Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:

You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

HK_47: Am I just doing something wrong, or does Galaxy still not recognize existing installers in the game downloads folder like GOG Downloader does? I just tried it for Trails in the Sky, and Galaxy is still trying to download the whole installer instead of doing a check on the existing file.

toxicTom: Standalone installers and Galaxy are two different things. You can install the game from the installer however, and then import the installed game folder into Galaxy. In this case Galaxy shouldn't download the whole game again.
My experience has been that anything I have installed locally with an installer and then imported into Galaxy has resulted in Galaxy redownloading the entire game and installing it as if the existing installation I tried to import did not exist at all.

I had removed the Galaxy beta some time back as I decided to wait for a more complete and fixed up version before trying to use it again. This past week I installed it again and when I did a scan it recognized 4 games I think it was that I'd installed/imported when it was on the system before. In the interim while Galaxy was not present on my system at all, I installed another 25 GOG titles from installers. Every one of these games had to be manually imported and every single one of them was downloaded in full and installed again over the existing copy I already had installed here.

I could venture a guess as to the reason for this behavior but since I don't have access to Galaxy's source code nor the inclination to review it even if I did, I'll refrain from guessing because that is all it would be, guessing.

The fact is, I have seen firsthand that Galaxy does not import anything but rather downloads and installs on top of games it is supposedly importing. I just saw it do this some 25 times. I am not making this up. This happened here. I already have my entire library of nearly 300 titles backed up redundantly locally. So naturally, I prefer to use those installers and would expect Galaxy to recognize a GOG installed game. It doesn't.

The store page for every game lists the operating systems that are supported, just visit the store page for the specific game you're curious about and peruse the system requirements. In addition, an announcement was made a month or so ago when Windows 10 came out that most games work in Windows 10 and are supported. Games that do not list Windows 10 support either do not work at all or they have problems on Windows 10 serious enough that they are unable to claim support for them yet. Over time, more games are likely to get updates to make them run in Windows 10 also, but in some cases it is likely to be up to the game publisher to update their game to be compatible if necessary.

The game store page for each game is the place to go though to know if a specific game is supported on Windows 10.
Make the icon for managing downloads, updates, queue order etc. bigger/more prominent. It took me months to notice it! Also, why are there 2 different Settings screens accessed from 2 completely different areas? Can't they be merged in to a tabbed interface?

Some time ago I deleted Galaxy as noted in a recent post above due to various bugs I didn't bother making mention of just then as they were already reported.

I find a particularly nasty issue still rears its ugly head although i understand it slightly better now. The problem is as follows on Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 (the latest in other words):

I import a game using Galaxy that was already installed with a GOG installer I'd downloaded in the past. Galaxy does not actually import the game but rather downloads it all over again and overwrites it with a new installation. I have already mentioned this but just to be clear here it bears mentioning again.

Now, here is the problem of the day that was the problem before. When I try to start that game from its icon in Launchpad, one of two things happens. Either I immediately get an error dialog from OS X informing me that the game is damaged and offering to move it to the trash or I get a progress bar with the Gatekeeper icon as the app is verified. This is followed by the same dialog as before informing me the app is damaged and offering to trash it.

Now, last time around I believed this and trashed the apps, gave up on Galaxy and trashed it too. It never dawned on me then to try firing them up in Galaxy itself as a test following these error messages. Well, this time it did occur to me that I might try that just to see what happens. Guess what? They start right up.

The question of course is, what the heck is up with that? There is one and only one copy of the game on the hard disk in the standard place it belongs, where Galaxy installs it and where the installer before that installed it. That place is the Applications folder not to be confused with the user applications folder. So, in the system apps folder where the game belongs, it does exist but it cannot be launched from Launchpad in the normal way. Further, going directly to the app via the Finder and double clicking the app to start it does not work either. In both cases I get the errors noted above.

