== BUG REPORTING ==

Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

cimerians: I posted a thread in General Discussion but the client wiped out my games folder this morning. All the folders and files are gone (not even in the recycle bin).

Beside myself in anger and grief at the moment.
Yeah, we discussed this in separate topic - since your post I've did some tests and came up with steps to reproduce it (http://www.gog.com/forum/general/gog_galaxy_has_just_deleted_my_entire_games_folder/post89). Apologies for such bad experience.

For everyone else to understand the context of the problem better: if you manually import existing game installation to Galaxy, make sure to select the right folder with game installation (C:\Games\Ultima 5) and not parent folder with all your games (C:\Games). While this alone shouldn't cause problems except for a huge mess of files appearing in C:\Games, when uninstalling please DO NOT select the option to "Also remove my save games and any user data" as this will wipe the entire C:\Games.

FYI, doing this:

cd /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/redists
ln -sf GalaxyUpdater.app/Contents/Frameworks/lib*.dylib .

Gets GalaxyCommunication running again, which lets the 1.1 update apply. After that, I get the afaik already-known segfault in GalaxyUpdater, but at least it's after the 1.1 update successfully applied. And then I get the usual failures to update/install, I'm digging into that next.

I did run into another SIGABRT failure with the galaxy client as well, but restarting it seemed to get past that, I'm guessing that's intermittent.
It's similar here. GalaxyCommunication just cannot start, it dies immediately. In the system log I see stuff like:

2015-08-30 22:55:08,000 kernel[0]: proc 48643: load code signature error 2 for file "GalaxyCommunication"

jamesbuc: Im finding it a little annoying with some of the 'extra' games that are with some titles, not appearing anywhere within the Galaxy Client itself (Like Broken Sword classic titles, Jack in the Dark in the Alone in the Dark pack)
The Alone in the Dark games have their own box now and download links and they're no longer treated as extras like they were a while back.

As for Jack in the Dark, you *should* have a separate Start menu entry for that game if you install AITD 1, if I am not mistaken :)
I uninstalled galaxy using the .exe inside the program folder, and reinstalled later, but noticed that the uninstall did not remove the galaxy folder in ../programdata/gog.com. How can i safely remove that folder if i decide not to keep galaxy installed (I dont see a reason why that folder remains there after uninstalling).

Can this be done with the first two Broken Sword games? Because it's one of the few case where the original is superior to the remaster.

Well, those aren't the remastered versions of the games so we offer them as a bonus to the remastered ones as we are selling the remastered game, not the originals. The first three AITD games were simply reworked as to how were selling them :)

Known issue, we're working on it. Thanks for posting :)
I'm having a strange issue with Galaxy, it frequently crashes my internet connection when I try to download something with it. It messes things so bad that I have to turnoff my router and turn it back on in order to get my connection back. And it only happens with Galaxy, downloading games with Steam or any other client doesn't cause any issues of that kind.

(my router is a Linksys WRT54G V2.2, updated with the last official firmware)

Edit: to be more specific about my issue, I've just installed FTL Advanced Edition successfully without a problem, but whenever I try to update Satellite Reign my internet connection goes down (and so does my router).

As a bonus :)
Where I can set, in which language version the game should be installed?

Lebostein: Where I can set, in which language version the game should be installed?
In version 1.0.x you can do it inside the MORE -> CONFIGURE menu after installation. Starting from Update 1.1 you will be able do it already before the installation for each and every title that supports separate installers per language (keep in mind that majority of games have multiple languages built in and there is no difference in terms of install - you just select the language in game).

As for the 1.1, either check the sticky on top on how to get onto preview version of 1.1 already or just give it a week or two until 1.1 is available to all :)

Thanks for the 1.1 hint.

But it seems 1.1 has language problems with some games. For example Shadowgate. For the german and other languages there are extra installers:

shadowgate_2.2.0.8.dmg
shadowgate_french_2.3.0.10.dmg
shadowgate_german_2.2.0.8.dmg
shadowgate_italian_2.2.0.8.dmg
...
But if you try to download the game with Galaxy it says, there are 5 languages "in game". But this is not true! Shadowgate don't allow to change the language inside the game. So it is impossible to install the german version of Shadowgate with Galaxy. I get the english version only.

Other thing: On Mac OS X the downloaded files, folders and app-directories with Galaxy get the date of download. But this is not nice because it is impossible to see how old is a game or a file really. Why the downloaded files don't get the original creation date (= the same date I get with the installer) after download process?

Destro: We will look into it. I don't want to take a stab in the dark here but generally speaking standalone installers and Client installations aren't necessarily always identical in terms of file structure. In most cases they are but exceptions occur and TW3 is a really specific beast that we support installed from both website, Client and retail disk from dozens of countries (they were all different SKUs)... Was Client in reality downloading 7.5GB or have you just aborted the moment this showed this value?

This is a debatable issue really. We had it working the way as you suggest during the alpha and many users complained too :). Anyway, there is an option for that in settings of GOG Galaxy 1.1.
I have to agree with you on that. The majority of programs that are designed intentionally to run as a background task with a systray icon will minimize to tray by default, and many of them also include an option to make them exit on close too but most default to minimize so this is quite standard behaviour. There will be people who want close to exit the application and there will be people who want close to minimize the application and of the two groups there will be some who want each to be the default and some who don't care what the default is as long as they can configure it to be the way they want. In a situation where there can be only one default - A or B, one must be chosen and the people who prefer the opposite will be some degree of unhappy about that, but that's life.

Since the majority of apps designed to be ran in the background by default work like this, I think it is reasonable for GOG Galaxy to do the same, and as long as the option exists to change the default behaviour and it works, everyone can have it configured the way they want it to be even though everyone can't have it default to the way they want out of the box because everyone does not want the same thing.

I had to deal with issues like this as a developer in the past also. In my experience, no matter what option was taken whether it was one out of 2, one out of 3, one out of 4 or some other one out of N situation to configure a default behaviour in an application, the fact there was an option indicated on its own that different people wanted different things, but only one thing can be the default so you're going into it knowing everyone is not going to get what they want by default. So I found that when deciding to make something optional at all, I had to gauge what was best for the majority of users in the target userbase, pick that as the common default and not look back. Additionally, if the userbase was a mixture of technically savvy users and inexperienced users, I would choose defaults that were considered the best for the less skilled users under the premise that skilled users are more proficient at looking for configuration options and reconfiguring an application to meet their needs than inexperienced users who probably wouldn't know such an option existed or where to look for it.

Also, whenever I did consider changing an application default for someone, as soon as the change was made, invariably someone would file a bug report complaining the default changed and want it changed back and 100 users would "me too" it, putting me in the position of no matter what the default was - having hundreds of users filing bug reports asking for it to be changed, demanding it be changed, telling me/my company/etc. how stupid we were for changing it, etc. :) After so many of those type of bug reports one gets numb to the problem, picks defaults and sticks to them unless there are truly compelling reasons to change it which don't include being insulted or guilt tripped into doing it. :)

So I'm happy to say thank you for making anything optional in the client that you choose to make optional even if the default is not my personal preference. I appreciate having options and being able to change those to something I prefer over not having them at all, and I respect that an option can only have one default and not everyone is going to like it! :)
