1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

Why on earth does the Galaxy client log you out automatically from time to time? It's extremely annoying.
Windows 10 fresh new install. Galaxy is set to start with Windows, but it doesn't, no matter what I do. I tried to gave it all persmissions (run as administrator, all security permissions, exclusion of the folrder in my anti-virus, etc).

I have to start it manually after boot each time. :(

Also, why after EACH format (I format a lot, bencher) I have to REDOWNLAOD every games each time? Why is it not detecting my games that are all in the same GOGgames folder?!?!?

Really tired of redownloading Withcer 3 with each Windows installation because I've tried everything and it doesn't recognize my installation. :(

When this happens to me, I can never log back in without restarting the entire program, at which point I have to put up with its atrocious load times. It's extremely annoying. But sometimes it doesn't ever log out, even after hours? Is it logging out at the slightest network hiccup?

Galaxy's ability to detect existing installs is notoriously bad. If Scan for Existing Games doesn't work, you can manually import each game in turn... every single time you format.

''If Scan for Existing Games doesn't work, you can manually import each game in turn... every single time you format.''

I tried it. Not working also. :( Galaxy doesn't detect the Witcher 3 and Pillar of Eternity, even if manually importing, EACH time I format, so I need to redownload those 2 games every time. :( With my awesomely slow internet speed, it takes 24 hours to redownload both.

Should have bought them on Steam since Steam always find all my installed games after I reformat.

No matter what I do Galaxy doesn't want to start with Windows 10. Anyone was able to have Galaxy start when booting Windows 10 and could tell me what they did to have it work?
It just took 10 minutes for GOG Galaxyy to start up. It went from 5 min to 10 min. WTF.

I fixed the problem. I uninstalled Jade Empire and now it takes Galaxy 4 to 5 seconds(normal time for me) to start up for me. So Jade Empire is doing something to GOG Galaxy that makes GOG Galaxy start up really slow for me. Anyone have Jade Empire installed and is having a slow start up problem?

monkeydelarge: Lately it has been taking GOG Galaxy around 5 minutes to start for me. Why is this happening and how can I fix this problem?

Fallen_Zen: We're currently working on fixing that.
Awesome. Maybe this post(above) will help you guys?

If I start Anachronox through Galaxy any compatibility settings I've enabled for the game are not used. If I run the .exe directly it works fine. I haven't tested any other older games to see if the same issue arises (if messing with the compatibility is necessary).

Not quite sure if this is a bug or a feature request. But the client should give us an option to use compatibility settings if it just overrides your own.
Need some help here please.

Got galaxy client installed on 2 different computers (one is a laptop). Ive got my game install folder on a portable HD, that is shared between the 2,

I can update a game on my laptop, which updates the files on the portable drive. Then I can plug the drive into my PC, run the galaxy client, and it doesnt think the game has been patched. Instead, it attempts to repatch the game again.

Clearly, the files are patched. It seems to be a log file somewhere that is telling my PC that the version of the game is older than the files actually are. Ive checked the log files for the client as listed in the main post here, but I cant find anything to help with this issue. Its mostly a problem with games that have large patches. I use my laptop at work to download at 100mps, where as at home, i only get a measly 1.5mpbs. Games like witcher 3, want to download 7.5gb of data, which is just a huge issue over my bad internet. And no, i dont have any other options for net here. AT&T is the only option, and they refuse to upgrade their old copper phonelines.

Ive also tried just copying over the gog.com folder to my PC, which works for about 10 seconds, until galaxy thinks that all the games are corrupted, and removes them from the client. Apparently they are flagged as "Missing minimanifest". No idea where this manifest file is stored, but it seems to be essential for getting the client to see and accept game installs. It also seems like info for each game install is being shoved into the windows registry.

The fact that it is so difficult to manage this is almost worse than the game having DRM.

Without the client, I could just run the game from the install folder without any issues. The client makes this process much more complex and much more of a total pain. I dont think this supports GoGs mindset on DRM free.

The funny thing is, a DRM client like steam lets me do this entire process without any issues. Isnt that backwards of how it should be? It manages this without any registry files amazingly, letting you have multiple folders where your games are installed, and allowing you to move them from one drive to the other, by using local appmanifest files that serve as the "what game version" and "where is it installed" master index of the whole process. Not sure why the galaxy client doesnt copy this simple and very usable process.

trying it, lets hope it is as friendly as steam
For a while now, I can't manually update games through the Galaxy client. It will tell me Update Available but there is no longer a button to click. I can turn on automatic updates and it will download just fine. In fact, if I go to the GOG library page in my account and download the patch and run it, the Galaxy client doesn't seem to get the message that the update is installed and will keep telling me there is an update available until I turn on the automatic updates so it can do it. Only then does the notification clear.

Is this a new bug or is something wrong with my install?
Ok… this is becoming ridiculous really fast… -_-;
Is there a way to stop Galaxy that try to update a game that is already Up-To-Date ?

I had to manually update Kyn, DreamFall Chapter Season Pass & The Witcher 3 as Galaxy disconnected in the middle of the down (GOG Bear ?), no problem when I tried with GOGDownloader.
After a Verify&Repair Galaxy has stopped to try to update Witcher 3, but it still trying to redownload Kyn (7.8GB) & DreamFall Chapter Season Pass (9.2GB)

''Is there a way to stop Galaxy that try to update a game that is already Up-To-Date ? ''

Totally. This is beyond ridiculous for people with really slow internet or plans with a max Gb per months.

This need to be fixed also for when you format and re-install Windows, or just simply move your GOGgames folder to another disk. No reason for Galaxy to ALWAYS re-downlaod a game that is up to date.

Galaxy must be better at discovering existing up-to-date GOG games.
What's up with achievements for Ziggurat? It says none are available, but the icon and the collapsing section are there.
I still get the grey window in galaxy.
Have tried every solution i could find on the web and also uptaded and after not getting it fixed to un/reinstall at least 3 times new client versions when they were released.
Only way i can run Galaxy without problem is still running it under compatibilty Win XP ( SP3 ).
Im running Win8.1 64.

javi_js100: I love the app, but I can't manage to add friends. I have to post a message in order to do that :S
avatar
wlodar_gog: as you can see on the public wishlist here -http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy/add_friends_via_username_or_email_address, we're working on it hard, please wait for a next version of gog galaxy (will be soon, without ETA yet )
While you're implementing this, please be aware of potential privacy/security issues:

- Sending an invite by indicating an email address might reveal whether said email address has an attached GOG account (and in the absence of a captcha test can be used by hackers to check a harvested email list against GOG's database)
- Sending an invite TO an email address (legit use case: the friend I'm inviting doesn't have a GOG account yet) can be used for spamming
- Invites shouldn't be sent through the block list (when it's implemented) but should be declinable through the block list (to prevent a malicious user from sending an invite and leaving the victim with a bunch of permanent unclearable alerts)
- Invites should make use of the anti-spam system (if any).