So, the net result of "importing" a large number of existing GOG game installations into Galaxy is that all of them now require Galaxy to run. So much for the client being optional. I do not personally see this as a big deal because assuming the client works ok I'd rather use it anyway. Ideally though, it would be nice if clicking the icon in Launchpad and even in Finder double clicking it would just fire up Galaxy and load the game. This is the way Steam installations work and is accomplished by installing aliases that load steam and then the game by its Steam game identification number. Of course, the issue there is that is not the behavior everyone will want. Some would prefer to just use Galaxy as a downloader and the start the games independent of it after that. That is actually the behavior I'd expect since GOG has not setup aliases the way Steam does to start its client and then the game by the game's steam id.

I don't know what the answer is for the OS X version to provide user choice but as I understood there is supposed to be user choice. I'm not seeing it but then this pertains to games that were supposedly imported even though they are not imported, they are reinstalled on top of an existing installation which I presume is a bug but I've already reported that one.

For my own purposes, I guess I'll just fire up Galaxy when I want to play a GOG game and good enough but this should be fixed as it isn't going to be satisfactory to people wanting to just use Galaxy to download only which again, last I knew was supposed to be possible without any hassle. Has that changed?

As far as I am aware, the behavior Mac users should expect when installing games via Galaxy is not documented or explained anywhere. What is the behavior supposed to be? In other words, when I launch a game via OS X's Launchpad or by navigating with the Finder to the Applications folder and double clicking it, what is supposed to happen? I am very sure the errors I am seeing are not supposed to happen and since I am not seeing aliases but rather just the executable app, I assume I am supposed to be seeing the game launch directly without Galaxy. As for starting them within Galaxy, the games are starting up fine there. For what it's worth, I tested games setup by GOG with Boxer, Wineskin and native games such as Torchlight. All failed to start directly as noted above, all started right up just fine in Galaxy.

Penny for a developer's thoughts on this one.

Oh, just one last thing before anyone questions it as a possible issue. Running a test of my hard disk using Apple's disk utility reveals zero issues. Also noteworthy is the fact that I have never seen an app throw this error except for these GOG games. I have zero problems with this system running anything on it except for these particular apps and I have a ton of stuff on here i use regularly. I also play games from Steam and elsewhere and they all run without issue. There is clearly something wrong with these installations somehow for OS X to be throwing errors like this when I try to start them directly.

I forgot one other very important bit of information. These games ran just fine from the Launchpad or Finder prior to me reinstalling Galaxy and "importing" them.

Probably there's a problem with certificate of the game's bundle after update through Galaxy, that's why the system thinks the game is damaged. Could you tell with which games have you had the above mentioned problem? Please provide titles and version numbers of the offline installers you were using. We'll investigate.
I updated to the latest version 1.1.2 and it doesn't work at all anymore. The title bar is normal, but the whole window is nothing but white, and it constantly makes my CPU do... something at about 25% capacity and my cursor is constantly blinking between normal and busy cursor even while the window is not in view. I'm on the latest Windows 10 update with the latest drivers on everything and administrator authority. I have tried running it as admin, restarting the computer, uninstalling and reinstalling it, adding the folder and individual applications to exceptions list in Windows Defender and even turning off Windows Defender. It still does it. I also tried just waiting it out to see if it had to work through something, but even hours later it was still doing it.

I just had a reason to submit a bug to mantis.gog.com. When I attempted to use an SSL connection after logging in (eg. https://mantis.gog.com) I discovered that no encrypted connection was available.

There should really be an encrypted connection available so traffic isn't transmitted in the clear. I would even argue that unencrypted access shouldn't be available. Since mantis.gog.com seems to require a valid gog login, encrypting traffic would at least limit visibility of transmitted information to users with accounts, rather than anyone who can sniff traffic in transit.

When reporting bugs, particularly when uploading Galaxy logs, user-specific information and possibly sensitive details about their computer systems, games installed etc can be included. The need for security is thus greater than in, say, the public forums where people are chatting about their games, exchanging hints etc. The logs don't contain anything really sensitive right now, but that could change in the future as the Galaxy client is updated or someone provides more details as they are isolating the cause of a bug.

