== BUG REPORTING ==

Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

========================================================================================

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

wlodar_gog: as you can see on the public wishlist here -http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy/add_friends_via_username_or_email_address, we're working on it hard, please wait for a next version of gog galaxy (will be soon, without ETA yet )
avatar
Starmaker: While you're implementing this, please be aware of potential privacy/security issues:

- Sending an invite by indicating an email address might reveal whether said email address has an attached GOG account (and in the absence of a captcha test can be used by hackers to check a harvested email list against GOG's database)
- Sending an invite TO an email address (legit use case: the friend I'm inviting doesn't have a GOG account yet) can be used for spamming
- Invites shouldn't be sent through the block list (when it's implemented) but should be declinable through the block list (to prevent a malicious user from sending an invite and leaving the victim with a bunch of permanent unclearable alerts)
- Invites should make use of the anti-spam system (if any).
Fully agree, I'd rather stick with account name than e-mail address. Also getting rid of e-mail when sending a gift would be neat.

It is working as intended ;)

I already mentioned it in this post:

http://www.gog.com/forum/general/gog_galaxy_beta_2/post2390

So it is not really cache, but rather verification.

Example: galaxy_xenonauts_2.2.0.12.exe 1.217 KB
versus setup_xenonauts_2.2.0.12.exe 33.282 KB
You find those files in C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\webcache

S you would need to copy those files over as well ;)

Otherwise it will detect a mismatch and redownload.
avatar
SNaKeYGR: I still get the grey window in galaxy.
Have tried every solution i could find on the web and also uptaded and after not getting it fixed to un/reinstall at least 3 times new client versions when they were released.
Only way i can run Galaxy without problem is still running it under compatibilty Win XP ( SP3 ).
Im running Win8.1 64.
I have W8.1 as well, but no problems.

Did you have a look at the log files?

Easiest way, clean the log files and start Galaxy.....

Here is the thing. As i mentioned, i copied over the entire gog.com folder...which includes those cached files.

Know what happened? For about 10 seconds, it listed all my games that I had installed and updated on my laptop (now on my pc), and then suddenly marked all of them as corrupted, and removed ALL of them.

So its clearly not just about those files being present. Because File per file, folder per folder, are identical on my pc and laptop now, my laptop being the master source, with all games updated and playable. There must be another location or something in the registry that is needed as well.

This whole process is down right absurd and hindering. LIke I said, its the exact opposite of how "DRM Free" is supposed to be.

There is absolutely no reason for me to use the galaxy client since it drastically gets in the way of me being able to play the games. I can just download them once, and run them fine the original way before the client. I have no issues downloading them on my laptop, and simply copying them over to my pc this way.

Like I said, the fact that Steam handles this so much easier and nicer, is really mind boggling, since steam is all about being more strict about where and who can play the game.

Galaxy stores informations about installed games in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\GOG.com\Games key.
Besides that, moving already installed files to another pc was never a best idea. It may work, but doesn't have to.

One of the times i did a clean install of galaxy, besides of doing just the normal unistallation, i deleted anything related with galaxy.
Default folder with some leftover files, Galaxy folder under the hiden "ProgramData" folder.
Even used command line to delete/erase the processes.
Well not everything now that im thinking about it. Havent touched the registry...

But will give you advice a try. But give me a little help to wich log files are you refering to and where they are located.

Thx in advance.

Edit: Forgot to mention that Galaxy was working just fine till the moment i for some reason removed the "run as admin" and reanabled it again. That was like 3-4 version ago and grey window persists until then.

The log files are in

C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\logs

Which one, already depends ;)

unfortunate you/we would need to check them all ;)
Hence clearing the logs makes it easier to spot anything unusual. (time-out or similar)

Removing admin...hmmmm....you didn't play around with the folder-settings, or?

Thanks Mike, didn't posted this ;)

But Mike, he didn't move them, he just got them on an external HD ;)

You could export this part via the regeditor and re import it on the other PC. (select GOG and to a right click and select export)

BUT there is a risk (haven't checked though), it might contain HW-specific parameters......

darxide: For a while now, I can't manually update games through the Galaxy client. It will tell me Update Available but there is no longer a button to click. I can turn on automatic updates and it will download just fine. In fact, if I go to the GOG library page in my account and download the patch and run it, the Galaxy client doesn't seem to get the message that the update is installed and will keep telling me there is an update available until I turn on the automatic updates so it can do it. Only then does the notification clear.

Is this a new bug or is something wrong with my install?
This is a bug that was introduced a few weeks ago when updates are disabled. For now you can verify/repair when you see that message to force the game to update as a work around. Galaxy also has issues when you use a standalone patch and wanting to re-download all or part of that patch you already installed. This is a major gripe I have with Galaxy and it defiantly needs to be improved.

Deleted all logs. Run galaxy without any compatibility otpions. Grey window.
Checked logs.4 files. Everying seems ok, no error or fail msgs.
Only one thing in GalaxyClient.log : Exception during sending request to service: Timeout (connect timed out: 127.0.0.1:9977)

Used compatibility WinXP ( SP3 ) and run galaxy again. No grey window.
Checked logs. 5 files. ClientHelper.log is the new log. No error/fail msg inside, just 2 lines of info. nothing special.
In GalaxyClient.log : Exception during sending request to service: Timeout (connect timed out: 127.0.0.1:9977) still exists.

About the change i did with the admin settings, it was just at the shortcut on the desktop. Didnt mangle with any folders or other .exe

I have no problem running Galaxy under compatibility, get the updates, can dl anything without problems, gametime is tracked, achievements are registred.
But what annoys me is that Galaxy was working fine, changed the option to run as admin and reverted it like after minutes without realy changing anything else and till that moment i have to use compatibility.

I think the solution must be hiding somewhere in the registry. As i mentioned i removed everything Galaxy related and reisntalled new client at some point and problem remained but didnt touch registry and propably wont do that.
Hopefully someone here has had this issue.

I recently upgraded to Windows 10. The first day or so Galaxy worked just fine, now no matter how I try, it immediately crashes on launch and I'm presented with the crash reporter.

I've tried reinstalling to several locations. Removing all traces of the program including registry keys. Ran it as an administrator, and in various comparability modes. Reinstalled the C++ redistributable (x86 & x64) just to make sure it was in there properly with no luck.

I had a quick look at the registry, but can't really find anything related to your problem.....

It sounds like a reverse problem of this:

http://blogs.msdn.com/b/chinmay_palei/archive/2011/01/16/windows-7-application-compatibility-issues-fix-centre.aspx

But did you start Galaxy when you made the change? Sorry wasn't so clear with your post ;)

If not, the above would not apply.

Otherwise you could only uninstall and clean manually the registry :(

I am a bit out of ideas....

Even if games weren't technically moved.. Well.. I'm aware not everyone heard about registry entries, dependencies.. : ) But you already know all of this ; p

You mean like early windows, DOS or even CP/M? ; ) Can't be sure now, but I think registry came with 95. Enough time to get used to it, whether we like it or not.. Sooner or later we'll get Galaxy portable anyway, with old good .ini ; )
Dependencies however, that's another story.. I don't like them very much either. Especialy .net ones..

Yep, DOS, Win 3.11 hmmm CP/M not a lot of good games ;)
And yes 95 was the first registry an the first screw up IMHO. dependencies don't get me started :(
Never understood why they removed the ini, easy and quick.

Yes, we're aware of that issue. Will be fixed in the next version.
