that anyone use it with the expectation that it will work properly and consistently unless you are fine with that when issues like the one here happen.

If you are fine with that I would highly recommend a frequent automated backup cycle be running with whatever your favorite software is for that purpose so that you can easily recover when Galaxy does something like delete your entire game, saves and all as you report here.

Even release software has issues. Anything in development and testing cannot be trusted at all. So my advice would be to make your choice of whether to use this or not accordingly and to be absolutely sure you are running backup software if you do use it unless you do not care about losing data.

I hope that's helpful.

You should have been clearly informed of this before downloading Galaxy to try it but I am sure you were not unless you happened to come read this thread before you did that. It is because of this I posted my little diatribe above on this page.

When I try to install a game , I get the eternal, never ending revolving circle.

I am beginning to wonder if the problem is not that GOG simply does not have enough server capacity to handle the increased traffic.

BTW the old GOG downloader is not working either;it shows the game I added but then is paused..forever.

Download using my browser seems to work OK.

This sounds a bit like a problem I had a few weeks ago. In my case, it happened because GOG had actually removed (upgraded) the installer while I was downloading it. What are the odds, right?

GOG Downloader started working again after I cancelled the download (right-click the icon). You will lose your download progress but I couldn't find any other way out. If that fails, you may want to delete the Downloader's application data and manually delete downloaded data as well. On Windows, the AppData is in Users/[name]/AppData/Local/GOG.com, while the downloaded data is in My Documents/GOG.com Downloads.

As for Galaxy, in my case it eventually suffered some sort of failure and restarted the download, so I can't give you any direct advice. Maybe you can force it by cancelling that too?

Running the verify/integrity check on Witcher 3 breaks x360ce by deleting one of its files in bin/x64. This is strange because it leaves other files and mods unaffected.

Seems like your machine is blocking both Galaxy and the Downloader (antivirus or firewall blocking our endpoints?). Can you take a look at the logs or create a ticket on Mantis?

dirtyharry50: I don't care what Steam was. Whatever Valve did in the past is not related to my comment about what GOG is doing right now.

For what it's worth, you may recall Steam began its life simply as a multiplayer client for Valve games more than anything else and slowly evolved into a store over a long period of time. You are comparing Apples to Oranges when you compare how Steam came about and how GOG released a client not even close to being feature complete and called that a beta however many months ago and this is a client aiming to be a competitor of sorts to Steam out of the door from the start. Those are two very different scenarios.

Anyway, I am not at all critical of the developers who I know are working hard to make this and do a nice job of it. I am just critical of GOG's management for how they have handled the release of this, the earlier site disruption and the basic motivation being to tie into the release of The Witcher 3 far before this thing was ready for primetime which was both unfair to the developers tasked with trying to do the impossible schedule-wise and GOG's customer base who have in various ways been inconvenienced by all of this.

I have seen in this thread how very often users have misunderstood through no fault of their own just how rough this thing is and wasted a lot of their time encountering various bugs in something they I am sure believed was pretty nearly done. This is still nowhere near done. I don't call that a beta personally and I come from a development background that including shipping retail software.

That's just my opinion and it does not mean I hate GOG or don't want to shop here, etc. but I consider it a legitimate criticism and I don't care if the fanboy legion gets pissed off at me for daring to say the emperor has no frigging clothes when it is true. Sorry.
avatar
Yeshu: No one is forcing you to use it.

Also, you seam to have a really "modern" view of what a beta is.
Does Galaxy have it's problems? Sure, but I'm not forced to use it and it is still in beta so bugs are something to be expected.

Also GoG has a much smaller team compared Valve so a little patience is in order.
There is a difference of course. GoG is actively trying to market Galaxy, no matter how 'broken' it currently is. A quick glance on the homepage shows on a nice purple banner - "try Galaxy, offers multiplayer, achievements, chat, game-time tracking, etc.). So it may be in beta, but that's not stopping GoG from trying to get as many as it can to use Galaxy no matter what it's 'state' is.

BOBMILNE: Problem solved thanks
You're welcome. Happy shopping! ; )
I had the problem with installing GOG Galaxy. If anybody have the same problem: when you open downloaded file of GOG Galaxy installation doesn't start but starts another downloading of GOG Galaxy. Vicious circle.

The solution I've found is (Windows 10):
1. Download GOG Galaxy. In my case it was .partial file (don't know why).
2. Find the file in downloads directory and rename it. The file should ends only at '.exe' (delete 'isc1ixm.partial' or something like this). Agree with changing the file type, it will become a simple .exe file with GOG picture.
3. Run the file with administrator. Install, restart, update, enjoy.

I am usually on the ball when it comes to backing up, but for some reason, I never got around to backing up that game (typical that was the one to be deleted ha!).
Needless to say, I will be backing up my saves more frequently from now on!.
I have had no other issues with Galaxy since I started using it other than it not picking up some installed games (which i worked around by simply telling Galaxy where they were and reinstalling/discovering them).