Why not be secure by default rather than implementing security later in response to a security issue?

Thank you for the reply. It's okay. I expect problems in software that isn't finished yet. I installed it understanding the risk involved which is not a big deal. It isn't like I cannot reverse the process with my Time Machine backups of everything if I wanted to.

This is going to take a bit as I have 29 GOG games installed. I will try each one out outside of Galaxy and note the result, check what installer I have locally and create a list with the info to post here. I'll also verify each one does in fact run in Galaxy but I am expecting from what I have seen thus far that they all will. I will report back when I have this information. Considering I have seen the error with every game I have tried so far, I have a feeling they are all going to have the issue but we'll see.

Recently, both Galaxy AND the Downloader have outright stopped downloading for me? It just perpetually says 0 B/s (Downloader) or 0.0 MB/s (Galaxy). I can still download installers manually but that's no good for huge downloads like The Witcher. Any advice?

EDIT: I just confirmed it's NOT my ISP, another computer is able to work. So it must be this computer. What happened, do you think?

I think this happens on Windows too. With Galaxy 1.1.2 I tried importing IL-2 Sturmovik™: 1946 and Galaxy almost immediately starting downloading over 7GB. Basically the entire game. I tried to import it and I also went to library and clicked install. In either of those cases Galaxy is suppose to check for local files before downloading if the game folder is in your Galaxy install location, but it appears Galaxy failed to do so and instead started to download the entire game again. I even grabbed the Galaxy compatible folder (since the original was installed via standalone installer) that had the game exactly as Galaxy has it set up from another computer, and Galaxy still ignored the folder and started to download the game again.

Several other games did the same when I tried importing.

For me right now the importing/patching system is Galaxy's biggest downfall. There is no reason Galaxy should ever download files that are already on the system in the game folder, only modified or changed files. If we add in that Galaxy still lacks file compression, it fails at the one thing it was meant to do. Be better than the standalone installers. Right now it's rather wasteful when it comes to bandwidth, and for those on slow or metered connections Galaxy is not very good for them.

I'm posting here because there's no way to contact any Gog staff as my bug ticket was closed and thus made read only...

@Liosan
a) You probably wanted to close the ticket as "won't fix" rather than "fixed". The bug is that you can't start Galaxy using the RunAs service on Windows XP to run it as an admin user - you still can't, and as you state, you won't fix this, ergo, it's not "fixed". Anyone finding the ticket later in a search is going to be quite confused unless they read the full details of the ticket.

b) I think you misunderstood me - I'm not trying to run it as a non-admin user - I know that won't work. What should work though is using the RunAs feature to impersonate an admin user. Galaxy is the only bit of software that seems to have issue with this, and given how basic it is, I've no idea what on earth Gog are doing that makes it break on startup.

c) On a side-note: Giving us a list of permissions it requires would at least let people set them up to make it work as a non-admin - explicitly checking for admin rights is very poor form akin to the old classic "This site requires Internet Explorer!" (remember those days? - shudder). I can play pretty much any old Windows-based games by simply giving my user write access to the registry keys and directories they use.

I get that XP isn't really supported, I really do - but I'm a software dev myself, and I deliberately go out of my way to test esoteric use cases (make sure paths with spaces in them work!, make sure redirected user profile folders work!, etc.) as it makes the software more robust in the smaller subset of supported use cases...I keep an XP install around precisely for playing old games in a more native environment. If your code is failing because it can't get an explorer token, what exactly happens when a user uses a non-explorer shell?

Incidentally, the same bug prevents it starting up when connected via Remote Desktop, because the code seemingly sloppily assumes the logged in user is both on the console and is an admin. So I can't even run Galaxy by logging on to my machine via remote Desktop as an admin user...all because of this bug :(
